  2. Suggest me my first Android - Entry level

oops ..just read above that you have gone ahead with RedMI ...ok .. even thats a good phone ....with good service hopefully ... I own a Mi3 myself ... good luck bro.
  3. Suggest me my first Android - Entry level

Buddy ...dont think so much ... go for Moto E My logic is: 1. You will give to your niece so need a sturdy phone. 2. You will use for long, not change your phone, so you need good after-sales service ...Motorola has better service standards than most others. 3. Its proven .. so good resale value ..for whatever its worth. 4. Its from Motorola ..so radiation will be lower than other phones. 5. You like the design. 6. You think screen size is small and camera is average ... but you will get 'used to' both the things as you use, within 15 days. Its not an issue imho really.
  4. Handset Launches - News Snippets

Sorry to steal MI3's mojo, but Xiaomi is launching MI4 very very shortly in China link link2
  5. Handset Launches - News Snippets

Congratulations Santosh! 100000 registrations to buy. About 10000 pcs sold in 40 mins on 22nd July (noon).. Flipkart crashes due to too much rush.
  6. well ... it seems they do have a 'proper' service network planned. Here is the Xiaomi service center list for India (link) Also, overall good reviews across markets. Xiaomi is here to stay.
  7. +1 I too am quite tempted to go for Xiaomi, but not really sure if there will be any after sales service centres. This is big concern. Pls correct me if I am wrong, but I dont think any low cost mobile brand has a proper service network. (I live in Hyderabad).

Its super illegal to sell replica of Samsung, that too specifically calling it OEM. Now that you have this email from them, I think we have a strong case to close down rediff shopping website itself, or at least make some money in damages. These idiots need to be taught a lesson. Send them a crisp email with the words "Legal notice" on top, that too by Speed Post AD; and ask them 10 lakhs or something, within a week, failing which you should threaten to approach Samsung (who will probably sue them for 100000 crores:)), and also the consumer court, for closure of the website. Email is admissible evidence in court. I think you should get a call from a senior guy from rediff to negotiate with you. Its definitely worth a try. If nothing, at least they will think before selling replicas and replying with such BS.
  9. iPad Alternatives

Like Ice Cream is cold. (well ...we can have other cold things) Like we are not able to see when lights are off... (well ... use infra-red technology) Like Dairy Milk is Dairy Milk.... (well ... hmm ...i begin to see your point here) Or like Politicians are corrupt... ;-) (well .. i give up ... i get it now !!) Lol ..but seriously ....this thread is for those who anyway want an ipad alternative. Can anyone suggest me which is the *best* android tablet at the moment? Unlimited budget.

MOTO G (from Motorola) @ <15000/- (soon to be launched) source (full article) Motorola is promising that Moto G will be unlike any other smartphone in the market. The key feature of the phone is its low price. TheIndian price is expected to be less than Rs 15,000. But in terms of hardware and software features, the phone is ahead of similarly-priced Android or Windows Phone devices sold by companies like Samsung, Nokia, LG, Sony and HTC. Moto G has a 4.5-inch screen with 720P HD resolution, a quad-core processor running at 1.2GHz, 8GB internal storage (16GB version also available), 1GB RAM, 5MP primary camera and a 1.3MP front camera. Punit Soni, Motorola VP for product management, claimed that Moto G will be faster than Samsung Galaxy S4, a premium phone, in many tasks because it runs a largely unmodified version of Android. "Moto G costs less than one third of the price of Galaxy S4 and Apple iPhone 5S. Yet, it outperforms these devices in many tasks," said Woodside.

Samsung working on 3-sided screen phone / bendable touchscreens / foldable displays + Apple is working on curved screen smartwatch Source Samsung, which launched the world's first smartphone with a curved screen last month, is now reportedly developing a smartphone with a wraparound screen. The screen of this phone wraps around the edges so users can view messages while viewing from an angle and each side of the display works independently, according to a Bloombergreport. The South Korean manufacturer's wraparound screen smartphone would be using an upgraded version of its Youm technology, which was showcased in January this year. This display technology is also used in Galaxy Round, the company's only curved screen smartphone. Bloomberg's report, citing two sources close to the development, said: "The display may be used in the S or Note series of premium handsets or may be the first in a new line." However, the report was unclear about the launch date of the device.Samsung doesn't have a specific release date for the new device, but the handset is more likely to come out during the second half of next year. Samsung has already revealed its roadmap for smartphones, saying it will launch handsets with bendable touchscreens next year and models with foldable displays in late 2015 or 2016. Other companies are also working on new display technologies to compete in the booming smartphone market. Soon after Samsung launched the world's first handset with a curved screen, LG had launched a similar smartphone, named G Flex. Apple too is reported to be planning a curved screen iPhone next year that may feature a larger display than its earlier variants. Apple is also said to be working on a curved screen smartwatch.

HTC One successor’s images, features leaked source According to Chinese website ePrice, the upcoming HTC smartphone is codenamed M8 (the One was called M7 when it was being developed). The leaked images of the device show that it will follow the same design language as its predecessor, but will be thinner and have more rounded edges. The handset will also get a fingerprint scanner on the back, though it will be smaller than the one used in the One Max phablet and will be placed above the camera. The website reports that HTC M8 will have 5-inch or 5.2-inch display with 2K (2048x1080p) resolution and run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz. Though the Android version to be used in the smartphone is not yet known, it is expected to come preloaded with the HTC Sense 6.0 UI. The device is said to have 3GB RAM and will hit the markets in early 2014.
  14. Motorola wants to tattoo a mic on your throat source: Apple patented iWatch name. Samsung patented metal body for smartphones. And guess what Motorola has patented now? A technology that tattoos a microphone on your throat, complete with power supply, antenna, receiver and even an optional display! According to the patent application filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office, this tattoo on the throat will act as a standard microphone that will pair with mobile devices over Bluetooth, NFC and ZigBee networks. The microphone will pick up vibrations straight from the larynx (or voice box in layman's terms) in the throat, thus eliminating the background noise that many calls suffer from and make for clearer voice quality during calls. Motorola's patent filing says: "The electronic skin tattoo is capable of receiving an initialization signal at the controller and from the MCD (mobile communication device) to initiate reception of an audio stream picked up from the throat region of the body for subsequent audio detection by the MCD under an improved signal-to-noise ratio than without employing the electronic skin tattoo." The filing says that the tattoo can be applied on animals as well and can be embedded into a collar or band (both flexible and stiff) that is worn around the neck. And that's not all. Motorola's throat tattoo will double up as a lie detector too! The patent filing says: "Optionally, the electronic skin tattoo 200 can further include a galvanic skin response detector to detect skin resistance of a user. It is contemplated that a user that may be nervous or engaged in speaking falsehoods may exhibit different galvanic skin response than a more confident, truth telling individual." This is certainly one of the most unique ways of tapping into the world of wearable computing, which is witnessing a huge interest, thanks to Samsung and Sony's smartwatches and Google Glass.
