Yes Reliance also has similar system for example, in Maharashtra if a retailer recharges using ER as keyword for Rs. 99 recharge customer will get tariff discount applicable in certain area but if he sends recharge using SMS as keyword for Rs. 99 customer will get GPRS data (I think 300 MB)

Today from one of my RGSM numbers I was trying to call my friend. I realized that I do not have balance and hence went to Shop for recharge. But before even doing a recharge My friend called me up checking if I had tried calling him. He said he received an SMS "Hi, 90xxxxxxxx tried calling you. Please call back." Anyone else noticed this. Is it live only in Mumbai or anywhere else

The GPRS benefit is 500MB/month and all top up provide Full talk time but the differential Talk Time is credited by delay AFAIK. Infact in Rajasthan they are giving 1 GB/month data free. RCOM can't change your tariff for 6 months as they have commited it. Not sure for how may days this offer will continue.

RCOM has stopped roaming benefits on all their rate cutters I think around a year back. So now whatever benefit they promise it will only work in Home circle.

Info from my inside sources in Reliance - Many old rate cutters are not working as of now with this plan and they are working on a solution for same. Hence for time being they are maintaining that other rate cutters will not work on this.

Same Recharge can be used for different benefit. Its the way retailer sends the details which changes as far as I know. Reliance has been using this funda for few years now. I think for normal voice call & SMS benefit retailer does recharge with denomiation similar to top up but for data benefit he has to use some other code.

add to it the big fat service tax component on the post-paid bill

Need help from experts here. Using a Samsung Corby on RCOM network. How to subscribe to a EVDO data plan and which are the data plan available with reliance. Strange thing is my handset keeps switching between 1x & EVDO depending on network coverage and when I am subscribed to Mobile Net Plan 99 they charge me Pay as you go charge of EVDO apart from the 99 rental.
