I paid 49 rupees for the sim the retailer compelled me to do a 51 rupees first recharge (he said he wont get any commission if I refused to do the first recharge from him) first I said no coz sim have 5 rupees talktime which is enough to make some calls on per second billing. I am sure that if I am not ready to do the first recharge I won't get the sim, he has only 4 sim on stock) I put the sim on the handset ... switched on.... Tried to check my balance *111# (I need to confirm that the sim is got recharged for 51 rupees or not). i got the reply to make a call first to activate the service. ok.. I tried for the first call. OOPS...."your outgoing facility is temporarily barred, please contract 121 for more details.... tried 121 ..... same reply. again back to the retailer. i told the situation.. he made some calls to the dealer care from his mobile (dealer sim is dark brown in color) .. he made my sim active within ten mins. HELLO WORLD !!!!! NOW I BECOME A SUBSCRIBER OF TATA DOCOMO what else. balance got finished with in 1 hour. first called my dad then made some STD (Which is cheaper, right?) calls to my friends. hat's off to TATA DOCOMO. Foot notes: call charge printed on the sim packet and on the tarif sheet inside is local calls 1 rs per min and 1.5 rs for std. nothing to worry i got 1ps per sec tariff. Till now I am not able to use its gprs connectivity. Checked with cust care many times.

And when I had talked to the Cochin office - They said that they have nothing to do with Tata Indicom and hence you wont get the sim at the True Value Hub or Store. We are not going to get GSM sims through TATA hubs or shopees for the time being. Soon three brands (indicom, docomo and virgin) going to be under one roof. discussions are going on the top corporate ("anil sardana") level. hope we can expect the unexpected. Checked and confirmed with a docomo employee and a indicom employee.. both are on same page. docomo is planning to go with local retailers now at least for one to two months

Dear Saket, Try manual network search on any GSM phone (if possible use Nokia) , lookout for the odd signals something like IND 035 or IND 042 etc ---------------------------- Friendz, Today I found two more new hoardings, ( D "Why live in the past" ) and ( D "Why do the did" ) in Kochi city, Kerala circle.

Bhargava Chandra, I heard that we are not going to get sim cards from TATA indicom stores, GSM guys are planning to sell it through local retail channel only. After one or two months they are planning to merge CDMA and GSM business together. then only the true value stores will come to the stage. till that time we have to approch local retailers. I am not sure about the above said news, comments are welcome.

Here in Kochi (Kerala Circle), TATA DoCoMo started their advertisement campaign, TD emplyee told, they have put around 25 big hoarding in and around the city (Three of them I saw yesterday, Saritha theatre, North railway overbridge, Palarivattom junction), also heard like the commercial launch has been postponed to 26th june from previously announced 22nd june. also customer care number 9037012345 is active in malayalam, till now it giving the welcome snippets only and no info about any tariff or schemes other than VAS details. Just now I have tried 9037012345, It saying, Welcome to "TATA indicom" (Not either TATA DoCoMo or TATA GSM), Please press 1 for English, 2 for Malayalam and 3 For Hindi. I have tried English, Malayalam and Hindi. All leads to "Please check the number you have dialed". I am from Kerala circle. More than that I have tried 9037000121 leads to "Please check the number you have dialed". Bharghav, please dial the same from Andhra ie, 9030000121. Let us know the result.

Please please guys.... kindly note. Anil sardana is still alive.... some times he says.... "TATA is planning to launch its GSM service within few weeks". I am also waiting for such a long time. Oh God... Please make this happen. Somebody please kidnap Anil sardana. so that he never say the above said "statement" any more.

Heard that TATA is planning to soft launch it's GSM services by 10th June and business launch scheduled on 22nd June. Launch scheduled for Kerala circle, no news about other circles. in an interval of two weeks TTSL MD Anil Sardanaji repeating the same pallavi "We are planning to roll out gsm service within few weeks". Lets wait for another two weeks to hear another edition of "going to start gsm services with in a short span of time". I think as ususal TATA is trying to become the last mobile operator who launched gsm services in india. Keep waiting.... keep laughing......... for another 10 years.

In my opinion, reliance is in a hurry to launch their gsm service as soon as possible in almost all the circles (where they got gsm spectrum recently). They want to become the first operator to offer both gsm and cdma platforms. They done it but the reliance brand lost it's credibility only because of this poor gsm service even though they have a stong cdma network under the same brand name. I am sure that not even 10% customers are using the CEP sim as their primary number. They are using the same just to utilize the free mins credited daily. CEP got a new meaning Commonly Error Prone. ha.. ha... ha.
