  11. Chrome - Browser By Google.

Dear friends, Google is famous for keeping stuff in beta mode for a long time. Take GMail and GTalk for example. I think it will take a long time before it gets final. Anyhow FF 3.1 is trying to beat Chrome at the only one thing that it is supposed to be good at "SPEED". May be this will nip it in the bud, who knows.
  12. Cool its active again. I just registered. I have used the mail sms alerts in the past and they were free back then. Also I did not see the 1 re. charge mentioned in my T&C. This is confusing. Although I have a very very old hotmail account. I had certain privileges in my account including ability to access emails from Outlook Express when most new users were not allowed (of course before Windows Live Mail came). Here is the TOS that I see "Pricing and terms of use TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR USE OF THE SERVICE: This service is available for all Reliance IndiaMobile subscribers. Currently for each SMS received from Windows Live is free and the cost of sending an SMS to this service is Rs. 2/- per outgoing SMS. The applicable charges will be added to your monthly mobile bill or will be deducted from your prepaid account if you are a prepaid subscriber. Currently, there is no maximum number of SMS messages that can be received from this service every month. This service is a Windows Live service and is covered by the general Windows Live Terms of Use. The terms and conditions for use of this service may be modified by Reliance IndiaMobile and Windows Live at any time without any notice."
  13. Lost / Stolen Mobile

My dad once found a BB on juhu beach during his routine morning walk, belonging to a person working at a senior position in a Bank. He did the same thing mentioned above, called his home number. He immediately came and thanked my dad and picked his phone up. Next day as a nice gesture he also sent a box of chocolates. Unfortunately like many others my sister has lost several phones, one of them got flicked from the car when she was waiting on a red light. None were recovered.

  16. DoT to bar calls from Chinese phones 14 Oct, 2008, 1105 hrs IST,Times News Network If you bought a cheap Chinese mobile phone recently, the investment might turn out to be expensive. Calls from such phones may be barred since most don't carry the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number, a unique 14-digit code used to identify valid devices. Even locally-assembled handsets that don't have IMEI numbers may be barred, according to a recent note by the department of telecom (DoT). There are about 1.6 crore Chinese-made and locally-assembled handsets in use that don't have IMEI numbers. Even mobile phones that have all zeroes or no zero in their IMEI code will also be barred. The DoT move comes after security agencies found the mobile phones used by terrorists in the recent blasts did not have IMEI numbers. Sales of Chinese handsets constitute about 13.3 per cent (or Rs 4,000 crore) of the Rs 30,000-crore annual mobile handset market in the country. About 16.8 lakh Chinese and locally assembled handsets are sold every month. However, the directive leaves a loophole as it does not take into account fake IMEI numbers with at least one zero. Local dealers of Chinese handsets are exploiting this by offering to change the IMEI number if your phone has a code with all zeroes or no zero. Mobile phone makers said they are working to plug the loophole as a change in IMEI is not legal in India, unlike the UK and Poland. Software to change IMEI numbers is freely available on websites like brothesoft.com. The government fears militants might use such software to switch the IMEI code of a mobile phone several times during a call, thus making the caller virtually untraceable. 19. You can get the next in line 476x for Rs. 6,497 http://shop.mobilenxt.com/index.php/catalo...6x/category/75/
  20. While I completely agree that such phones exist, I seriously doubt that it is possible to dupe someone into buying a duplicate handset as the real one. I think it is the cell phone makers lobby that is trying to curb the menace of Chinese phones by creating such false propaganda, as they clearly see the Chinese cheap phones as a threat not only to their market share but also to their margins. The accessories is a different story and I can very much see duplicates being passed on as originals.
  21. Fm Radio On Mogul

How can people link Windows and FM radio? The most important thing, as Sadikk pointed out, would be to have an radio tuner chip (Hardware). It's like saying can I install a program to record video on a phone which does not even have a camera. LOL
  22. According to the terms used right now, those sets are not 3G but 2.5G. Since, the speeds are faster than the 2G GSMs but much slower than 3G as we now know it. So a misnomer I would say.
  23. which dual sim phone?

There is also Bleu 475x and 476x available on mobilenxt.com for 7000 and 6197 respectively. Except for the camera both look pretty good for the price. Not sure about the build quality for Bleu though.
  24. Why Is My Reply Not Visible Immediately ?

Most of the websites now a days have a picture with a word displayed to authenticate it is not a BOT. If possible we can implement it for RIMWeb as well. Not sure how it is actually implemented.
  25. Chrome - Browser By Google.

Except for being faster, I don't see much going for it. FF rules. Am using it for only some time now and already missing the mighty FF plug ins. Still lot of work to catch up with FF. Don't think it is a challenge to anyone including IE. I suppose the launch was meant to coincide with the beta launch of IE8 with some similar features on offer such as much hyped "Porn mode".
