Only thing irritating is the network usage charges of 5p/10kb for cdma subscribers whereas for gsm, no such charges are there.... still a big initiative... people I know, r in talks with senior officials in reliance to change that also... update: just heard these charges are effective only on usage with a proxy server and not without... so doesnt seem anything much to get excited about...thats why they r charging 5p/10kb in cdma as we can surf internet without proxy server which is not possible in gsm...

^ it may be a rom specific problem; as I am using Opera Mobile and its working fine with reliance (not disabled) on sprint original rom; same with google maps which is working perfectly; I dont use mini anymore since Opera mobile came into the picture; full fledge browser on phone will be constrained by the screen resolution and hardware, but opera mobile does come very close to a near desktop experience...

^ lol.... did u check the price of that thing... 180$ + shipping will cost more than 220$ and in that price u can buy a PC in India... and then u will have to invest in either a broadband connection / wifi network anyways.... so these are impractical hardwares for Indian conditions unless u r a diehard *****pot and need to buy something unique at any cost...

u should download files in avi format; which btw is the most popular format in the world right now.. All divx players play avi. The latest format is mkv which is used with hd bd rips which is playable in a very few dvd players right now. So stick to avi and be happy forever... also note that mp4, xvid are mostly playable in divx players... just look for avi extension...for other formats, converters are available free on net ( http://www.alloksoft.com/splitter.htm ) which will convert any other formats u have into avi, and then u can copy those files to a dvd or usb drive and play in these dvd players...

Bsnl Introduces Promotional 3g Tariffs

Bought the Sierra 3G Modem today; will post experience with BSNL 2/3G Data soon.... -
^ Read Post 169 Page 12 of this topic - BTW there should not be much difference in battery life in Sprint Original Rom and Mighty Rom 4. Keep WiFi / BT / Data switched off; use only when needed. That will increase your battery life. Mine lasts 2 (sometimes even 3) full days but I use it very moderately (20 minutes calling a day, 10 minutes wifi/data, 10 sms, short and sweet)

Bsnl Introduces Promotional 3g Tariffs
dkaile replied to sougatadc's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I tested 3G Data Plan on Micromax USB Modem here in Meerut today. Cost of Modem is 3800/- inclusive of BSNL 3G connection and sim free. Data Plan Charges - http://www.bsnl.in/s...3G_files/3g.htm But I checked and found that actual speed coming on 3G SIM was not more than 36kbps (equivalent to say 300Kbps connection).... LOL and they call it 3.6Mbps 3G... really laughable.... then I was suggested to test normal 2G SIM on the same modem on 230/- unlimited GPRS Plan and guess what.... surprise, surprise.... I got a speed of 30kbps (256 Kbps connection).... and same portability and convenience.... (Note: These are actual download speeds I got when downloading a test file from a fast server) Now, I am planning to buy a 3G mini PCI Modem for my laptop and insert the sim into it as an always on and connected laptop... I am getting a Sierra 3G HSDPA WWAN mini PCI Modem for 1500/- on Ebay ( http://cgi.ebay.com/...=STRK:MEBIDX:IT ) and the 2G Data SIM for about 300/-; Add to it the 230/- per month unlimited data plan on prepaid ( http://www.bsnl.co.i...f_excel_pre.htm ) whereas the same Unlimited Plan on 3G is for 2999/- and I am hooked to at least a 256Kbps unlimited connection thats always on.... just an idea... -
