More of that: BPL has 2.6 million subscribers ... so even those should take hutch to around 11 million ... well short of bharti's mobile subscribers (12.2 million), & the BSNL+MTNL combine (given merger is overdue and they operate in complementary circles and offer roaming only to each other). Reliance at 10.2 million mobile subscribers would be short of hutch 11 million ... but reliance gains about 0.2 million subscribers over (hutch+bpl) additions every months ... so it'll take 4 months to cross hutch + bpl too (assuming markets keep running the same way in future). If reliance's FWP is also added, then at 12 million, it would already by ahead of hutch + bpl.

As I have read in newspapers Hutch will become not only the biggest opertor in Mumbai but also the biggest GSM operator in India. ( Airtel still have more subscibers than Hutch + BPL but Airtel also gives Landlines connections) 36204 Well I actually track the subscriber numbers as a matter of interest. As on June end: Total -- included Mobile, FWP, Wireline Bharti - 13.1 million BSNL (incl. MTNL): 11.3 million Reliance: 12 million Hutch: 8.4 million Idea: 5.5 million Tata: 4.5 million Only Mobile Bharti - 12.2 million BSNL (incl. MTNL): 11.3 million Reliance: 10.2 million Hutch: 8.4 million Idea: 5.5 million Tata: 1.4 million All wireless (Mobile + FWP etc.] Bharti - 12.2 million BSNL (incl. MTNL): 11.3 million Reliance: 11.8 million Hutch: 8.4 million Idea: 5.5 million Tata: 4.1 million (So, Bharti has about 0.9 million wireline subscribers ... but even without them, has largetst subscribers). But maybe they need to eliminate the customers they have lost due to "churn" .... or eliminated due to defaults etc., like reliance eliminated about 1 million customers in march. For Bharti, Hutch such a one time write off, seems overdue (Esp. prepay customers keep changing operators, so get double counted, since the old operator keep the account live till 6 months)

GTRAN (i guess), uses brew, while rest of us use java (for LG 5130 .. and a lot of other r-world enabled handsets). It could be that BREW r-world is not updated (with the latest applications - DDLJ etc.) ... rworld on java is working perfectly fine .. (the only problem is it has become costly so we can't use the apps because of the prices )

I don't agree that they should do it (.... so sympathise with you). But, is this only for wireline phone ... or the broadband. (I am waiting for there fiber-to-the-building broadband ... giving ethernet type speeds)

I got this comment at a reputed international forum: I would much rather rely on Russians, Hungarians and Eastern Europeans. These guys win medals at the International Mathematical Olympiads every year, fairly consistently too. I rarely see teams from India or China winning anything significant. To be honest, most Indians I know are mathematically mediocre; they're just computer programmers. To be frank, it spoilt my day
-
I think that's low-level maths ... maybe upto 12th standard or atbest undergrad. .. (most probably only upto 12th) .... even undergrad maths is somewhat complicated to do over e-learning.
-
Ok, sure .. Ramanujan is a significant name (which I missed). and happily he is from modern age. I can understand, why India doesn't have a strong mathematical base at master's and phd ..... a large amout talent gets filtered out at the undergrad stage (IITs and all) -- many of whom have the aptitude for advanced mathematics of international level -- and they don't choose to pursue phd. maths in india (prefer US etc). But I wonder why these "IIT folks" and other maths talent fail to prove themselves at International Olympiad etc. .... like the Russians (though, almost entire Europe seems to be tooooo stong in Maths) --- Look for any mathematics papers .. they invariably come from Europe --- even denmark, iceland, poland !!!! they figure much much much more than India.
-
Well she was a calculating wizard ... (which is very different from mathematics) ! But that is another striking thing -- can we "name" an Indian mathematician ?? Atleast I don't know anyone apart from Aryabhatta ... and the ZERO ZERO bla bla .. and still only ZERO

This reminds me of the physics of an optical camera (as studied in class 8th). In that camera, all the rays from the object to the image must pass thru the "optical center" of the convex lens (this was to ensure that "dirty rays", which damage the image, are blocked or diverted away from the image (i.e. the chemical film screen). Question is --> can we build an convex lens (+ a large enough pinhole in front of it), which ensures than none of the "dirty rays" manage to reach the film, for such a large view as above? Otherwise, my guess is the image above it obtained by merging more than one images, shot at different points in time (and from different angles), but from the same position of the camera. (this is the more likely case).

this is unashamed looting in public! 440 + 3*110 = 770 why should she pay you Rs. 20/- more than what she offers to other people ? (Are you charging for the "risk" of one or more of the 110 cards turning out to be dud ???) -- you can't (or atleast won't need to!) charge all 3 at the same time.
-
Fishy yes ... but it's difficult to see the Fish (so .. more fishy). Jennifer - someone is going to inform the police ... many of us feel, you are working on behalf of osama bin laden. --- We are all more interested in being alive rather than being interested in your Rs. 250/- (Could you increase the reward, though .... some of us maybe more interested in 1 lac rupees, than our life )
-
Then off course, this is quite useless ... it means around 900 bucks (atleast) to avail off the 100 hr. internet... Reliance's freedom plan at 715 p.m. is much better, because no call charges. (.... with additional advantange that if you read the articles while connected, the time does count) ... it's a data plan !!! Fools use BSNL
-
Jennifer: i came to know certain things from bsnl site .. but not very clear that 100 hrs. for 500 rupees is all inclusive charge (i.e. internet acess + telephone call charges) .. ... or do they charge for the telephone call (s) over and above the 500 rupees ?
-
Jennifer: I got a brilliant idea (.. I keep getting them, btw ) You buy a RIM prepay card in kerala (say a 550 rupee card) .. or if you want to be more generous (a RIM 440 card + 199 card). Email the prepaid card numbers to someone on this forum, who needs to buy them. That guy will email you the sancharnet number (which will cost him 500). This way you avoid the bank draft and courier to send it etc. (As an additional measure of security, you could SMS the numbers to each other's mobile phones too).
-
ok. got the info from the web : 24 months. sounds cool.
-
oh .. sorry, i myself meant 100 hrs. but that's quite attractive ... reliance gives 1 GB download for Rs. 715 per month (including the serivce fee) --- (It's called freedom plan). Some one wanting to download 1 GB .. could surely download it in 100 hrs. One more info please .... does the 100 hr. limit has to be withing a month ... (or like you can you use it even in 1 year, provided 100 hrs. are not exhausted)
-
ok. but just for info .. how much does a 1000 hr. sanchar net renewal package cost ... (excluding the 250 bucks you offer)
-
I may have, but I am from Delhi .... I don't think BSNL sells in delhi. By the way, just curious .... you send Rs. xxx draft so some "unknown" guy .... but don't get the EMAIL .... which police station do you want to report the crime This is internet .... and quite funny
-
call it a fee, rather than "reward" I assume you'd me mailing a bank draft or something + your address where the sanchar net renewal package will be mailed to you (by courier). wooow.. rimweb becomes an e-commerce portal - congrats ! This will be interesting .... Honest people on the net !!! more likely you'll find osama bin laden's Make sure, you get the courier checked for "white powdery" substance, when you get it
-
Is the suicidal banana referring to me as the "odd crack-pot" ? Anyway, sir, if you are so pleased with rimweb ... why don't you make a contribution to it. (You could credit the contributions to my bank a/c and i'll forward them to the concerned)
-
I think the sequence would be different .. not Idea >> GSM >> RIM but, Idea >> RIM >> GSM Idea reducing STD, hurts GSM less than RIM. So, RIM will be provoked to lower rim-2-rim std. (If RIM does not -- it still has it's india card etc. -- then I don't think Airtel, hutch would lower std either). On the other hand, if RIM does reduce std ... airtel, hutch will also. ... Becoz RIM hurts airtel, hutch much more than idea. I think, the step idea hurts RIM the most (as compared to airtel or hutch), if it does nothing.
-
Yeah i guess so too! relax buddy! 35192 JOKE !!!! Nice theory. I encourage people to think it that way -- pick a friend's pocket, ... and if caught -- WELL I WAS JUS' JOKING
-
rimweb has been responsible for wasting a lot of time ... i feel like suing it. I could have taken my career to new heights without the unwanted distraction from rimweb. I would reconsider my decision to sue, if you shut it down.

What have broadband or 3G activities have to do with penetration of 2G or 2.5G systems. Is someone thinking that Indians don't by 2G services, because they are really low-end services ... we have a liking and ability to pay for 3G. Nothing less, please ;-) !! - I think it's the handset prices -- currently lowest end handset at Rs. 2000/- plus , say a 199 voucher would mean an average monthly expense over 1 year as (2000 + 2400) / 12 = 366/- or so. A bulk of Indian population would start seeing the utility and affordability of at or in the 100 to 200 range. Clearly, the monthly rental could still go down by around 50 more .... but the real spoiler is the cost of the handset. We need 500 or 700 rupee handsets. (75% FDI argument has a marginal effect ... it only affects hutch as of now ... no one's really bothered .. they all have the money to put the network)

Reliance Indiamobile Bags International Award
SexyGurl replied to solanky's topic in Reliance Communications
The pricing of R-world is very appropriate for Indian consumers. If they have any sense, hutch and airtel should follow. (else, they'd be blamed themselved for losing business)
