Reliance Jio, the latest telecom company to enter the market, has started its fiber to home operations in Chennai — making the southern city only the third telecom zone to experience the service, after Mumbai and Gujarat.
The address of JioFiber has been given as 2nd Floor, Prestige Palladium Bayan, Greems Road, Chennai 2.
The offer promises a speed of 100 Mbps, and states that a 5 GB true-HD movie will download in less than seven minutes on the connection.

RCom gets nod to launch 4G services
The first 12 circles are Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Kolkata, Maharashtra, Punjab, east and west Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar
Subscribers of Reliance Communications' CDMA devices, who have a 4G SIM, will now be able to access the service as the company had received the legal intercept and monitoring (LIM) approval from the department of telecom in 12 out of 22 circles.
The first 12 circles are Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Kolkata, Maharashtra, Punjab, east and west Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.
RCom is in the process of shutting down its CDMA services and has offered subscribers to move to its 4G services since May this year. However, the telecom service provider has not been able to activate the service due to the pending LIM approval. While the company has got the approval for 12 circles, it is expecting to get the requisite approvals for the remaining six circles shortly. Approval in the remaining four circles (Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan) will take another at least 45 days, as Reliance Communications liberalized its spectrum in these four circles only last month.
RCom has been attempting to wean its five million CDMA customers to Jio's 4G LTE network since May. While the users will continue to be RCom subscribers, the network will be powered by Jio's all-IP based next generation network. While the low-ARPU customers have already migrated to the company's 2G services, the high end consumers have not been able to experience the service as the company had not got the requisite approvals. With this approval, RCOM can now begin the process of moving its high-ARPU data customers to the shared Reliance Jio 4G LTE network.

RCom – Aircel merger talks may conclude in July
Read this
Once the due diligence is over, RCom will carve out its wireless business and merge it with Aircel’s wireless business, which will result in a new brand, the report said.
Aircel has spectrum to offer 3G in 13 markets while RCom has it in 11 circles in the country. The new entity, if formed, will gain from Reliance Jio’s 4G spectrum and help to offer broadband services without spending huge capex and opex on network and spectrum.
A merger of the wireless businesses of RCom and Aircel will also help RCom expand its GSM services in West Bengal, Bihar and Assam, where it did not win back its 900 MHz spectrum in the March 2015 auctions, according to agency ICRA.

They are issuing 4G sim in TN. My assumption is by end of June 2016 they would shut down CDMA in Chennai.

Will Sign 2G Roaming Pact With RJio, Vodafone This Month: BSNL
State-owned BSNL is in advanced talks with Reliance Jio and Vodafone for signing a 2G roaming agreement this month.
"We are in advanced stages for signing 2G intra-circle roaming agreement with Reliance Jio and Vodafone. I believe agreement with them should be signed this month," BSNL chairman and managing director Anupam Shrivastava told PTI.
Under the agreement, customers of Reliance Jio and Vodafone will get access to BSNL network where there is a coverage gap.
The state-run firm has deep presence in rural areas as other companies have invested very conservatively due to low return on investments.
Once the agreement is finalised, BSNL customers will also have access to the networks of Reliance Jio and Vodafone. In terms of mobile base stations, BSNL stands second in the country.
It has around 1.14 lakh and is in process of installing another 21,000 mobile towers.
