As the OMH is not populr in the US (the main CDMA world!) I am afraid insistence on OMH reduces your choice dramatically. Else convince him to give up his obsession with UIM and go for a programmed handset from any of the friends on rimweb.

@Karthik R: This image is from the web and not of an actual download. I am waiting for my Epic 4G to come back. 1.7.x is supposed to be the latest version. I have also downloaded 1.6 as an apk and will try it out. As reported by mt it was 22+ Mbps on wireless (IITK network) with the 4G and 8 Mbps on the Samsung Galaxy 551.

I am sure many of us travel abroad for short trips. Even if we have to get roaming on our mobiles (the changes are CRAZY we may still wish to have local mobiles:
In the US getting a SIM/CDMA connection takes ages, so kids take a SIM from India.
In the Gulf the shortest duration of a prepaid is One Year, so for a short trip taking a SIM from here makes sense. In the Gulf (at least Dubai) data charges can be crazy. Matrix advised me that GPRS may be as much as $10/MB! Also, most hotels charge AED40 per hour (120 per day) for wireless connectivity. Some malls, and airport do have free connectivity.
I took a Matrix SIM at Rs.500 (or rather 550 with taxes) with a 10 day validity and 500MB talk/sms time. The SIM was on du and worked instantly. Of course make sure you switch off all data services before landing else you inadvertently get fleeced.
I will like others to post about alternate channels, experiences.

Since they claim he was identified by both DNA (matches with his sister's) and his wife (or rather one of them). Probably the one not killed! I guess we have to accept that he is now history.

I am goofing somewhere. Somehow I am unable to find and download the SpeedTest.Net frame as is being shown above. what I am finding every time is one with a Speedometer and number below it.So can someone please send me the URL / source for these on Android. The best I achieved with my Epic 4G was 22Mbps on the IITK network in the wireless mode. The Samsung galaxy 551 peaked out at just above 8Mbps.

Given that CDMA service is probably the best, and the vendor handsets the worst. I wonder how the scenario will change if OMH based handsets become the rule. Already Samsung Galaxy Pop is there in the OMH universe.

I have a feeling that Tata may be hurt in case DoCoMo leaves. They are the pioneers of 3G and beyond.

Good post Rajan. Let me add a few points - I am all for the LED technology, since it saves quite a bit of power. Even the screen does not get as hot. In this regard the full matrix ones may be even better.
White LEDs are deficient in certain colours, so the colour rendering may not be that good. You are creating a white back lighting and then blocking out some light to deliver the image.
I have a somewhat old (1996) 32" LCD TV, and new LED laptop (you will never get 8+ hours otherwise).

The Samsung F700 released in Feb 2007 (four months before the iPhone) is very similar. So sammy can sue back!
I wonder whether Apple expects a better takeover deal once Steve Jobs quits. Definitely, the suitor will not be Steve Ballmer!

It seems that Apple are suing Samsung for copying the look and feel of the iPhone in the Galaxy series. So who is scared out of their skins?

I could not understand Arnab Goswami repeating time and again about voice samples. Nobody is questioning that the voice is not of Mr Shanti Bhushan.
The issue is one of splicing together bits from multiple recordings. Also, if the bits are identical from some other recording, then the rest is academic. Not physically possible to make two identical statements with the same voice print. I wonder whether even Lata Mangeskar can do it.
The crooks are obvious. Also, I think it is pretty obvious who is the Big Industrial house.Incidentally, if they are the ones I am thinking about, and have done it then all I can say is that it a pretty shabby splicing job.

You can get many models of Samsung/ htc from our friends here. Also, look at the Samsung Galaxy Pop CDMA wich is under 10k and is an OMH handset.
