  1. @ Santosh, Galaxy Note is an absolute powerhouse of a device with a gorgeous screen but usability is the main concern. People look awkward when making calls on the Note, it is not pocketable, the stylus, or s-pen as Samsung calls, works only with the touchscreen and not with the soft buttons.

Don't get me wrong, it is the best device for reading/sending mails, general surfing and watching HD videos.

If the size of the Note doesn't bother you, your decision is made :)

IMO, the Galaxy Advance is way overpriced. It is almost the same as the Galaxy R model which has been available for some time now @ Rs. 22K.

  3. Sony has officially announced that it will start its Android 4.0 upgrade for the 2011 line of Xperia smartphones today. Initially, this update is for Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray owners located in Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Finland and Norway. The software rollout will expand to other global markets over the next 4 to 6 weeks.

The Ice Cream Sandwich update is not being conducted over the air, therefore, you will need to tether your device to a PC. Those with eligible handsets can head on over to http://www.sonymobile.com/update and follow the instructions to perform the upgrade.

  4. Samsung – No plans for 3D in upcoming phones

There have been quite a few rumors, “leaks”, and speculations on Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S III will employ a 3D display. Responding to the possibility that the highly anticipated handset may sport 3D; Samsung issued a statement to Engadget saying,

Although Samsung Electronics is constantly exploring new technologies for our mobile devices, we have no immediate plan to include displays featuring 3D technology in our upcoming smartphones.

So there it is, straight from the horse’s mouth – the Galaxy S III won’t be sporting a 3D screen :hypocrite:

  5. Dropbox have now realized that people are trying to game the system, and has now issued the following statement on its support forums:

The official Dropbox 23GB HTC promotion will not start until sometime early this month, when the devices are released. To earn the extra 23GB of extra Dropbox space you will need to link your HTC Sense 4.0 device to your Dropbox account and complete “Get Started.”

The method to earn 23GB that is being circulated on the XDA Developers forum and on other blogs and forums is illegitimate. We plan to remove any space received using this method.

Downloading apps from unknown sources is not a good idea, as they might have been modified to include malicious code. We strongly recommend that you only install the Android Dropbox app via Google Play (formerly known as the the Android Market) or from official download links on Dropbox.com.

    I hope this helps.

    best,

    Sean

Members who have been using this exploit to illegitimately get the 23GB free space better backup the files on Dropbox as soon as possible before they get unceremoniously deleted.

  6. Instagram is an app for taking pictures, adding filters to make them look cool (see the pic Hetal ji posted), and then for sharing them with sites like Twitter and Facebook. And second, it's a simple social network of other people's photos. You can "like" or comment on the photos, and see what's new. It's easy and doesn't take much time or effort to master. This is one of the reasons it has become so popular so quickly :)
