  1. Mobile Internet Working / Not Working ?

@nshram, Thanks for your detailed inputs. Lets wait and watch the situation. I will activate my Plan 99/199 from the next month as this month, I will be charged for the full month instead of pro-rata rentals. In between I may decide to go prepaid also. I think its time for me also to quit RCOM now. Too many changes and shocks in the last 6 months. 'Reliance' is totally 'Unreliance' now, every month something or the other is added to make our bills fatter. I don't mind it as long as it is healthy but beyond a point, it is unacceptable. @doc, How are you able to log on using the UTS id and pw? Many others here are unable to use it at all (in prepaid, that is).
  2. Mobile Internet Working / Not Working ?

^^^ If you are able to browse even RMW or OM, WAP is working irrespective whether you use http or socket. Here, whether we use http or socket, nothing works. The CC and the floor supervisors are dumb, nincompoops who do not even know anything about Opera Mini. They kep getting confused with Net Connect or RMW always. And how do they bill you under Plan 99 - for actual usage or is it 5ps/10kb + 5ps/10kb on entire usage. Is there any excess billing problem you have encountered? Do you have L1 plan? What other internet apps are you able to use with Plan 99? I also want to activate Plan 99/199 but based on your clarifications to the above, I will go ahead. What will be my advantage if I continue or discontinue L1 plan? Actually I want to migrate to prepaid, but since there are no Plan 99 or Plan 199 or their equivalent plans, I am withholding myself. @dkaile, Thanks for your inputs. You are right, RMW homepage is available through the default Nokia browser, but not through Opera Mini. They have either blocked WAP usage for other external apps or maybe it is a temporary phenomenon like in the 1st week of this month. Hope for the best....
  3. Mobile Internet Working / Not Working ?

All this and much more will happen in RCOM prepaid...
  4. Mobile Internet Working / Not Working ?

@dkaile, The issue here is not Net Connect, it is using Opera Mini directly on the mobile using WAP. In Chennai/TN, WAP is unavailable for the last 5-6days. In between also, it did not work, but mysteriously it started working once again. Now again it has stopped. And AFAIK, in prepaid no data plans are available, so how does one use Opera Mini? Secondly how can you activate 99/199 on prepaid? What does this actually mean?
  5. I Want To Buy Nokia 6275 Cdma

@reethesh, Try the following topic if it is useful for you:- http://www.rimweb.in/forums/index.php?showtopic=18406 All the best
  6. Mobile Internet Working / Not Working ?

^^^ Surprising that you were made to wait so long for converting to prepaid. Actually one can go across to any WW and get this done instantly. When I spoke to CC last week, they told me this. Only if we want to terminate the account, one has to wait. I was also told that on converting to prepaid, one will get Rs 50 TT valid for 7 days, but you have got main and promo balance and the validity also is only 3 days and 2 days!!!!! Anyway, all the best in prepaid. Post here if you can access Opera Mini in prepaid.
  7. Mobile Internet Working / Not Working ?

^^^ No use, they will send you their standard automated reply, "We will forward/escalate this to the relevant dept." Anyway, lets wait and watch... And they already are fully aware that they have the best data network, with the worst tariffs.
  8. Reliance Netconnect Broadband Plus On Evdo

I tend to agree with kesav's views. The GoI will definitely take some action, the COAI also has already pleaded to stop sales of such 3G services. If GoI does not act, the COAI will approach the courts. Buyers beware.
  9. Mobile Internet Working / Not Working ?

In 6265/6275, maybe also in HTC Touch, Start Opera Mini then, Menu---Tools---Settings---Network Protocol---- HTTP or Socket. AFAIK, Socket is faster than HTTP. Check it out. @savramesh, Still unable to access Opera Mini. @sanjay0501, I think you are using NetConnect with the UTS id and pw, I mean you are connecting your mobile to the PC. We are talking about using Opera Mini on the mobile directly without any PC, maybe I am wrong. If you are indeed using OM directly without PC, how do you logon to Rworld using UTS id and pw. Have I missed out on something?
  10. ^^^ No use, RCOM has gone deaf, blind, dumb, lame as far as SMS and mobile internet is concerned. In Chennai/TN, we have all private cellcos (barring RCOM, of course) providing 22500 local SMSs / month for Rs 61-65, while for national SMS, one can get 500 nat.SMS for Rs 55, which is the reason why BSNL has brought out the above pack. BSNL is costlier than the private cellcos except our great RCOM. Aircel even gives 5000 nat. SMS for Rs 50 in their postpaid plans. As for mobile internet, RCOM has the distinction of being the only one which provides access only for RWorld and all ther apps like operaMini, Gmail, GMaps, etc cannot be used for internet. All other cellcos offer at a flat rate of 10ps per 10kb, but our great RCOM has barred access for all apps other than RWorld. Postpaids have the choice of taking the 99/199 plan and yet pay through their noses.
  11. Gsm Operators Add 9.3 Mn Users In Feb

^^^ So, 5 mln last month also included CDMA?
  12. Mobile Internet Working / Not Working ?

^^^ have you successfully migrated to prepaid or are you still on postpaid? If on postpaid, try with socket settings, maybe your 6265 had http settings earlier.
  13. Mobile Internet Working / Not Working ?

Since morning today, again WAP is not working... Hows the scene elsewhere?
  14. Gsm Operators Add 9.3 Mn Users In Feb

@savramesh, Any news about RGSM numbers for Feb.'09? In Jan.'09, they got 5 mn customers, AFAIK.
  15. Now Reliance GSM Got New Unique Series Of 095

^^^ Sadikk is right, it was proposed that mobiles will have 11 digits preceding it with an Additional '9'.
  16. Non SMS Stuff

    Thanks Greatest!!!!
  17. Gprs/edge In Reliance Cdma Network?

Try it now. Wap is once again working...
  18. Mobile Internet Working / Not Working ?

It is working for me now. And i have not subscribed to any data plan...hope it remains as it is....
  19. Gprs/edge In Reliance Cdma Network?

^^^ No he may have used WAP on R-CDMA. Till 3 Mar'09, WAP was working, now it has been blocked by RCOM.
  20. Excellent app, Dr. Thanks. Keep it up.
  21. Mobile Internet Working / Not Working ?

In prepaid I doubt if you can use Opera Mini at all. Because for prepaid they do not have any Mobile Internet packs in the 1st place. So dont hurry and take your decision after checking thoroughly. In case you do check with prepaid, please post your experience here. Even I want to give up my DAPO and migrate to prepaid.
  22. Mobile Internet Working / Not Working ?

^^^ How is the speed with "http"? Is it slower than "socket"? Or same? As for the billing, wait for the bomb to arrive next month. All will be clear only then. CC will not be able to answer any questions, they are useless people. Just don't waste time talking to them. In this matter (Mobile Internet etc) they are a very big zero.
  23. Non SMS Stuff

I love this Doctor! Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true? A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... Don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap. Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables? A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables.. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products. Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake? A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up! Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio? A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies your ratio is two to one, etc. Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program? A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain... Good! Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you? A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! .... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you? Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle? A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach. Q: Is chocolate bad for me? A: Are you crazy? HELLO! Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around! Q: Is swimming good for your figure? A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.. Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle? A: Hey! "Round" is a shape! Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.. And remember: Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO, What a Ride' AND...... For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies. 1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. 2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. 3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. 4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. 5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.
  24. I think it is a fairly good initiative by BSNL. One can call any STD fixed landline (incldg. BSNL and non-BSNL) at Re 1 for 120 secs. However BSNL Mobiles and Other mobiles will still be charged Re 1 per 60 secs. They could have given all ONNET calls at 120 secs instead of 60 secs. Now it is cheaper to call a STD RCOM FWP from a BSNL LL. (Re 1 for 120 secs) as against the Rs 1.20 per 60 secs charged by RCOM under Local 299 plan. It will take RCOM atleast 3 months to grasp the changes in tariffs by BSNL as per previous experiences over the last 6 years.
  25. Mobile Internet Working / Not Working ?

Yes even for me, a DAPO customer, it is not working since yesterday morning. CC does not know a thing about this (Mobile Internet). They are confusing (or is it confounding) it with Net Connect. They do not seem to agree that you can browse from the mobile itself. And surprisingly, the floor supervisor also has no knowledge about MI. Neither is the supervisor aware that Reliance has plan 99 and Plan 199. She told me that these are LTVs (joke of the century) I had to hang up after about 25 minutes of discussions. No point in arguing with nincompoops. I also will convert to prepaid shortly and use this for incoming only. And maybe go in for one of the EVDO cards, when available.
