  1. SMART DAPO customers made hay while sun was shining. Meaning made all possible calls accross india before the billing system was implemented by Reliance.

i got phone in january 03 & billing was effective from may 1,2003. In the mean time our family made all possible calls to all relatives accross india & used it for business calls as well. what i can remember is the bill would have been 18-19k. But it was free since Reliance offered free calls to dapo customers. so basically all 3 yrs till now was free rental & free handset.

    What say DAPO users ?

As far as I can remember, STD calls were not free, only local calls were free. Maybe STD calls were free prior to Feb.'03. I got my connections in Feb.'03 and all STD calls were billed. Only Local calls upto 30.4.03 were full free. And ICLD calls also were charged at that time.

  2. with all this discussion about tariff plans going on ..

Here is a SUggetion to Reliance people.

They should update thier software in such a way... that in everybill they should be able to provide customers which plan would have been best for that month usage pattern.

SO lets say... Mr.X is DAPO customer... he got a bill of 850 Rs (incl of 400 paid in dapo), then they should say that in joy 299zr he would have got 815 Rs bill & that would have been best plan for that kind of usage.

This way customers can understand which plan would be more beneficial to them. This shall increase goodwill of company & even people who are not calculative in nature can benefit from this.

It is very much possible for all operators to provide this type of info, But as far I can remember BSNL, Chennai used to give this benefit to their subscribers called "Best & Beneficial Plan" (dont remember the exact name) some time back and then it was removed all of a sudden with the strange explanation, that it was removed on TRAIs strange recommendation that subscribers should be on specific tariff plans only and not "automatic plans" The SW of BSNL would calculate your usage and bill you in such a way that your bill is the lowest possible amongst all their plans. It worked for some three to six months and one fine day TRAI removed it.

You need not specify any plan and the system would adjust your usage and generate the bill giving you the most beneficial plan. Suppose your usage in one month is 1000 units, then the billing system would put you in Plan 1000, if next month your usage was 3000 units, then you would be automatically in Plan 3000 and again if your usage comes down to 300 units, then for that month, your bill would correspond to Plan 300 or so. All references to plans are hypothetical and not accurate.

Coming to your proposal, please note that no operator will offer you this, because they stand to gain from the subscribers gullibility and lack of awareness of various plans. Most of the subscribers do not even calculate which plan would be most beneficial to them. They are plain lazy or lethargic or even "i care a damn" types. It would be great if all operators offer this facility, which would make all lazy customers to get the best possible plan. I had emailed to the CMO, Reliance at that time and got the standard reply, you could expect from Reliance - "it will be implemented if in the best interests of customer and company."

If only Reliance introduced this, subscribers need not select any tariff plan at all and then one month you would be in DAPO, next month in NJ499, third month in Delight 399, and so on all automatically. It is indeed wishful thinking only. No operator will introduce these automatic plans at all. Becaue they benefit from the subscriber's limited usage in unlimited plans. for example, if DAPO customer uses only 150 mts out of 400 mts, the customer only loses and not the company.

    Keep Enjoying Reliance.

  3. It is in place of the old onnet unltd pack. If you are an existing customer under Plan 500, 1000 or 1500, you can continue to enjoy unltd onnet at Rs 50 pm. But if you migrate to any other plan, you will lose your unltd onnet pack and will be put onto the new ltd onnet pack with the rentals and usage as advised in the link you have provided.

Hope it is clear to you now.

    Thanks

  4. Friends,

I emailed to the CM office today for New ONNet Pack and received their reply in a .doc file which is attached as follows: -

    New_Postpaid_On_Net_Pack.doc

Hope this will help all those who want clarifications.

Attention is drawn in particular to the following deviation in billing: -

    • Billing on new On-net pack - On subscribing to the new On-net pack all intra circle on-net calls will be rated at 15p/min and a discount of Rs.150 (1000 minutes X 15p) or actual usage which ever is lower will be given.

 Eg - If a customer with the New On-net pack makes calls for 400 on-net minutes, then he will charged at 15p for 400 minutes and a discount of Rs.60 will be given.

If a customer with New On-net pack makes calls for 1200 on-net minutes, then he will be charged at 15p for 1200 minutes and a discount of Rs.150 will be given.

There will not be any confusion at all.

    Enjoy Reliance.

  5. Roaming always in Reliance postpaid is equal to intercircle onnet call charges. So for Delight Plan 399, it will be 1.00 per mt and for Del 499, it will be 0.40 p.m.

    @tanveer,

If you want to change to any other plan, you have to call up CC and they will do the needful. However, if you do not do anything (ie you do not want to migrate at all), you will continue to remain on DAPO and enjoy the benefits that you have been enjoying all these three years at 400 pm only.

    Enjoy

  6. yes local r2r calling unltd free if you already have onnet pack activated before 18.3.6.

For National R2R, you get upto 400 mts at 0.40 and thereafter at 1.90.

SMS will be full free to all operators only if you continue in DAPO.

Any ideas why Reliance is offering only in DAPO - full free SMS and in no other prepaid or postpaid plans???? Very surprising considering that they were the pioneers in Free SMS concept. Many would remember the two months add-on pack at 50.00 for SMS to all numbers (upto 10,000 if I am not wrong.)

  7. Friends,

The following is the email I received from the Chairman's office in reply to my query reg. DAPO plan continuance yesterday.

    Dear Mr. Shah,

    Greetings of the day!

This is in reference to your mail addressed to the Chairman.

In response to your mail regarding DAPO, we wish to inform you that after completion of 3 years you can continue with DAPO plan. If you continue with DAPO plan (Call rates, Rentals, Free minutes, Free SMS, R World membership, other conditions) will continue to be same. However you will not be charged other plan charges/finance charges from the date you complete 3 years.

Further to your concern regarding Delight plans, kindly find the details of the same attached for your reference.

Also, we thank you for giving your valuable suggestions. We have forwarded your suggestions to the respective department and assure you that they will consider implementing the same in the best interest of customers and the company.

We look forward to an opportunity to assist you again.

    Warm Regards,

    Madhuri Sagwekar

    Customer Service

    Chairman's Office

I trust the above email will help clear all DOUBTS, for any further clarifications, please feel free to post here. In a gist, like Petar has said elsewhere in this post, "if you want economy in voice, migrate and if you value SMS and Rworld more, continue in DAPO".

However, as I said earlier also, customers can remain in DAPO and use India Calling Cards, for making STD calls. This will be cheaper, I feel. It is a different matter that it is slightly cumbersome, moreover because you cannot save a phone entry starting with "*3xx followed by your desired STD number" So in case you want to make any STD call, you will have to punch in the entire number. This is cumbersome, indeed. The recent mobiles introduced by LG has utilised the # key to its fullest - maybe on these handsets, you could save a phonebook entry with "*3xx-----" for directly dialling from your phonebook using India Calling Cards.

Everything that you enjoyed in DAPO earlier, will continue as it is but only the "other Plan Charges" of Rs 200 will stop from the end of your 36th month. Therefore, by remaining in DAPO, you will pay only 400 for 400 mts of R2R, free unltd SMS, free RWorld membership, free call details, free voicemail, free clip, etc etc.

And yes, if you do not indicate anything to CC, you will remain on DAPO. Only if you want any other plan, you have to ask for migration. So for clarity's sake, your default plan remains DAPO after 1.5.6 if you have not asked for any migration.

I am enclosing the Delight Plans details as follows: -

    Delight_plan.doc

And yes, the suggestion referred to in Ms. Madhuri's reply email is to the "Bill Plan Reckoner" as suggested by Petar, elsewhere in this post.

Reliance should help customers with a online bill recokner.... where in people punch in thier past 3 or 6 bill details & get results as to which plan would lower thier total montly cost.

    @PETAR,

    QUOTE

What abt SMS? I hope you mean those who continue to remain in dapo

kindly explain what u wanna know abt sms. I meant DAPO customers changing to delight plans shall be charged 25 bucks for R world. If u keep DAPO unchanged then ..all charges are same.

I do not need to know anything abt sms. I know all that is there to sms. Thanks for your kind offer. Your post (earlier to this post) was a bit ambigious. Thats all. In case you need to know anything else, do post here.

    Thanks

  8. For chennai and tn circles, the roaming charges have been increased to 3.00 for ic and 2.50 for local og and 3.00 for std og while roaming. All other charges remain as they are.

A very retrograde step, considering that local rates have been unchanged. Ideally it should have been reduced to 0.50 to any mobiles, 1.00 to any ll and all std at 2.00. This is what is offered by Hutch and Airtel in Chennai/TN. Plus free SMS locally upto 100 per day and national SMS at 0.50 by Airtel and 1.00 by Hutch. And 2.00 for all third party SMS like TV contests etc.

Reliance now wants to charge highest in all areas and emerge as the rich man's mobile company. They want to show higher ARPUs and very high profits before their IPO hits the market.

    Until then, keep enjoying Reliance.

  9. which plan is best if i want unlimited rim local calls and unlimited free sms to rim phones

You cannot get unltd free local rim calls anymore once you migrate to any of the delight plans and you will pay 100.00 as onnet call pack charges for 1000 mts. In both the delight plans, you have unltd onnet sms available free.

What I feel is that Reliance is just fooling DAPO people. Because in NJ399, the taiffs are the same as in Del 499, plus you get onnet sms pack free valued at 50.00 and 160.00 worth calls free. Instead NJ499 is better because it offers you national sms also at 0.50, whereas both Del plans charge you a whopping 2.00, but you also pay 25 + 25 for clip and plan charges. And you pay only 0.75 for any call.

I checked with *333 just now and I got the response that One can choose any of the Del plans or any other plans or remain in DAPO at 400 p m, with no free usage, but free sms to any number across India, free R world???? (I think Reliance will change this - both free sms and free r world, after a few days as usual)

I will continue to remain in DAPO at 400 pm with unltd onnet call pack and free sms. And use India Calling Cards for STD usage. This is I think, the best way to have the best of all the worlds. If R World is chargeable, let it be because with 5340 and 6230, anyway it has very less utility.

    Thanks.

  10. Got some news for existing DAPO customers... new plans are being unveiled...

delight 299, delight 399 and delight 499 are the plan names

    * you will get RIM to RIM unlimited SMS + 25 rs of offnet SMS

    * Re.1 for all india calls

    * in delight 499 and 399, its 40 p/min reliance all india

    * you will get offnet calls discount of Rs.160 also

These are rough points that I heard from a source, more exact details should be available by Tuesday.

The above is same as for existing schemes of NJ 299, RIO 399, RIO 499 with the only addition of Free Onnet SMS pack only. This means that for choosing any of these plans, we get a discount of Rs 50 for free onnet sms pack only. Plus for 399 and 499 we get local calls worth Rs 160.

We need something better, with OFFnet SMS free or about 5000 per month (local and intercircle) Call charges are already attractive with the free discount of Rs 160 which should be offered across any plan we choose.

Hope for the best and pray to all gods that Reliance becomes benevolent with us DAPO customers.

    Enjoy.

  11. In ver 17 which was updated on my 6230 last week, the following were the problems: -

    1. if you select any ringtone as default, and if your phonebook has any entry which will receive calls under default ringtone, then the phone will not ring - it will only show the light. You have to set each and every entry to a ringtone other than default.

    2. same for sms.

Conversely, if you receive a call / sms from a number which is not saved in your Phonebook, then you can hear the default ringtone when a call / sms comes in.

Voice tool menu also is working fine. However, if you select a voice recorded message as your ringtone (which is possible), your phone will hang.

For me, no other problems were noticed.

@ hyd_ladka, is this ver 17 you have referred to above capable of receiving calls with default ringtones?

Please verify with your contacts in LGASC and revert.

  12. As usual *333 will give you different replies for the same query. You can ringp up *333 and you will get a different reply every time. There is no co-ordination and the CCE will base his reply on the way he/she has understood the problem. There is no chance that you will get the same answer.

You can try calling up *333 for the DAPO scheme about three to four times and each time, if you get connected to a different CCE, you will get as many replies.

When I rang up *333 for DAPO from the beginning of this month, the various (hilarious also) replies I got were as follows: -

    1. May 2006, no idea about the date- can be 1st or 30th???? ( although May has 31st also)

    2. DAPO will continue at 400 pm with free sms and 400 mts continues.

    3. You have to move to some other plan, DAPO will Stop on 30.4.6.

    4. If you are unhappy with the new plans, you can surrender - believe me, this is one of the replies I got.

    5. no news yet on new offers for DAPO.

    6. new schemes are still being worked out, please wait patiently. As usual, it will be informed through relevant media channels.

    7. Yes your unltd onnet pack will become ltd onnet pack once you migrate to any new plan.

    8. All free SMS will stop. You have enjoyed for three years, now no more enjoyment.

    9. DAPO will also continue till 31.01.2007.

    Enjoy.
