  1. How do you write so many SMSs to the computer? Did you transfer from your mobile to the computer? What is the procedure to do that? Can it be done from RIM? I also have a good collection of SMSs both in GSM (Nokia N-Gage) and RIM (LG 6230), but I do not have the time to type out each and every SMS on the computer.

  2. They never bothered to fund R&D :D

guess they need to .... in future ... or at least fund rimweb, so that we can continue the research ... and provide a few handsets here :P

    cheers

    Ashok

Amazing Work indeed, Ashok. Keep it up. :):help::D:P

Very true and let them fund rimweb. I am sure rimweb can give them more ideas and ways to optimise use of various handsets, which reliance people are unaware of currently.:grin::grin:

  3. ITs free... i've been doing CRI & DET msgs since ages.... NIL charges for same.

Even we are doing it right from the time this service was launched, But yesterday, this message has appeared alongwith the scores. They will charge Rs 3 for cri or det now onwards. Cannot confirm if this is applicable for DAPO customers or not. I am tired of the endless wait for the helpline officers to come on line, so I cannot waste time trying toclarify this issue with *333. If some of you have a direct connect line with *333, please clarify and post here.

    Thanks

  4. I too experienced the same and my account was debited by rs 296/ for 4 games. No warning was made available before downloading.

I complained to *333 and they told me that I have to see the RWorld rates before I download anything. I will have to pay up, so beware when you download anything from RWorld. There will be no warning for us BREW enabled handset owners. You see, this is the latest technology to loot customers, one way or the other.

  5. When you migrate to other plans, your existing ONNET also will be migrated to the new ONNET plan. You can checkup with HL, CC, WW, WWE or even chairman's office.

Yes if one does not migrate to any other plan, then the unlimited ONNET continues.

My post is for those DAPO customers whose term is expiring on 30.4.6 and who will have to compulsorily migrate to some other plan. And all other customers who want to migrate to any of the One India plans also will have their ONNET packs compulsorily migrated to new ONNET packs.

    Thanks

  6. Website is updated only once in fifteen days or a month. And once you change plans, your unlimited onnet becomes limited onnet. So beware of changing plans. And yes, you pay new monthly charges as well.

And to think that we are getting this treatment from Reliance for being loyal to them over the last three years.

  7. Hi all,

Check out the following link to see the features of this new Nokia 2865 phone. Looks very cool has a big display 128 x 160 with 262K colours, BueTooth, FM etc etc. Only minus is no external memory cards are supported. To be launched in 3rd quarter of 2006. (But will Reliance ever introduce this phone this year?????) Also OS is Nokia series 40 and not Series 60.

    http://www.nokia-asia.com/nokia/0,,87211,00.html

Hope for the best as always. ;)

    Thanks.

Mods. Pl move this post to Nokia Forum.

  8. Now that Reliance have got 1.5 miliion customers in March '06, making a total of 4.5 million new customers over the last four months, I have a sinking feeling that they will just abandon DAPO totally.

They may not continue DAPO plan as was being thought originally at Rs 400 pm. (minus the free SMS facility) All DAPO users who will complete their contract on 30.4.6 will have to move to any of the available tariff plans suitable to their requirements.

In Feb'06, they were saying that they are working out some new plan for DAPO users. Circa April 2006, they now say that users can choose any existing plans.

Another thing, those of you who have unlimited ONNET calling pack with DAPO currently, will have to move to limited New ONNET calling pack which is costlier and also limited in offering. Only saving grace is that now calls to Reliance fixed lines/FWPs/ FWTs etc locally will be free within the first 1000 mts and thereafter at Re 0.15 pm.

So all DAPO users get ready to shift to any existing plan or quit Reliance altogether and embrace Airtel or Hutch or TATA.

  9. The following news clipping will answer all your doubts.

Tata Tele, Infocomm offer mobility on fixed wireless ( April '4,2006, BS)

Wireless fixed phones will have a range of over 60 km, like that of a mobile phone.

Tata Teleservices and Reliance Infocomm have begun offering roaming on fixed wireless phones (FWP) and fixed wireless terminals (FWT) in short distance chargeable area (SDCA). In some cases, the SDCA can cover an entire city. For instance, Mumbai is considered as a single SDCA.

This follows the Telecom Dispute Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) order in September last year which termed FWP services akin to that of wireless in local loop-mobi (WLL-M) services.

“Tata Tele had begun to offer mobility on FWP and FWT a couple of months ago, while Reliance Infocomm started it last month. This enables subscribers to use the services like that of a mobile phone, as FWP and FWT services offer higher pulse rates and cheaper call rates,” industry sources told Business Standard today.

This means that the phone which was to be locked to the nearest base transceiver station (BTS), enabling mobility of a meagre three km radius, has a range of over 60 km, like that of a mobile phone.

The FWP and FWT is much like a landline phone, but the local loop connectivity (connectivity between the exchange and user’s premises) is provided over the air. As it can function even while the subscriber is moving around in a vehicle, or as the car phone, with charges as low as that of a fixed phone.

The helpline numbers of the companies also confirmed this, with the contact call centre executives stating that the phone can be taken around, but not outside the area with a different STD code.

This means that the phone can be used anywhere in Mumbai where the STD code is 022, but not outside the city or where there is a different code.

According to analysts, there is no breach of law as TDSAT in its order has described FWP services akin to that of WLL-M services. The only condition being the service providers have to pay access deficit charge (ADC) to state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.

The companies have over 5.5 lakh FWP customers in the country, spread across all the 24 circles they operate in.

  10. Hi all,

My problem in downloading ringtone from rworld is now solved. When tried

after creating a "ringers" folder in the path \brew\shared using

Bitpim, saved ringtone appeared in the list.

    Thanks Vishal,Honest.

    Regards

    Ajith

    Hi,

I am using 5340 with a serial data cable (of 5130 or 6130 bought from ebay)

But till date, Bitpim does not recognise my handsets (5340 and 6230) and I am unable to proceed further.

Can you please let me know which data cable to use exactly? I am using Bitpim 0.8.07. I also had 0.8.08 which used to hang every often, hence I removed that and reinstalled 0.8.07. However, the same data cable is detecting one of my 350R FWPs and I was able to u/l some of the midi ringtones provided by Vishal Gupta. I tried all combinations and permutations possible to get Bitpim to detect all my phones, but to no avail. I even used LGKDP and UniCDMA, but no success. (Hi, Vishal Gupta, if you could throw some light, please do so)

Anyway with the financial year ending, I had to divert my time to accounts and hence I was unable to spare time for Bitpim. I shall once again try and post if I face any problems.

    Thanks in Advance.

I am attaching a copy of the log as follows:-

  11. I too have six reliance connections. I do not have many billing problems. But initially, I had lot of problems, which were sorted out and credit given to my account. Only thing to be noted here is that you have to have a lot of patience and time. If you get angry and dis-illusioned with them, you will get nowhere. They will just ignore you. However one must follow up his/her case with all levels (from helplines to chairman's cell) and send reminders religiously to get any action.

It needs to be stressed that patience ultimately pays. I agree with Gaurang that one must not judge the entire company by a few disgruntled customers' experiences. And to blame ADA for anything and everything is really silly. Has anyone ever complained that Sunil Mittal or Asim Ghosh or Kumaramangalam Birla is responsible for all wrong things that ever happen in Airtel or Hutch or Idea respectively???? ADA has not visited DAKC over the last one year at all and he has been runnng the company through his trusted aides. If you know the names of these people, you can surely blame them.

Keep your cool and trust intact.

    Thanks
