  1. OK Guys!

    Yesterday I replaced my LG LSP 340E with LG LSP 350R in 800/- Exchange offer.

    And believe me guys, Its a gr8 and very nice phone.

    It also hv R-World so one thought came in my mind that there should be a workaround to upload ringtones :lol:

    So I attached the phone to comp and follow the same process to detect it using bitpim, as I mentioned in the following topic:

    Success! LG LSP340E & Bitpim, Access the File System

    1. First open LGKDP to detect FWP.

    2. Now close it and open uniCDMA and click on HF->DM button.

    3. Now close uniCDMA and open bitpim, select any phone type, now expand file system.

    Now u can successfully browse through file system.

    Following is a screenshot of the filesystem:

    lglsp350r6rk.jpg

    As u can see I hv uploaded all the ringtones in / -> User -> Sound -> Ringer directory. Its the directory, where all R-world d/l ed ringtones r saved! It has 52 KB space to save ringtones. So u can save many ringtones in it. I hv uploaded 21 MIDI ringtones w/o ne problem. :D

    This set only supports MIDI ringtones, as I hv checked by u/l ing DAT, MP3 and Wav files but the phone didnt play them. :angry:

    So ENJOY!!!

    Hi,

    I have got the serial cable now and I did as you have advised and my FWP 350R has been detected by BITPIM.

    Now how to u/l the ringtones. I have the nokia midi ringtones about 20 to 30 of them on my computer.

    What is the procedure to u/l the same?

    I also note from your screenshot that you have some contemporary ringtones on your FWP. Can you please zip these and send them to me at kumarent@gmail.com?

    Another thing - will the same serial cable work for 5340 and 6230 mobile phones also? What phone type to select?

    Thanks a lot in Advance.

    :clap::):);)

  2. confirmed with CC today,

    Plan399 is at 0.85 and Plan 499 is at 0.75 to all lines all over India with 0.40 onnet locally, But roaming ic is still at 1pm (how it is so, is beyond comprehension as r2r std is also at 0.75/0.85 only) Roaming o/g is same as home network, sms is same as existing.

    All in all, a discount of 25% on 499 and 15% (maybe more) on 399 as compared to other operators. But fixed payment at 449/549 minimum is very high. If your usage exceeds 1000 mts, then this is undoubtedly your plan.

    And yes, they have introduced Dream 299 SS all over India now with 0.50 all local and 2.40 all std with local onnet pack available at 125pm.

    Ideally they should have removed clip and plan fees from 399/499 also to make it very attractive. It does not make sense to continue the same.

    Anyway, a good beginning has been made. Lets see what happens to the Plan 499 for FWPs where no onnet, local calls to Reliance WL is also at 1pm (ridiculous) al other calls at 1pm, and 50 for clip is ridiculous and outrageous. Here Plan 299 of BSNL/MTNL/Airtel/Indicom etc is very attractive. In any case, FWPs do not offer roaming even with the home network, so the charge of 549 is outlandish.

  3. you can also check in rworld/reliance directory on a reliance mobile, but maybe you do not have reliance mobile, hence it may be difficult for you.

    Further you cannot expect directory service for mobile phones ( FWPs are more or less mobiles only) No one in India gives directory services for Mobiles, not even BSNL, MTNL or Airtel or anyone else for that matter. Only Reliance has that facility on RWorld.

  4. Tata Indicom has introduced a new Plan 299 with local onnet calls at Re 0.40and all other calls at Re 1.00, with local SMS at 1 and national SMS at 2. If you want free onnet local pack, extra cost is Rs 75 pm. Roaming ic is 1 only but og is not defined,maybe that also is 1 only as in their 499 plan which they copied totally from Reliance.

    Now we have to wait (endlessly????) and see if Reliance will copy Tata's plan 299 or not.

    Wonder what Reliance is upto? All joy 499 customers can seriously consider shifting to Airtel or Tata or Hutch, as Reliance is still sleeping and not wish to wake up at all. Joy 499 customers are paying Rs 250 pm extra for just roaming advantage of 1 pm. Instead they can shift to Airtel 299 or Tata 299 and save atleast Rs 3000 p.a.

    And their 499 + 50 CLIP for FWP is really stupid, considering that one cannot roam within their own circle also. Better to junk this plan and go in for BSNL/MTNL/Airtel (landlines)/TATA. Mind you, in Reliance's 499 for FWP, calls to Reliance local wireline is not at 0.40 but at 1 pm, which is one more ridiculous example of the stupidity of Reliance people in designing plans.

    Let us all get together and wake up this stupid, sleeping Reliance from the deep slumber it has gone into.

    Until then, keep enjoying Reliance???????? ha ha ha

  5. Airtel's tariffs are a2a local at 1 per 2 mts and all others at 1pm and if you pay 599, roaming (in and out) also is at 1 pm. All SMS local and national is at 1. No news as yet on Prepaid, though.

    Hutch is different in that it is available as an addon at Rs 250 pm and all STD calls are at 1 pm, no news on roaming costs. All other tariffs remain the same as per your existing plans.

    In this way, Hutch seems to be the lowest in tariffs and rentals also. However we have to wait for their roaming charges to know the exact implications.

    BSNL/MTNL's roaming charges are as existing now Rs 2pm for i/c and Rs 1.50pm for all local o/g and Rs 2.40 for std o/g. No further clarifications are as yet available.

    All that Reliance now needs to do in their existing NJ499 plan is to introduce a free addon for local calls at 0.50 pm for m2m and also for m2ll. All other charges may remain as it is. If possible, a rebate in rentals also would be great. Maybe, they can copy from BSNL which rewards its subs of 6 months and above with great discounts in rentals.

    Anyway, lets wait and watch what Reliance offers now.

    Till then, keep enjoying Reliance.

    Hi,

    Pl advise the data cable which you are using? Is it 6130 serial cable or is it the one sold by Indicom?

    Further using Bitpim, can one take a backup of phonebook? If not possible, pl advise any other sw's and their availability.

    :grin::grin::help::help:

    Thanks

  7. Everyone is waiting for the other to announce their schemes and tariffs so that they can introduce something better.

    We now have to see who takes the lead in announcing new plans.

    Reliance has over the last six months to one year has become over cautious and is playing the role of follower rather than being a leader. It is indeed sad that India's biggest telecom company has been reduced to this level.

    Hope Reliance takes the initiative and announces their plans first.

  8. Hi Friends,

    I plan to take a Reliance mobile connection. I have a Reliance LSP 350R FWP & intend to keep in touch with it thru the mobile. My usage is going to be mostly STD (Inter Circle). What plan will be suitable for me - Prepaid or Postpaid.

    Also is there any scheme (like family & friend plan) were by paying some amount we can talk unlimited with particular phone numbers (like in my case).

    Also Is Reliance better than other services like Hutch, Airtel, Idea, Tataindicom, etc in this case.

    :grin: Any Help will be greatly appreciated.

    Shubhro

    Dear Shubhro,

    As you already have a FWP, dial *333 or *366 and you may get the info you require. But my experiance with these helplines is that for anything and everything, "please visit the nearest WW"

    Jokes aside, you can preferably go in for postpaid and New Joy 499 since you will have heavy STD usage. And yes if you do not call up STD landlines, you may also take NJ 399 wherein all India mobiles is at Re 1 pm and all other STD is at Rs 2.50. (IN NJ499, all India any calls is at Rs 1 pm and local onnet calling in both plans is at Re 0.40 pm)

    The Reliance people also offer CUG facility (at a nominal rental) whereby you can call from your mobile to the FWP, but it is chargeable at 0.40 pm and is not free from M2FWP but vice versa, it is full free. Maybe you can use the missed call facility to take full advantage. Reliance also has onnet packs to enable you to make your entire circle into a CUG unlike the other operators except Indicom. Further if you activate CUG or Onnet on both the lines, call diverts from FWP2M will be full free and from M2FWP will be at Re 0.40 pm. Call diverts to any other RIM across your circle will be full free. FYI, call diverts is not available in prepaid.

    You can also browse or search the forum for getting a more detailed analysis on the pros and cons of pre and post paid services etc.

    All operators have their plusses and minusses and it entirely depends on how you use their services to your utmost advantage.

    Hope the info is sufficient for you. You may also browse the website of Reliance at www.relianceinfo.com.

    Keep Enjoying Reliance. :cry::biggrinthumb::angry::grin::grin::grin:

  9. Comprehensive information HYD LADKA... I wish LG took so much pain in designing the phones with some actually useful feature. & reliance took pains in describing the needs of customers.

    Really great info from hydladka.

    :cry::biggrinthumb::angry::grin:

    BTW, any such info on 5340 and 6230 wrt memory? Does the 6230 really have 128MB? Do you have any info on how this 128MB is allocated? any new sw updates for these and also for 350R FWP?

    What about BREW RWorld? Will it offer us the complete RWorld and when? At the rate at which Reliance is adding new applications, it will easily take another five years or more to equal 2030's RWorld capability. And for your your info, these are latest generation multimedia handsets. Wonder why Reliance is fooling customers?

    Thanks in advance.

  10. Page on reliance infocomm website describes network in these words

    "Wireless network covering over 2,400 cities/towns, to expand to over 5,700 cities AND 4,00,000 villages by December.

    4,300 Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) across the country, to increase to around 8,500 by December."

    Now I am bit confused which 'December' they are talking about, coming one, or gone one. As page is static for last year or so since i checked last.

    any idea guys.

    -prakash

    Maybe even these pages are not updated till date. All info is stale on RIMs Website as in their CC dept.

    :grin::cry::biggrinthumb::grin::angry::grin::grin::ph34r::ph34r::unsure::unsure:

  11. well this will be a boon almost for RIM.......that users of GSM services can now switch on to RIM without spending much....only a sim (RUIM) can do it!........ and also a boon for RIM loyal users who worry abt network while travelling keeping a SIM is all you need...

    I very much doubt if Reliance will ever introduce these dual network handsets. They know the disadvantages (to them) very well and they dont care a damn for their customers at all. It is only wishful thinking on our part. :cry::biggrinthumb:
