Will CDMA suffer from this hike too? I thought this whole 2G scam was related to GSM cause CDMA works on different frequency. I thought 2G scam was about the 850MHz/900MHz(whichever works in India) band.

For future reference I am making a post to solve this issue without factory resetting the device. You need to use this method if you are in following position(all of them): 1. Data is not enabled on you phone or it is turned off. 2. You have WiFi connection available and you have connected to it before but right now WiFi detection is turned off in your phone. 3. USB debugging* is on in your phone. 4. Have installed Android SDK** on your PC. 5. You have connected your device with your Gmail account. Connect your phone to your PC. Start Command prompt and use the following command: adb shell sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db update secure set value=1 where name='wifi_on'; Alternatively you can use following command: adb -s $PHONESERIAL shell "svc wifi enable" I would go with the first one anyday for the sake of easiness. Restart your phone after this and once you are back On, your WiFi would be enabled and you can log in to your gmail account to unlock your phone. *USB debugging should always be on. As soon as you get your phone, turn on the USB debugging feature. **You can get loads of video on youtube demonstrating how to download and install Android SDK on your PC.

My 1X speed are pretty decent. I get above 100 kbps which is nice for a 144 kbps connection. But EVDO speeds are awful. I have never even touched 200 kbps till now.

What about that phone called Meizu MX dual core. If you can go for Chinese phone then this will be best bet for you. This has everything you need.

@Joshm: What difference would proof of purchase really make? Its not like you do can anything except not helping him, which is not that big of a deal cause sooner or later he will find a way to fix it. Besides here is is always the chances of fake ids and all. @OP: Do a factory reset. If you are not able to do it then you are doing something wrong. Is the phone letting you to boot into recovery?

Price seem reasonable. Similar to Gaffar Maket people. I suggest the owner to watch the whole process if possible. Sometimes these people take out original parts and remove them with cheap chinese parts.

Thats the problem. Don't have any RUIM based handset and all my friends are GSM users. Guess I will just ask the Reliance Web Wrorld guy just in case he has a spare RUIM handset. I will activate on it and then activate it on my non RUIM handset.

I have a query. Recently bought a foregin CDMA handset registered on Reliance. As seen in my profile I am a Voda user hence went to Reliance World for porting. They ported my number and gave me a new SIM and told me once this SIM activates dial 18002000024. I suppose it would be ported out on 4th, since I requested it on 28. The question now is how do I activate the number. I don't have a RUIM set. Would it be possilbe to directly go to Reliance World and tell them to transfer to my Non-SIM handset and activate my number from it or do I need a RUIM based handset?

If you pick up annual crime reports you will see Delhi has most number of rape cases among all states. Thats really shameful considering New Delhi is India's capital. Its really frustrating to pick up newspaper in the morning just to spot a new rape case in Delhi most of the times. I have noticed one thing over the years that most of the rapist don't consider themselves to be part of society and hence they don't have to worry about anything like reputation\self esteem\career. They just commit the crime without thinking of the consequences, a thing people like us have to think about before doing anything big. Most of the girls getting raped are minor, and as bas as it sound, it is true. Now coming over to the justice factor. Do you people think killing thse delinquents solve anything? It won't bring the girl back. What we need in not the death penlaty but an example. We need to set an example that would make these type of people think twice before doing anything like this. One last thing I would like to say before ending this post. Can we really blame these criminals? Let me rephrase it. Should we blame only these criminals? I think there is more to it. Their families are just as much responisble if they praying for the well being of their sons right now. Last but not the least is the so called society. We have been too much lenient with this types of crime. We need to take proper measure to put all this BS to an end.

Update: I would like to update my last post. The success rate isn't 100%. My friend recently bricked his handest and went to a local repair shop to get it fixed. But according to the local fellow JTAG failed on the device. Actually I know about JTAG service availability in Manish Market even though I live in NCR. Couple of months ago I bricked my handset and was looking for a fix over the internet. At that time I found a person who got his bricked handset revived at Manish Market. They took Rs 800 for it and gave the handset back to him in one hour. Now this is an old news and I don't know if they do same thing now or not. Localites can try it out. Don't forget to post your experience here just for the sake of awareness. @tomemmanuel : Success rate is 100% as far as I have heard.

There are a whole bunch of people who provide JTAG service in Gaffar Market, Delhi. I don't know about other areas though. They normally charge 1,500 for a phone and time taken varies from device to device.

Any luck beyond virtual port? I am no expert but if DFS demo version is reading the device then you can save the log and see how it is doing that, like writing stuff. See if that works. I don't have an iPhone so I can't try anything. Thre's a seller selling locked iPhone 4 but hasn't responded to my post so far. will try something once I get one.
