    I recently bought this ZTE N919D which is the same as Blaze 5.0..I am using MTS SIM which came with offer of 100GB but my problem is i cannot use 3G in CDMA it connects to 3G but not working in 3G speed.I tried to change APN configuration as MNC in configuration is not set to my state but when ever i try to change it the settings did not worked it automatically deletes the APN setting so again i have to restore the APN Configuration..Can any one clarify me what would be the problem?

    check post no 16...... then you can manually select 1x/evdo/hybrid mode...

    my case is slightly different... i recharged for 150+15=+80= 380Rs.. then send message as " buy stv351" to 51230 ... received message like " amount deducted successfully " .... but when i checked data balance, it is reset to zero .. contacted cc ... same answer what you got ... then closed complaint and gave me appellete mail id ... sent mail to that mail id... but got same ans .... they cant refund my money also .... so i lost data balnace as well as 351Rs ...

    problem is they have 2 format for validity ... one is midnight nd other is 24hr format.... i recharge 52Rs ( 5000 min mts to mts free 28days ) ... validity ends in midnight format ( my current pack ended yesterday night 12)

    data pack ends exact 30day from recharge time ( you can check when you get message after you disconnected data )

    my 2 pts

    i am using mts since last year.....

    speed depends on various points.... i have checked with huawei EC 1561,zte AC 2766 and motorola droid max hd

    huawei EC 1561 ---- 700kbps to 1.3mbps

    zte ac 2766 ---- 1.3 to 1.8mbps

    motorola max hd ---- around 2.2mbps (sometime 2.7mbps)

    i have checked at same place,same time, same sim .....

    then again checked another place ---- huawei gives 700kbps and zte gives 1.3mbps ......

    I am using Apex Launcher. it has option for creating shortcuts for app activities.

    Long press on home screen >> Shortcuts >> Activities >> com.zte.emode.NetworkType

    it will create an icon at home screen. hit it and you'll see options for 1X/EVDO/Hybrid modes.

    this option is also available in Holo launcher but it performance slow.

    Played with blaze 5.0 for five days. Here's my experience with it.

    Seller: Not very responsive to phone calls. One of three handsets came locked to MTS network. Mailed him for resolution and waiting for his response (24 hours have passed). Good that he is based in Delhi only.

    Packaging & Shipping: No extra protective packaging was done. All boxes were covered in ebay brand packets and shipped through Aramex. Faced delivery issues with one of shipments. The phone box is a plain white box with a logo of MTS and import label. No other printing. I liked it :)

    Accessories: 1Amp Charger, micro-USB cable, ordinary 3.5mm headset, 100GB SIM.

    Phone Appearance: Not cheap looking; but MTS logo at the back destroys it. Thankfully, on this phone the MTS logo is not red but silver colored.

    Build quality: Better than samsung Stellar (I have used only one samsung phone). This Blaze has survived a three feet free fall without any signs. But not comparable to any HTC/Moto android handset.

    Display: Ordinary TFT with 480x854 pixels resolution. Looks too ordinary.

    Camera: MTS is lying about camera. Its actually a 5MPx camera, not 8MPx.

    Performance: you will hate it, but you will use it. I dont' play games. so can't tell how it performs while using heavy apps.

    Pros:

    • Dual SIM
    • Low SAR value. (I am always worried about it)
    • Tethering/Hotspot without issues.
    • Widget switch for turning data on/off.
    • Clear sound through earpiece.
    • Earpiece doesn't leak sound.
    • Good Loud speaker.
    • Good Signal reception for both GSM/CDMA.
    • Uses microSD as default storage for all purposes (installations/data/etc), so you won't feel bugged for low internal storage space.
    • Battery survives the day. Don't forget to charge it for the next day.
    • Doesn't get heated while charging.
    • Takes about 2.5 hours to charge to 99% from 10%.
    • Its Got FM!!! :)

    Cons:

    • Not Dual Active. You loose one network while using the other.
    • Ugliest interface I have ever seen, no uniformity across apps (SMS/Dialer/Calender).
    • Senseless choice of colors for SMS app.
    • Can't use different dialer/sms apps, as this phone needs dual-network aware apps.
    • Quad-core is waste as it lags sometimes (this is first time, I am using an android phone that lags).
    • Default BT status is 'visible forever'.
    • Its heavily modified AOSP. Xposed framework doesn't work comfortably. Few options in Gravity module make it slow. You need to experiment here.
    • Whatsapp crashes often. very often.
    • 3.5mm audio-jack has issues (perhaps reversed pins). Generic wired handsfree do not work. I am using BT handsfree.
    • Gets heated during data usage even on 1x.
    • Bad camera.

    more cons:

    • google hindi input app doesn't work.
    • google voice input doesn't work.
    • google now launcher doesn't work.

    TIPS:

    • Disable MTS apps through apps_info. Though they are not intrusive/hogs.
    • Install a different launcher.
    • Create shortcut to activity: com.zte.emode.NetworkType for switching between 1x/EVDO/Hybrid.
    • Root it with SRS-Root (If you have the itch).
    • To get rid of always discoverable state edit build.prop: debug.bt.discoverable_time=5. It will keep BT discoverable only for 5 seconds, but it will be discoverable for 5 seconds each time you turn BT on. I couldn't find a way to keep it hidden state by default.
    • A matte screen-guard is recommended for this low-res screen. You have to live with a custom-cut piece ;)

    thank you for your detailed review.... but i have one doubt about your 3rd tip... mblaze 5.0 has hybrid mode by default.... how to change it to 1x only or evdo only ???

    Prasad can you elaborate a bit more on the touch screen please.What do you exactly mean touch is not so great is it unresponsive or like if you click one other gets selected etc.Sim 2 only calls/sms? you mean to say only 2g works and no no 3g.Elaborate on these points thanks

    1. not like that..... but not as smooth as electrify m ( you have to press little bit harder )

    2.internet is through cdma sim only .... gsm is for calls and sms only ( no 2g and 3g )

    3.also internet speed is less compared to electrify m ( in electrify m i got around 800kbps to 1.5mbps easily but in mblaze 5.0 i got around 700kbps max)

    so if your area is covered by cdma signal, single sim cdma set is best ( electrify m/razr m ) .... now i bought electrify m ( yet to receive from ebay ) .... my friend is waiting for razr max hd

    i also bought mblaze 5.0 for my friend at 8990 (oct 1st ) ..... he had motorola electrify m earlier ....

    set is very slim .... but touch is not that great compared to electrify m....

    camera is good even at night with flash.....

    battery backup is excellent

    speaker is also excellent ( earpiece too )

    gsm slot is for call and sms only

    now i am using smart sim into unlocked data card (rev A )

    getting max 1.5mbps ( tower is 12km )

    Would like to know if MTS puts any kind of restriction for using the SIM with the device its combined with?

    I am using this smart phone sim with unlocked huawei ec306 rev B (3.5G) modem for the past 6 months. There is no restriction. At the time of activation recharge for Rs.198 to start this offer. MTS gives 10 GB data for every 30 days in 3.5G speeds and after 10GB usage speed reduces to 2G. The validity of free data is only for 30 days. You should do a data carry forward recharge before validity ends (before expiry date and time). If you are not doing the carry forward recharge before the date and time, the free offer will be lost permanently. So this is very important to recharge with in the validity period of data. The next validity stars from date of recharge, that is if expiry date is November 20 and you are doing recharge on November 5, you will get next validity up to December 4 (not up to December 19). Here in Kerala the carry forward recharge is Rs.196 for 30 days and Rs.351 for 60 days. In other circles this amount is different. For Rs.351 the validity is extended to 60 days but for the first 30 days you will get 10GB 3.5G speed data, if 10 GB is used before 30 days then speed is reduced to 2G and 31st day onwards you will get another 10 GB data in 3.G speeds.

    not recently...... but when i checked 2 year back ,i got full signal both 1x and evdo ( jp nagar 6th phase ) ...... no problem for voice .... i dont know about data...... airtel is very worst for internet ... 2g--- only 64kbps .... 2g pack on 3g modde-- 64kbps..... my friend recently bought motorola electrify m from ankit ..... he is fully satisfied ..... he is using for voice,sms,data...... one advantage is cdma has better coverage .... you may not face signal problem inside city..... but when went outside then you know difference .... yesterday i went to some place.... just 4km from talluk head.... only mts has full signal.... recently mts has launched gsm+cdma android set for 6290Rs ..... dual core,512mb ram,4gb internal memory...... monthly 10gb ( you have to recharge 197Rs/month ) for 10 month.....they have given me 3 month free offer ( half paisa calling )
