Updated: 3G Auction completed after 34 days of bidding
kshah replied to Arun's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
But if we talk about number of subscribers world wide, 3G is still in infancy and also no one is able to provide good data speed except for NTT DOCOMO. With about 1/4th of max suppored speed in 2G, I doubt how sucessful and efficient 3G in India wil be? -

2100 Mhz means WCDMA. Means just 384 kbps (Sorry for some rimwebians for whom even GPRS is 3G ) . I think CDMA will still rule. I am confused, wants to switch over to GSM but data speed scares me to switch over. May be same with many RIMWEB users. Read this few pages so it clears that what should we have in future. GSM or CDMA? http://www.novatelwireless.com/technology/umts-gprs.html http://www.nokia.co.in/A4534107 (Read about data transfer speed atleast) -
You need phoenix and tun file to write to your phone. Once TUN file is written then your phone will be on network. Then write PRL and NAM data. Better you go to Nokia ASC and get it written, its just a matter of few minutes for them.

Possibly yes. One has to try.

GSM guys has always been crating hurdles, even when reliance and tata entered in 2003 or 2002. They just want to protect their inefficinet technology and network at the cost of consumenrs, they do not want to reduce prices nor want to serve rural customers as per license terms.

Me, hetal and Sadik always believed that once reliance gears for GSM means portability of number and also 3G. Now real war will begine. Reliance will surely offer cheaper voice over CDMA and premium 3G + high end user will be attracted on GSM. Also portability of number means most reliance customers will remain with reliance (also tata) and many GSM users will switch to reliance. Yeah sadik, now I think I will have too look for good GSM handset. Iphone is one of the option but unfortunately it do not support call recording. -
Cdma & Gsm - Touchscreen
kshah replied to profcalculux's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
coolpad is youlong make handsets and if availaable then one should go for it as they r good n reputed manufacturer. but remember all chinese handsets has very poor softwares and pc sync softwares are either poor or not available at all. worst than LG pc sync. -
hope they bring good handset but I am sure it will not support web features as no operator has made settings open. may be they can target non web users.
-
I dont think it will make any difference. Because they already knows it. Perhaps CDMA operators are not allowed by qualcomm to provide unlocked handsets. Tata too do not mention it publicly that they do accept foreign ESN.

Seems telco top brass's brain is "over cooked" due to microwaves. And classics has higher SAR so it cooks brain better. Good joke for diwali

LG usually has pport selection on phone (from my experiance o 2030 and 7230) where you have to select port either USB or serial and baud rate. Try looking in these areas.

Its my personal preference, I do not like LG's some how. L7 is metal body, even menu is good in KRZR so must be so in L7 only thing is battery capacity. Check battery capacity. RAZR has just 820 mAH battery. Must be same for L7 and I doubt if 800 mA battery will last even for day and half on CDMA

Only problem with CDMA is handsets and secretive approach to handset configuration and no availability of SIM cards as standard. Else reliance is really a good wide network, superior data speed across entire network. In GSM it is always location specific, superior voice quality, fever call drops. Also its cheaper than GSM. Reliance is well accepted by consumers and thats the reason why they are number 2 in sucha short span. All operators are moving towards GSM because of intelactual property issues with qualcomm and evolution of GSM. Still CDMA remains superior technology than GSM even if GSM becomes WCDMA, CDMA will remain superior. But I will be first person to switch to reliances GSM because of handset and my faith that reliance will come with better technology and services than others.

Screen and on board memory wise I think LG is the best but softwares of LG are so pathatic. Also PC sync softwares are like stone age softwares. Mototrola now uses standard Mini USB interface that is really great USP.
-
it seems motorola L7 is better option than LG6600. both are almost same
-
I will suggest PPC 6700 over BB. Because of loads of softwares available. BB may have better battery life.

I bought one yesterday for my business partner, will post review after day or so, I bought it for 10.5K in ahmedabad

This is misguiding, battery is cutoff at 3.4-3.6 V DC. And devices can work upto 3-3.2 V DC (Most peripherals operates at 3V DC). However to prevent battery from deteriorating it is cut off at 3.4- 3.6 V DC. Also radiation is harmful. It is very well known fact. But the issue is we can not now live without cell phones.

New chipsets by qualcomm are more secured. Still no one has cracked 6800, some of data cards (EVDO with chipsets above 6500). Also once reliance and tata shift focus from CDMA, its future in India will be bleak unless qualcomm reduces royalty and CDMA follows open standards like GSM.

Can Reliance Enabled Nokia 1325 Work On A Tata Uim
kshah replied to carbinem4's topic in Technical / OS related
I think 1325 is locked the way other CDMA handsets are locked. Because this is perhaps first handset where it is mentioned that "CDMA by Qualcomm" Till now nokia was not used to mention this. And I think this is the frist handset from nokia which gets connected to bitpim -
hearing problem is there in even 2865, as my partners father is experiencing. However he got it repaired from local repairer for 300 bucks. He just did not bothered for warranty because nokia takes more than 3 weeks for such small repairs in CDMA. I feel sorry as I myself suggested this handset before 6 months.

Tata can activate not reliance. You have to do some tweaking for that. Me and hetaldp are using 700p since last few weeks. Atleast I am happy.

Then how come people are claiming 245 kbps? I too could not get more than 80kbps with almost double latency than CDMA (More than 1800 mS CDMA about 800-1100 ms) Ofcourse price of unlimited plan per day is better than CDMA. But may be becauise of speed they re cheaper
