Thats not very thrue, CDMA on 450 mhz is far better than 800/1900 MHZ for data as well as voice. GSM and cdma data speed has to be different becuse of technological difference. GSM is old inefficient technology. I feel suffcated in CDMA because of handsets but only voice quality and data connectivity all over India keeps me with CDMA. GSM go to small town and see the difference. Whats wrong if thela wala uses mobile? This country is full of such peope and you and me are above them because they give us oppotunity to earn and we studied with government fnds because they did not asked for share. If you read and ask people in US, they too are not hhappy with so called 3G of GSM. For real good data CDMA is best. GSM can be comparable when it swithces to WCDMA and once GSM switches to WCDMA handset options will be as limited as CDMA because of high royalties and patent issues. After going thru your posts I tried airtel data conections and compared with reliance's but it is no way better than reliance infact patahtic, atleast in ahmedabad and else where in gujarat, bangalore and delhi (I checked these places) Read this where airtel has said 100kbps or 40 kbps http://airtel.in/pdf/datacard.pdf Here they say http://airtel.in/level2_t3data.aspx?path=1/106/179 247 kbps but as usual GSM speed is subject to network type and quality, CDMA 2000 (1X) means 144 kbps. Perhaps you are one of those few in the world who accepts superiority of GSM for data over CDMA. FYI, my treo 700 p connects to my computer as modem at 920 kbps doesnt mean it gives me 920 kbps speed

As I mentioned, till you use GSM on TDMA, once you switch to WCDMA it is almost same as CDMA. There is difference in emission by handset also. Its a long explanation. You may read it at wikepedia or SAR information sites.

My experience with GSM is differerent. It has better voice quality. In CDMA the quality of voice is not good, but it is louder. Call drops is more. Hope it may be the problem with Reliance network. If SAR is higher, can we understand that for health GSM is better.??? Yes GSM appear to be better for health but its better till you use is it as and on TDMA. As soon as it becomes 3G data device (WCDMA) / EGPRS it is as worst as CDMA perhaps more. VOice quality could be poorer for cdma when there is congestion / in specific area. Else cdma is suppose to be beter in voice quality and data quality. Also it is cheaper because of efficiency. In CDMA call drops when tower is having more number of subsrciber and when handset can not transmit with higher power. You may be aware than in CDMA battery consumed is more when net work has congestion. Because handset transmit at higher power. where as in CDMA its constant, hence call drop. CDMA has better handoff than GSM. Hence again fever call drops when handset moves from one tower to another

Therefore SAR is higher in CDMA than GSM.

It was a said but does not appear to be, look at hte figures of indicom after so many years, they are no where. Despite having most respected and trusted brand.

Good if tata comes to GSM, that way consumer will be free from superior but monopolistic CDMA technology and TATA will survive in telecom. But as usual they are last.

It appears that reliance will get 1800 Mhz only. And they will be interested in 1800 Mhz only because CDMA network on 800 Mhz and 1800 Mhz of GSM requires almost same numbers of towers.

No one can beat reliance because of money and their ability to deploy project on time. All others are just business guys where as ambanies are visionaries. And infact India need people like Ambanis to stand against multinationals. Now Portability is just a step away (by the time they get spectrum in hand and roll out first phase in major cities). By March 2008 I am sure MNP will be there and then I will remain reliance customer with GSM handset in my hand. Though CDMA is superior, GSM is catching faster. I dont mind sacrificing little voice quality and I am sure reliance will come with better and efficient technology than all existing player.

With so many requirements, there are only two handsets i.e. BB and PPC 6700. Still FM radio will not be there. Such handsets are available with all your need in GSM only. Hence punit suggested right. Dont go for RUIM phones if you are looking for CDMA international roaming. And if you want CDMA + GSM int roaming then BB is the only choice, else you have to keep two handsets.

But reliance will be and should be winner. Reliance GSM will bring yet another revolution in telecom, atleast I believe.

These are just power management tweaks has nothing to do with battery voltage, tweaking battery voltage values can cause blast. Seems to be valid tweaks.

Browser is just OK, it can not open certain site especially like ebay where heavy java scripts are used. Ofcourse I use mainly for emails and is very happy, rather happier than PPC 6700. My another requirement was call recording, which this phone does better. If you are using sites which are designed for IE and requires IE only for security purpose than built in browser and most availble browsers are not upto the mark Tweaking is not very difficult.

In India Broadband is defines as 256 kbps, means proper implemetation of even EDGE could be sold as broadband

I have Cracked Latest firmware of iPhone which i got from Apple online store on 3rd October @ $ 399 + $ 25 Taxes and $ 50 of Shipping to my Address Downgraded to 1.02 firmware then Erased the baseband and then again flashed with 1.02 and now its fully unlocked. Thus is very cheap in my Hand just wait for somedays you can find a good deal on iPhone and really iPhone is 1000 time Better then Blackbery. mark my words Also I feel treo 700P / 755P are good options at much better price.

If you do not have data requirement and ready to sacrifice bit of voice quality, then GSM is better. And my experience is that BSNL is the best for voice, again at little cost of quality of voice.

These are ery common problems with most chinese phones, including dexian, youlong (both are very reputed and big manufacturers in china). These guys makes good handsetss too. but software is always an issue.

Daxian is chinese, ofcourse they make good phones but probably software support is a big issue.
