Seems to be a good news. Qualcomm will surely get hurt so is CDMA. Also other GSM players in India will be on toes now. Now just portability of numbers and fun begin.

China is going to try and kill CDMA for their TDSCDMA. GSM handsets has very few patents where as CDMA has plenty of patents. Though chinese too use qualcomm chips, they are really trying to push TDSCDMA to fight qualcomm.

CDMA will die if it does not take actions for handsets and prices of handset as most operators are not interested in handling handset hessles. But at the same time CDMA being more efficient and faster for data, it can survive if country like India uses it. China will focus only on TDSCDMA and GSM because of its investments in TDSCDMA research.

Remember GTRAN fiasco? Warranty means you are protected just for 1 year. Not more than that. I too literally thrown away GTRAN handset after 14 months. There was no one to hear. I think CDMA 450 is very sucessful in Russia where they have very thin population spreaded on very large area. Also they are educated and high user of Data.

It is probably not problem with Nokia it is at both ends, i.e. service provider as well as proxy server of opera. Miniopera downloads thru proxy server and at times proxy server is down or can not be reached due to various reasons.

TDSCDMA is pushed by china and I think it will be leading technology in time to come. Also perhaps CDMA 450 will be another technology which will emerge becasue of good performance in EVDO.
