Secret Service Codes for All LG Handsets
kshah replied to net_secrets's topic in Technical / OS related
Only ESN changing is Illegal, so dont worry. Enjoy and do experiments with your handsets, keep in mind that your handset may become useless or you may have to go to service station if you make some mistake. If ou are not talking about changing ESN than its legal. To register your phone to tata, you have to change SID/NID and PRL. then go to tata, give them ESN of handset, activate on tata.

I will suggest you to go for PPC 6700 rather than this piece of junk. Or get any PDA (Treo 700 / 650 / PPC 6700)

Recycling used cellular, like US, buy old handset, refurbish, sell. In India there is huge potential. Buy handsets in bulk, even 100 buck profit will be huge sum. NO CDMA please. Only GSM.

Mobile Internet, Edge+gprs Is Much More Faster Than Cdma
kshah replied to cmahendra's topic in Data services
Purpose of this forum do not seems to be fight and I dont think any one is fighting. Read on airtel site max 5 active slots. And believe me you get max 3 uplink and 1 downlink. 5 slots only when network is really free. Max speed can be achieved only if all 10 slots are alloted and also if MCS-9 (59.2 kbps / time slot) coding and Modulation scheme is deployed. Most commonly used Modulation scheme is MCS-2 (11.2 kbps) or MCS-3 (14.8 kbps) -
No it can not create any problem, basically battery charging time depends on amount of current charger provides to battery. It is called VA, means mA X Voltage. This current could be limited by built in circuit. Ideally battery can be rechareged efficiently upto 1X (means 1000 mAH battery can be charged upto 1000 mA current) But since batteries are 3.6 V, charging currents are reduced appropriately at higher voltage, 4.8 to 6 V charging voltage is generally used. They reduce charger current to reduce cost thats all. Read more in simple ineresting language at http://batteryuniversity.com Also reliance network consumes more battery these days.

Mobile Internet, Edge+gprs Is Much More Faster Than Cdma
kshah replied to cmahendra's topic in Data services
Believe me I have been trying to switch to GSM since last year and a half and every 3-4 months I do try GPRS of Hutch and Airtel on different handsets and has never been satisfied with speed. If I talk about money I waste due to CDMA you will be surprised. I started CDMA before about 3.5 years with SCH191, paid 3350 upfront and 200 bucks every n\month, then GTRAN 10.5K, then 7230, 10K, then Nok6225 9.5K, then Nok 3125, 5K, Nok5155 10K, PPC 6600 22K, PPC 6700, 18K, Treo 700P 10K. Had it been GSM I may have spent about 25% of what I spent. You can imagine, how keen I must be to switch over to GSM. But data speed really s**ks and I am not talking about only ahmedabad / mumbai or metros, when I am in roaming, any town of india on CDMA gives me data access where as in GSM it is always questionable. -
Palm Introduces New Smartphone For Indian Mkt
kshah replied to Dr.Gagan's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
If it is windows then why one will chjoose palm Treo? Palm OS is really good with few addon softwares. Fastr, stable and lean. -
Its all about marketing and money, because few countires play cricket, BCCI and marketing guys knows that leading in cricket is easiest thing in the world. Indian sports can not be number one in world where 150 countries play, so they brain washed people to belive that 10 countires or 15 countries game is called world cup. Rubbish. Being no 1 in asia is bigger credit than world cup of cricket, ask one cricketer to run 45 minutes and most cricketer will leave cricket in favour of advertisement.

New Dhamaka Very Soon: Wired Telephone Companies Will Close Very Soon Due To Voip
kshah replied to cmahendra's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
what will happen to government and private companies where land line phone bills are used as proof of address???? Also VOIP requires good quality data connectivity, which no GPRS or 1XRTT can give. I still fail to understand since when GPRS has became 244 kbps???? -
I dont expect Reliance to unveil Quality handsets .. Blackberry being an exception .. they will sell more crap i mean more Classic phones only.. Reliance Comm is Sleeping & Tata Indicom is surging ahead I am sure reliance is waiting for GSM, they will target CDMA to compete operators for low end consumenrs, because CDMA costs are cheaper and they can afford lower ARPU, GSM will target high end customers with better call charges as they will be using common infrastructure. Good handset from reliance on CDMA seems to be unnecessary now. As Protability of numbers and licencing is opeining. Tata if do not switch over to GSM will remain marginal operator. Perhaps.
-
No you will not be able to use any third party handset for browsing in CDMA. May be with GSM. Else buy good PDA, where you can browse like normal computer, well almost.

No Oxygen, No Water, No Land, No Light! Total Network !
kshah replied to @ksh@T's topic in The Lounge
Its not only reliance or Airtel or operators, it is about frequencies at which network operates, higher the frequency lesser the penetration. CDMA inherits lesser penetration than GSM. But at the same time it covers more on ground. So I think basically more important is coverage than penetration. If operator puts repeater than network is possible in 3 level down basement too. -
Mobile Internet, Edge+gprs Is Much More Faster Than Cdma
kshah replied to cmahendra's topic in Data services
Ideally GPRS supports only 100 kbps, device may be connected at 247 kbps. I have tried airtels GSM data in Ahmedabad but speed was even poorer than CDMA. Ideally 1XRTT or EDGE can not give more speed than 60-80 kbps with latency of more than 600 ms. CDMA latency is about 100 ms lower than GSM thats why it appear faster. No GSM service provider allow more than 5 time slots, means 14.5X5 = 72.5 kbps (this is burst) so ideally it can not be more than 40-50 kbsp Where as CDMA it is usually 70-80 kbps -
No Oxygen, No Water, No Land, No Light! Total Network !
kshah replied to @ksh@T's topic in The Lounge
is there any standard definition of town and villages? Even government do not have how can private operator can have? -
I dont know about period of contract. SInce Indian call charges are lowest in the world no operator can afford to sell handsets for cheaper and Indian consumer is smart enough not to commit to anyservice provider for longer. I am sure multinationals will have tough time understanding and penetrating Indian market. Only indian companies can tackle Indian customers better.
-
It will be GSM round of classics only. Reliance failed miserably in keeping customers locked to their network for 3 years. THis is not US, here people are smarter. Even in UK vodaphone is not able to keep customers for 3 years on network due to locked handsets. Also in UK, their termination charges are not so high. My frnd bought couple of handsets fr UK recently for about 25-40% less than India price paying all termination charges.

No Oxygen, No Water, No Land, No Light! Total Network !
kshah replied to @ksh@T's topic in The Lounge
I went to WW yesterday, executive said probably there will not be further investments in CDMA, RIM may roll out GSM in next 3 months and Portability at the same time. So I think RIM will retain its customer and also will be new revolution in terms of price and services. Reliance services as improived a lot after ADA has taken over. THis is my experience -
No Oxygen, No Water, No Land, No Light! Total Network !
kshah replied to @ksh@T's topic in The Lounge
I fully agree that Reliance network is best except part of rajasthan and entire north east, coverage is superb, voice quality is far better than any GSM. In last more than 3 years and 3 my main connection with billing of more than 1500 PM and 15 connection with billing of about 300 PM, never faced any problem in billing. My Billing is always lower than my frnd who uses GSM. Only thing I do not like about CDMA is handset varieties and quality. -
Infact multinationals will spoil what Indian companies like Reliance, BSNL and Bharti has created. Bharti ofcourse are not torch bearer of revolition like Reliance and BSNL are. Vodaphone will definately not create competition but they will be interested in making cartel against reliance, tata and BSNL along with bharti. SO that they can influence TRAI BABUS for their benefit.
-
Access to Customer care of reliance seems to be beased on credit level of customer. My credit limit is 12K and I gett access immediately to executive. Whaere as at the same time if I connect using phone with 2K credit limit has to move around in menus for quite some time. CDMA will not remain winner for data once GSM guys makes their house organized. I mean newer technologies, uniform and standard back end support etc. However GSM will remain expensive than CDMA because of technological differences and patents with qualcomm. Certain critical patents for WCDMA is with qualcomm and qualcomm is charging heaven for those patents, because it wants to push CDMA / EVDO because of larger interest. Also TDMA (FOr voice) has to remain expensive due to inefficieny in spectrum use. FOr employees, I will suggest windows based handset, MS EXCHANGE server for push mail and GPRS (650 bucks, unlimited). THis will be cheapest solution.
-
Infact all service providers are trying to sell cheap handsets in urban areas, though they launched it for rural areas. In rural areas they still have problem of coverage. So lets hope vodaphone could bring some change in Indian telecom scenario. May be we are expecting too much

Motorola To Launch Three New Phones
kshah replied to coolrajiv's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
CDMA is expensive because of Qualcomm too. Not only service providers. Qualcomm charge handsome money for all its product. That is the one reason why 3G phones in CDMA or GSM are far more expensive than 2G. Because many critical patents are with qualcomm. -
Memory wipe softwares are available Palm, where if one sends SMS, unit is hard resetted and every thing is wiped off. And P990i is the best PDA cum phone available in market.

Not RUIM enabled yet can be used on reliance. Will guide you if interested. But will not post here.
