Agreed that what we save on talk time is comepnsated with new and new handsets to meet expectations. GSM is really very attractivedue to handsets and 90% of requirement is for voice hence GSM still remains better proposition than CDMA. International roaming is really pain in CDMA as one has to transfer all data to GSM handset. Which is really not possible. I dont agree that Reliance has poor services, perhaps it has really good services, better tariffs, good quality wide network, very good voice and data quality. But very poor handsets. Blackberry is waste if reliance do not provide data roaming and CDMA will not be able to provide data roaming till it becomes like GSM where all settings are in users control.

GSM has its own advantages as well as disadvantages. I am trying to switch over to GSM since last year and a half but not successful because of 1. VOice quality 2. Data speed 3. Tariffs Though we talk a lot about charges by reliance, GSM operators are big time cheaters. Reliance, tata and BSNL has bet tariffs and most transperant tarrifs. Recently I inquired about 20 connections with airtel, I was surprised to learn about their tarriffs Rental : Rs.178 PM Free TT: 100 minutes (here they say rates are Rs. 1 for M2M and M2LL) 101-300 Mins: 0.30 M2M, 1.00 M2LL 301-500 Mins: 0.5 M2M, 1.00 M2LL 501 min above: 1 for both How stupid these charges are? Where as in reliance it is Rs. 199 PM, 150 Rs. TT free, tariff : 0.50 M2M, 1.00 M2LL, no complications means less chances of cheating. in GSM you get really good handset. But using PDA on GSM (GPRS) means driving ferrari in city.

Agreed CDMA handset is big bottleneck for operators. That is the reason why operators world wide are switching to GSM for example vivo of brazil, china unicom etc. Once WCDMA networks are installed i am sure CDMA will be economically unviable for operators. How long they can keep on subsidizing handsets?

CCavenue has good services as I ma been using their services since last 2 years. Only thing is if you want to open online store than you should be ready to shell out 7%. Thats too expensive. Thats true with all CC service providers.

To me it does not appear any faster than AKU 3.5 also smart dialing is not working. So I revert back to AKU 3.5. Theme is good but my preference was towards simple theme. Black color is prefered coz it is easily readable in bright light.

Mobile To Mobile Data Call Using Cdma Usb Modem
kshah replied to rahalim007's topic in Technical / OS related
Data call between two mobile will not be possible as it is blocked at switch level. That is the reason why fax is not supported even on FWT / FWP which are supposed to be replace wired fixed lines. WLL was initially developed for that only. I have tried this in past (When reliance was launched). that time CC was very helpful because they had very few customers. -
Good job hetal. I wish reliance adopt openness of tata.

I cant hold myself from laughing. Spice no sync. It really feels bad when we switch from 6700 to such stupid phone, That is because of stupid reliance policy not to allow phones from others on their network. I used airtel for 7 days buying prepaid connection and borrowing phone from frnd, it is really inferior as compared to reliance in terms of quality of sound. If reliance really start accepting any CDMA handsets on their network, I believe reliance could be nmber one in no time. -

Vodafone Gears Up For Launch

If we think that multinational will come with open policies, then we all are mistaken. They will always come with monopolistic plans then any given company. Reliance is very much on such path and with power of money they can fetch market. -

I dont think this is true. ARPU is almost same for both CDMA and GSM. CDMA is more spectrum efficient so people who chosen GSM for what ever the reason will switch over to CDMA if prices are right. Also premium users (GSM) who roams globally will definately prefer GSM as one handset one number. CDMA can not give that convinience so far and also CDMA handsets are really not for users who wants all facilities in one handset. With prevailing rates there are very few users whose billing is note than 3K (domestic roamers)
