As usual Reliance always goofs up. It is shame on them that they can not provide right inforamtion to customers. This is such a small information. BTW can you roam on GSM using your RUIM? Or carrying SIM given by Reliance?

Network connection on any handset appears to be controlled by SHARED SECRET (Known as SSD_A and SSD_ When I changed SSD key in my 6155, it could not connect to WAP or PPP. If how SSD key is calculated is known I think WAP can be used on any handset. Right now I have RUIM but do not have RUIM handset, so I am unable to conduct any trials. I will post any findings If I get RUIM handset.

Please read this articles and see, it appears that CDMA is moving towards obsoleting ESN and will have something similar to IMEI of GSM. It also appears that then CDMA operators will be concentrating on RUIM rather than ESN based authentication. http://www.tiaonline.org/standards/resources/meid/

After discussing with Reliance CC executive, technical guys and other CDMA experts, it is said that RUIM Phone does not require any PRL upgrades. It works just like GSM. Tanveer, can you give me PRI file of this phone, I want to check WAP settings. I will post my finding based on comparision of 3125, 6225, 6155, 6235 and 6265 so than if possible non wap phones can use WAP. Also I want to try if RIMWEBIANS can save on RWORLD charges by using WAP bypassing WAP servers.

Yet ANother goof up by reliance. Their network is not configured to upgrade PRL in RUIM. Hence any handsets which are RUIM enabled can not be used for international roaming. I too tried one RUIM handset and faced the same problem, then I found out that reliance has made this mistake. As per them one can use RUIM in GSM network for roaming but not in CDMA for the same. Funny but thats reliance. S**Ks

Motorla RAZR V3c does not have RUIM.

All nokia phones support LMS but not enabled by reliace.

Following is just my opinion, may be wrong: 1. Gradually Reliance will migrate to GSM. If they get approval then may be faster, resons, GSM has wider veriety of handsets, better roaming coverage globally, service providers are free from responsibility of handsets. This is the reason why GSM can attract high end users. 2. CDMA handsets will never be as cheap as GSM because of royalty issues. . Because qualcomm will never like to forgo their money. If WCDMA is implemented, they are going to get royalties too. Qualcomm will never prefer excessive usage of RUIM as locked handsets means more revenue for them that too frequently. Look at the Qualcomm website, they make better (High ended) GSM chips than CDMA chips. Still GSM handsets using Qualcomm chip are cheaper than inferior spec CDMA handsets. 3. With emergence of Wi Fi and Wi Max, may be in next few years cellular companies will be again only voice companies, hence 3G or 4G will gradually will become irrelevent and expensive. 4. Look at the trends in US, inventor of CDMA. In last few years GSM has became far far bigger than any other technology because of openended standards and technology. 5. CDMA, TDMA (American version), iden are too close ended and closely held technologies. Hence eventually GSM will be the leading and perheps only technology of future.

The nokai pc suite has a media player inbult which does this job for you.....i also suggest you download the latest pc suit 6.80.22 from their site. the one which comes with 6265 is 6.7 version. the latest version also has a music manager which helps in easy conversion to aac format and transfer of music files from pc to phone. I am using browsing (opera Mini) and Flurrymail (Email) on my 6155 with my MDN as user name and password. I removed all WAP information from my handset. So I think I will be charged for R CONNECT and not RWORLD.

I could send 600 KB MMS to e mail by tweaking 6155. This is just info.

That is problem with all Nokia, my 6155 too can send MMS to e mail but not to phones. I tried sending it to myself but they are never received.

Answers for all your questions are YES. On reliance you may not be able to use R WORLD and MMS if handset is from other service provider.

Dont deal as simple as that. Ofcourse nigeria is biggest dumping ground for all electronic junks in the world and there are companies who really gives great deals. But to get good company from nigeria is as difficult as getting precise answer from Reliance customer care executive, perhaps more.

How come its cheap? Now a days Reliance too offers 4.5 for ILD cards and 6 bucks as normal tarriff. This is about 12 cents means the same.
