download trialreset, remove keys left by AVG in registry. I suggest to take backup first, then run trial reset and see if it works again. Suggested procedure 1. Take back up of registry 2. Run trial reset and remove all keys 3. Run set up of software you want to install 4. Run trial rest again and see which key are reinstalled. 5. Note down keys. 6. Restore registry back up 7. Run trial reset and remove keys as seen in 4 Other option, use AVGFREE

This happens with 6225, 3125, 2280 as I am aware about. I too could never resolve this issue. It may be because of after market cable (may be nokia is using other USB to serial chip than prolific) Try adding extra settings, they are there in CDMA modem user guide. I am unable to locate it in my computer else could have posted.
-
If you look at inf file supplied with DKU2 drivers, there is no mention of 6235 or 6155. Where as drivers downloaded from reliance has. So Nokia drivers do not work. Nothing to do with firmware. Why you bought original cable? I bought cheap after market for 200 bucks as DKU-2 or CA53 are direct USB cables.

Here are screen shot of OPERA MINI browser. Same can be done using WAP browser OR RWORLD as called by RIM. But I think opera charges may be for RCONNECT not RWORLD
-
It could be about 22K. Max, Let me see. I am trying to convince him to send me one sample to check. Also how about PCMCIA or USB Modems with RUIM support? See image attached. Cost about 6.5K. Landed in India.

Bluetooth and expandable memory is a good feature, but when you want access to internet, e mails (all not the one or few provided by R WORLD) then we do not have any option but to go for browsers or mail client not supported by R WORLD. Such clients are supported only in 6155, no other phone except kyo7135 (it has its own browser and mail client on R CONNECT) I will post details with photographs so that all members understands what are the benefits of WAP browser over RWORLD JAVA client. Please wait for day or two
-
You dont reuqire R SURF on 6155, as you can browse full fledged with OPERA MINI. One can visit even HTML content, only thing is lay out will be bad. I can use yahoo messanger from yahoo site directly, thereby bypassing R WORLD. There are email applications too available. It can access web directly. Without need of R WORLD. Not all R world applications are working, frankly I am least bothered as I have almost full fledged browser. I will try to post screen shots for those interested by today evening. (No promise)
-
Yes, you can connect using DKU-2 cable. Cables are available cheap for 200 bucks in market.

I meant that if phone is WAP enabled, currently only 6155 is. Then you can bypass expensive (I think) R WORLD as in RWORLD we pay per use or per day or per bla bla bla. Its is pretty expensive. Also requests passes through pathatic Reliance gateways or proxy (Half the time they are down). Where as in WAP enabled handset, I can use Flurrymail and Opera Mini directly. Tanveer, please dont try it on 6255, it will not work. R WORLD is java enabled client, but uses unknown authentication method. So infact PPP connection is not open for clients other than one provided by reliance. Well 6265 looks like it wud cost a bomb, my max budget would be arnd 12k's. Guess i have to go for 6155 no other options, huh ? Well kshah (or any other member) can you tell me 2 things about the Nokia 6155: 1. Will i be able to use R-Connect (internet on PC) service from this phone YES 2. Does it heat up on using long times.. YES, it has too but less than other phones Also please tell me how is your experiance with this phone, has it got any issues, how would you rate the phone on scale of 10. Thanks I state again, 6155 supports WAP browser, Install Opera Mini and see what type of freedom you get. Install Flurrymail and you have acess to all your POP mail. Or u can use yahoo mail to check your pop mails. I dont know how reliance charge, wether they charge for RWORLD OR R CONNECT. It has the best battery life I have seen. About 60-72 hours of total time with more than 150 minutes of talk time. And typical nokia advantage of good software, cheaper data cable and accessories and good quality batteries. I am not able to send MMS to any mobile subscribers, but can send MMS to E mail address. This is the only problem I have seen, since I never use MMS I am least bothered and never contacted reliance for the same. WHy this post is edited????

If it is ruim based, then I have a feeling that reliance will make this handset absolutely IMPOTENT. Unless they have given access to WAP browsing. THeir site has mentioned this handset as PLAIN VANILLA handset. It also appear that they are not very keen to promote this handset, the way they were not interested in 6225. Hope all members who has been waiting this handset are not disappointed.

I think 6255 is good handset but does not support WAP browsing.
-
I bought 6155 for 10K before about a month. From Nokia dealer. If one wants to upload ringtnes and wall papers using BITPIM go for LG. As Nokia uses its own softwares to do so.
-
I recently bought 6155, 160 char SMS, WAP browsing and also can install Mini Opera. Mini Opera is the excellent mobile browser. I can also install FLURRYMAIL which allows me to send and recieve POP / SMTP mail from 6155. I will suggest 6155. or any Nokia handset which has WAP browsing over RWORLD

These search terms have been highlighted: ruim cdma handset Page 1 CDMA R-UIM Frequently Asked Questions Version A Pura Font +1 972 930 6077 Page 2 CDMA Frequently Asked Questions 1) What R-UIM-specific data must I define to ensure connectivity to my CDMA network? At a minimum, the following items should be defined: IMSI_M (MIN) and/or IMSI_T (IMSI) CDMA Home SID/NID MDN PRL A-Key (if authentication is required) Note: The A-Key can be dynamically generated during R-UIM personalization. 2) What’s the difference between IMSI_M and IMSI_T? When do we use IMSI_M or IMSI_T? IMSI_M is a MIN-based IMSI that uses the lower 10-digits to store the MIN (Mobile Identification Number). IMSI-M is used in IS-95A systems. IMSI_T is a true IMSI, not associated with the MIN. It is similar to a GSM IMSI used in IS-95B systems. In the authentication process, if IMSI_M is programmed, the “MIN” portion of IMSI_M shall be used as an input parameter of the authentication calculation. If IMSI_T is programmed, a 32-bit subset of IMSI_T shall be used. The selection of IMSI_M or IMSI_T for use in the authentication process depends on which one is programmed on the R-UIM. 3) Since the majority of R-UIMs are 32KB/64KB in size, how is memory allocated in terms of CDMA related files/data? Many aspects of memory allocation are operator specific. However, the following conservative memory usage map may be used for reference: ADN File = 8KB SMS File = 4KB PRL File = 4KB EPRL File = 2KB General R-UIM Data = 3KB Additional Overhead = 2KB This memory map allows over 40K of free memory on a 64K card for installation of additional JavaCard-based applications. Page 3 CDMA Frequently Asked Questions TM 4) Once an RUIM is deployed, what can be done and how? New services can be downloaded to the R-UIM through installation and management of JavaCard-based applications. These applets can provide additional services such as banking, a handset-locking mechanism, enhanced customer service, and location-based services. It is possible to remotely manage the RUIM over the air by using an OTA platform. OTA functions may include the ability to remotely update R-UIM files and download applets to the card. This will allow introduction of new services (as defined above) during deployment/post-issuance. Users may then transfer their R-UIM from one device to another maintaining all personal data and applications. If a GSM subscription exists on the R-UIM, the user can move the R-UIM to a GSM (or Multi-Mode) phone to access GSM service. 5) How does the smart card address network security concerns? Subscription data is loaded on the R-UIM instead of on the handset. The R-UIM provides subscription portability and added security while removing key management functions from the handset. Some provision data (i.e., A-Key) is stored securely on the R-UIM and can never be read. The A-Key is the shared secret key value used during network authentication (CAVE computation). The A-Key value is stored securely on the R-UIM and HLR/AUC (Home Location Register/Authentication Center). The CDMA operator determines the version of CAVE used for authentication. The R-UIM performs all authentication calculations. Gemplus strongly encourages CDMA operators to activate authentication on their network. This increases network access security and reduces fraudulent mobile equipment use. A subsidy lock may also be added to the handset/R-UIM for additional access security. 6) How do I manage subsidized handsets with an R-UIM? An R-UIM lock application limits the use of the handset with an R-UIM containing a specific operator’s Mobile Network Code (MNC). In addition, a handset lock/tracking application may be loaded on the R-UIM that verifies the handset ESN/MEID upon every power-up. If a new handset is detected, the operator is notified via a message sent over the network to a handset management server. Page 4 CDMA Frequently Asked Questions TM 7) When do I have to buy new R-UIMs, and when can I upgrade the ones I have? A new R-UIM should only be necessary when the operator wants to introduce new applications/services not currently supported by existing R-UIMs deployed in the field due to functionality or memory constraints. For example, a new application or R-UIM data map may require more memory or enhanced cryptographic functions not available on current cards. Upcoming R-UIM operating systems will provide the ability to remotely update OS features, allowing the operator to add functionality and prolong the R-UIM’s deployment life. 8) Can I change the memory map on already-deployed R-UIMs? Yes. An OTA platform can update R-UIMs with new files or applications using available card memory. Furthermore, these files/applications can be extended, deleted, and re- allocated to optimize a card’s memory. Gemplus offers these services. 9) What modifications do I need in my network? None. You can use an R-UIM “out-of-the-box”. The R-UIM should be configured appropriately with the MIN, Home SID/NID, PRL, A-Key, and UIMID. The UIMID will serve as the equivalent of an ESN for subscription identification and authentication. Operators must load their HLR/AUC with corresponding UIMID values provided by Gemplus in the Output File. Input data from the operator is used to correctly provision the card during personalization. Additional services such as remote file/application management will require an OTA platform for the CDMA network. 10) How much of the memory map can I change? Most of the file structure and application data/code can be modified. Certain key data files may not be updated due to access condition restrictions defined during card personalization. An OTA platform is necessary to modify these files post-issuance. 11) If I had a 32KB RUIM with only 1KB allocated for the PRL, how can I modify deployed cards to extend this? Do I need to buy a new card with larger memory? If free memory is unavailable, outdated/unused files/applications can be deleted to free memory for a larger PRL file. If memory is available, the file may be extended to increase its size. On deployed R-UIMs, an OTA platform is required to perform these updates. Page 5 CDMA Frequently Asked Questions TM 12) Walk me through the previous process, step by step. If no free memory is available: Delete unused files/applications Extend the PRL file Update the PRL with new content If free memory is available: Extend the PRL file as needed Update the PRL with new content 13) For a large PRL file, what type of RUIM should I purchase? Gemplus recommends a higher memory 64KB or 128KB R-UIM. The GemXplore World Class family of CDMA R-UIMs offers a wide range of card memory sizes and features. Contact Pura Font at pura.font@gemplus.com (972-930-6077) for more information. 14) When I order handsets, the handset manufacturers ask me for PRI (Product Release Instruction) configuration. Is there an equivalent for R- UIM? Yes, an equivalent of the PRI resides on the R-UIM. The PRI contains the settings for the various configuration items on the handset that may be network specific but not necessarily subscription specific, such as standard CDMA channels, slot cycle index, default PRL, etc. 15) How are MCC and MNC values obtained by the network operator? The MCC value should be determined using the ITU-T RECOMMENDATION E.212 standard entitled "LIST OF MOBILE COUNTRY OR GEOGRAPHICAL AREA CODES". This document provides a master list of country codes used by the telecom industry. There is no global governing body that manages MNC values. Therefore, the MNC should be determined using a local regulatory body. 16) What’s the difference between CAVE and CAVE38? CAVE is used for CDMA authentication, and CAVE38 is used for iDEN authentication, which is compatible with GSM A3/A8 authentication.

Its not standardized because of few reason: 1. US standards for CDMA does not permit RUIM so easily. Each handset wether CDMA / GSM, it must be SIM or RUIM locked. 2. Qualcomm does not want it to happen. 3. Operators do not want to let go their profits from handset as in CDMA handset is commodity without much of resell value. Many of RIMWEB members must be having more numbers of CDMA handsets than GSM handsets. Because of few or no buyer as well as if buyer not interested to sell in few hundered bucks. Perhaps this is the reason in INDICOM no one will tell you that you can change handset by swapping RUIM. They wll say phone has to be TATA PROVISIONED. About implementation, China Unicom is 100% RUIM enabled handset service provider.

True, I was not aware about this. Samsung Ultra PC cost only $ 1000 (800 grams only). I think its worth having such PC with bluetooth basic phone and one is free to do what ever best mobile communication can rovide. 3 hours battery life of PC is good for most requirements.

I recently downloaded fluury mail for my nokia 6155, it creates direct PPP connection and send / receive mail. It can be installed on JAVA enabled handsets only like nokias.

I found only 6155, I bought for 10k, I chose because it had WAP browsing not R WORLD

I think one will not be able to confgure WAP browser till enabled at server end. OFF THE TOPIC I recently bought Nokia 6155 with WAP Browser enabled. Advantages: One can bypass pathatic R world and do lot more on wap browser. Using Opera Mini means full fledged browsing with script support. I can even log on to non WAP sites and pages. Can check, read, recieve and send e mails using Flurrymail. I recommend WAP enabled phones over R world enabled.
