its possible provided provider wants, SPC, MIN, certain part of software is possible with OTAP. Even registering ESN is possible but no service provider in world is allowing, in US you have to call their customer care to register ESN , then they give you instructions to change channels etc, and dial activation. It is only RIM where ESN is hidden, infact if they claim that they are following international rules and standards then ESN / MSN must be there on Mobile station.

Difficult, some 32 bit drivers can not be used with 64 bit. I tried using 64 bit OS on my Athlon lappy but driver support was very poor even HP laserjet 1005 is not supported on 64 bit. One can use generic driver but then there are limitations of functionalities.

I dont know about 6235 but nokia has typical problem with R connect (2280 and 6225) that connection becomes stale and then can not be reconnected. Means phone shows you connected, data transfer do not take place, disconnection too is not possible then rebooting phone and system is the only way to reconnect. It happens on my all systems, having different mother boards and CPU's. So its not system problem. Another problem I observed in 2280 was battery over charging when use R connect and connect charger at the same time. Ofcourse I used after market cable not original DKU 5 (cost 3500 bucks V/s 450 bucks prolific)

Not all Nokia has CMGS support. Infact hand one Nokia handset offered by tata was supporting sending SMS thru computer. It was color handset. I forgot the number. It was first color handset from tata. However it was not supporting RUIM. But if one get old handset then can try even on tata network. Unfortunately I did not bought old handset before 6 months. Else would have been helpful to some one.

CDMA implementation of SMS is mistery, many are trying to get on to it without success, basically, i believe, AT command / implemenation of SMS within handset is wrapped / purposefully hidden, else most modem / card supports SMS AT commands. Another way is to get hold of card / modem, easily tweakable, I cant explain further.

Else, YAGI is simple antena, you too can calculate and make. Calculations are simple mathematics.

This has been a old secret and many people have spent as well as wasted time on it. If one looks at the way commands are implemented, then it is evident that chipset is programmable for AT commands. WCDMA, EDGE implemented on GSM has one greatest dis advantage of cost per MB, GSM is atleast 2 to 6 times expensive due to inherent technological limitations. WCDMA implemented on GSM is comparable with CDMA 2000 however it is far expensive than CDMA EVDO. As far as data is concern CDMA is definately superior than GSM, which ever the technology is used. GSM being matured in voice and P2P applications as well as handset freedom, not considering another fact that US implemented Mobile communication wrongly in its early days - GSM is so widely used world wide.

Tell your frnd that never choose GSM if he is intend to use it for data purely. GSM data transfer rate s**ks. Even in EDGE

There is a setting called "better service scan", which is responsible for faster battery drain when there is no network. LG and samsung goes to sleep mode when there is no network for 15 minutes and then rescan every 30 minutes (I think) where as in Nokia this setting is tweakable using diego. Network bars I think are better in Nokia than LG, as stated by amit, there will be fever call drops in Nokia compare to LG.

hi all, I am from Ahmedabad, running my own business, www.giplindia.com, my interest to experiment with electronic gadgets bought me to RIMWEB. Ofcourse I do not take much part in general discussion but read technical discussion with interest but do not understand any thing as am mechanical guy. Now a days I see people with gr8 calibre keeps rimweb going at pace never before. Also admins and mods are taking great paid to keep rimweb good place. Guy, let rimweb be common platform rather than making small circles, physical location is good to disclose but not for ghettoism.

niit student do not give right connection speed estimates, I use BSNL 256 KBPS broadband and gives 25-35 KBPS DL speed donsistently, at times it is about 45-50 too. At NIIT it shows only 6027 bytes / 48 kbps. I still suggest all my rim web frnds to consider BSNL over any one else as they give better services. Why loose money?

hey, all seems to be too optimistic, dont you think so? Still GSM guys has not reached to EDGE fully, you think they will upgrade to W-CDMA in next 3 years? Why they will upgrade? I dont remember the price but it was astronomical price per MB in EDGE on I think Hutch Delhi ad. FYI, India has only 5.3 million internet connections so I dont see any techno commecial benefit to service providers. Just my thoughts, u may disagree.

What should be log in procedure i.e QNC / 3G with PPP and CHAP authentication or some thing else? 3. What is home agent address?
