Though I am not nokia fan, they are ages ahead of LG and far ahead of Samsung. Stripped down versions of nokia is not understandable. What customization they have to do? Infact nothing, as being JAVA, BREW enabled pphone, they just have to program log in information and necessary URL's. If reliance is using non standard java implementation, than case may be different. It seems reliance is not interested that customer uses handset, with which he is satisfied, then only he will kepp on changing it. There by giving more money to RIM than he saved on Air Time. message size is limi to 160 in CDMA but it becomes 140 as 20 chars are reserved for priority headers and other nonsense stuff. Nokias has best OS. If you are not keen for cam or R world choose appropriate nokia than LG or SAM. Nokia supports 160 chars and I could make it upto 172, as received on other LG / SAM handset. It became 172 chars though I sent 180 chars. Receipts in nokias are not stored in Inbox so save you from deleting receipts thereby saving memory

prices are 35K, its not worth, in GSM you get much better phone for this price. I think CDMA guys are digging their own grave by not providing R-UIM support and exhorbitant handset prices. I believe unless they do away with handset monopoly they will start loosing high value customers in near future. As I am aslo thinking to switch over to GSM after 2.5 years due to same reason. I tried to activate handset my sis sent me from US. I programmed it for RIM, I can log on to rim network for programming but its rejected.

yes 6225 is made plain vanilla phone by reliance, else it has almost all features of most LG / Samsung phones, infact reliance has made it impotent phone. I feel sorry for nokia too who agreed to sell such stripped down phone, which is capable of handling SMS / MMS / LMS/ JAVA / BREW / WAP.

it is definately PCB / MB problem, chirag I differ from your opinion about insurance claim, till now I have claimed 2 PCB ()nce i dropped in water and once same problem like vanitanigoo) and 1 LCD display, totaling about 12k in my 3 connections. Every time I got my money within 3-4 months. Ofcourse i Had to send them reminder and couple of phone calls, I am in Ahmedabad so its not possible for me to go to them personally. There may be cases but I have had good experience.

Good work, I do not understand much of what you said. I tried to increase no of charecters in my nokia using diego, hand set accept message and send too but when delivered its traunced by system and 160 chars are delivered.

static, SMS handled in CDMA is different than GSM. I dont know much about technicality yet. Brew is just one protocol, like j2me etc. If brew can do j2me too can do or for that matter java. CDMA use trafic channel to send SMS. Its transport is different. Message centrre concept like GSM is not there, IT SEEMS. Though I am not techie like others on this board but I studied a lot before abt 2 yrs. I paid subscription to some site amt to abt $100 to know more but of no use. I was not aware that biz card is nokia exclusive format and not supported by others. So when I sent it to MOTO GSM it received junk characters and also messagecenter (above number) I noted that number, I dont know if this number is corect but techeis can try.

puneet, documentation of all CDMA / GSM cards says that it supports SMS AT COMMANDS. Where as documentation of handsets does nothave any such reference. Also AT command supported by cards are seldom supported by handsets. So I think reverse engineering may not help However your idea of HCC is good to try.

I am been told that if you can write hex commands to hand set, you can send SMS. I dont know what it is. If you have access to TATA nokia colr handset, I forgot the number but it was the first color handset introduced by them. In which one can send SMS using computer. If you study that particular handset commands using suitable comport mnitors, I think you will come to know a lot ashok. SMS in CDMA is sent over trafic channel. Also I had come across message centre number or RIM once. I wrote it down but lost that chit.

admins are really scared of reliance, they may be right as they do not do this for money. They might be able to generate revenues just enouhgh for maintaining site. But discusiing issues may not be illegal. Puting it in action is. All CDMA phones has OTAP so it can be activated on any network if they register ESN of your hand set to their network. Once it is done it can log on to said network and be reprogrammed. There are other methods which are illegal all over and also expensive. Firmware upgrade is required only if you want to use operator specific services like R world in case of RIM
