PPC has very little chances of virus infections if you download only headers in e mail. Also it slows down PPC a lot. BEst way is to scan your system every time after to browse (if you are too scared) else once fortnight may be sufficient. I used PPCs for 3 years but never had any virus problem.

Get it flashed for RUIM and you can use any RUIM. I dont know who might be doing it in mumbai.

Indeed, thanks lot.

means samsung has programmed necessary WAP settings for both. Thats great news for many who uses RWORLD. I just wonder how long 1200 mAH battery will last on CDMA + GSM mode.

Mobile Internet, Edge+gprs Is Much More Faster Than Cdma
kshah replied to cmahendra's topic in Data services
People do talk big but when it comes to disclose what they did, they seldom. I have doubts if handsets standards can be upgraded by tweaking as it may require upto hardware level changes. There are very few people who will say that in GSM you get good data speed. 40kbps you should be happy with. BTW 247 kbps or 156 kbps in CDMA is BURST speed in ideal condition. -
Interesting, till now I have read that CDMA has more radiation than that of GSM.

Will Reliance Shift From Cdma To Gsm?
kshah replied to suvirajshetty's topic in Reliance Communications
customer service of reliance is poor but not poorer than any other GSM guys. my wife has worked with idea and I have used hutch, idea , bsnk and airtel too. For me reliance has always responded my complaints better than GSM guys. CDMA is far better in voice. Reliance has excellent coverage despite being youngest TELCO. Reliance is still atleast 25-40% cheaper than best GSM offers I had and have. Only issue is handset. Ofcourse, because of locked handsets and non flexibility, I too am waiting for reliances GSM services to be deployed to switch over to GSM. But if CDMA is even 75% as flexible as GSM, I will prefer CDMA. -
http://www.webserve.ca/webhosting/enterprise/blackberry/ http://www.exchangemymail.com/ but all paid services, just little cheaper than reliance

To reduce battery consumption, one can try tweaking QPST settings and increase dormant time. But it should not then conflicts with system settings. @DKALI How important it is for you to get mail in seconds? is it fine if you check mails every one hour or so? then just configure appropriate mail client to connect every one hour, donwload mails and disconnect. that way you save battery. In 1X data call will block voice and vice versa. Even in EDGE. Simultanous is possible in EVDO / WCDMA (3G) only.

in BB protocol, SMS triggers QNC and mail is downloaded. User get to see only downloaded message not BB SMS. As I understand BB.

Htc And Reliance Communications Join To Promote Windows Mobile In India

but whats the use of EVDO rev 0 or rev 1 till we do not have EVDO? Isnt it just hypothetical value? -
If mobile internet is your lookout then PocketPC is a good choice. I have used EDGE enabled PocketPC for internet, but didn't experience frequent hanging. Accessing e-mail is quite easy. But internet explorer on a PPC doesn't allow applets to open. So, mobile banking is a problem. I don't have any idea on Blackberry service, anyway. Mobile banking without fullfledged java aplet supoport and without proper browser ID, it is not possible. I tried a lot wth IE on PPC 6700, Opera Mini and also on my palm. Most banking sites requires IE6 and aboe or netscape 5 and above. In PPC if you change your browser ID then I could go upto log on screen.

still not lauched in Ahmedabad

if taata is using QNC than may be difficult. I do not think its impossible but may be it will be difficult. If you have patience and attitude to do tweaking, then certainly its possible.

Any one who sells device do not assume any responsibility for device they sold. GTRAN in reliance is brilliant example. One of my frnd had bad experience for wifi modem from airtel too. GSM PCO owners also has faced similar problems at times. Ofcourse faulty devices are very few these days.

Not only Indian CDMA, all CDMA users except china (Where phones are easily configurable) are exploited to their limits. If I have to sat about me, I am stuck to CDMA because reliance is still cheaper for CUG and voice quality is superb. Network coverage wise Airtel and BSNL are as good. I am waiting for MNP and I will be first person to switch from CDMA. BTW, dual phone for 15.5K is too expensive, isnt it? for Just a basic phone.

There are lots of other handsets too, but none of them will work for on set data services. Because CDMA is such a stupid srndaed where data related settings are stored on handset not RUIM. Only china unicom is storing it on RUIM and its their patent. China unicom handsets are most probably not locked. They can update PRL on RUIM by SMS (again patented). If you read authentication procedures for CDMA its very different than that of GSM. -

Some onefrom reliance told me that CDMA operators are trapped they have to obey orders of qualcomm and qualcomm do not want handsets to be open, hence it is not implementing open standards like GSM. Hence half of programming is done on ruim and half on handset.
