BSNL is focusing on CDMA for regional services only. THey are not interested in providing cellular services. But they have been torch bearer for technology break thru atleast in affordable wireless 3G and wired high speed data.

Probably with too many players, cellular market will be regionalized. Perhaps there will be two catagories of opertors, National, regional. National operators may survive on VAS and Roaming. Regional purely on voice and local data. Airtel and most GSM players are afraid of reliance and tata because of their might and knowledge of Indian psychology. Reliance and tata could be leading player even with non friendly technology like CDMA. Reliance and tata GSM network will be homogenous in technology, hence more efficient, will be able to offer data service uniformly so others are affraid and trying to prove that they only will survive. Business now a days is not like old days where establish people can wipe off new comers. Technology now a days plays a vital role. Unlike past your contacts with politicians were enough to survive. Birlas, Godrej and Kirloskars are example of new era failures.

yes, EVDO works on 800 mHz only (As name says EvDO= Evolution Data only). Means no additional major hardware. Just software upgradation and some hardware changes. I dont think government comes in picture here. GOvernment can take objection only if they want to use spectrum other than 800 mHz. Data on mobile is not in government control, as far as I know from TRAI documents. That is the reason why GSM guys could upgrade from NO DATA to EDGE without any problem. Have you ever heard of any permission issues for EDGE from GPRS? These guys just want to fool all users in name of government.

opera mini connects through opera's own proxies. hence I doubt if secured sites will allow proxy servers. Also opera proxy is too slow and at times it is down. so do not rely on opera for serious work. Thats piece of uncalled advise. Also most secured sites use java extensively and it asks for OE / mozilla as browser identifiers.

He he, they are not even keen to provide EVDO, though same can be provided on existing network by investing fraction on software and little bit of hardware.

This also mean that private CDMA operators are fooling all users in name of 3G and spectrum. Had they been serious competing GSM guys, they would have intoduced EVDO on 800 mHz spectrum. Now that GSM and CDMA guys will entagle issue so much that they will not launch services for another year or more. For 3G CDMA is the best. But again handset is issue.

I am using POP mail on my outlook. Now that I want to switch over to IMAP server. What happen is when I configure IMAP server, it creates new data file at default location. Which I can not move or change in any ways. I want to know ways to change location of data file.

For them I am corporate customer as I have about 20 connections taken under corporate plan and all are under CUG. Billing is all individual as per available option. My company has given consent to have billing address as my office address.

They take time to realize potential because there is no volume for high end business phones. People buy business phones for style.

It is possible, But no one is willing to disclose complete process like kshah and few others did. 6800 is not yet done by any one in my knowledge. Rest assured, If I will do it ever, , I will share it with you all as its not my business.

It may available for 10k for used and may be reliance is offering for less than 18K (I am not sure) You can browse almost all sites and also can use it as laptop for mailing and browsing. Supports wide variety of audio and video files. Only drawback is lesser battery life than phones and bulkier than phone. I am been using smart phones since last 3 years and frankly I can not live without smart phones, its addiction.

I saw HCL computers, 15999 for celron, 2 GB memory, 512 MB RAM, wifi, 7" screen, linux. I have been reading this topic but could not comment as I was not aware. Good for e mail, chatting, limited browsing and some amount of office work. May cause fatigue and could be second device to substitute laptops. It is definately a very good low cost, very light weight device which can be used rough. With IMAP mail configurations and removable 8-16 GB flash drive, one can safeguard valuable data while on move. Also with increasing storage on mail servers and web, such devices can be a good choice for people who do not like to carry bulky, expensive laptops while traveling. Because these devices can run standard OS, it can be used practically for every thing, especially in coming days when Wi-fi / Wimax will be deployed. THere was another same size device with Pentium processor, 1 GB ram, 80 GB HDD, built in web cam and all other high end features except optical drive. Costing 36000. This device, with all features- its seems to be a fancy device and con not be used for very long duration. I am still thinking where such devices can be used. There seems to be possibility but yet to discover where to apply. HCL is using Intel processors hence people may prefer. But VIA procesors too are good. I think ACI is offering better specs than HCL

if you like good quality sound, wide netowrk, superior data speed and economical charges and also if you can live with limited range of handsets with very limited usable features then choose reliance or tata. If you want to satisfy your fancy of handsets and ready to sacrifice voice quality, pathatic data speeds and read to pay about 15-20% more for voice then go for GSM. In GSM BSNL is best coverage wise, then comes airtel.

I dont understand what reliance and infact all CDMA operators are upto? Why they just keep on changing skins of phone and say new phone is introduced?

cost may ne 250 bucks. Can be done with special hardw. So better to go to people who can do it.

Motorola L7 is really good phone than LG (Stupid PC sync and software) and Nokia (Pathatic customer service) I have seen K3 and L7 both are excellent, very sturdy metal handset with better battery life than LG and nokias. LG are loaded phones as compared to others for same price range. LG has said to have good customer care. Nokia for CDMA is pathatic. If CC is one of the criteria, dont even consider Nokia. But if problem arises then unless you know ADA, your phone will not be repaired before 3 weeks. Another option is to buy 3 classics and use them one by one so you can use phone for whole day.

Diego can not flash phone. Flashing is possible only with special hardwares. You can go to mobile repairer who flashes nokia. They can do it for u. If they refuses to do, you can ask them if they will do it if you take flash files along.

Till you dont reflash your phone with RUIM firmware your phone can never support RUIM.
