CDMA is cheaper because its efficient technology. GSM is expensive in India because they employed highly inefficient technologies and perhaps they never paid attention to improving efficiencis. That is the reason why entire GSM network of all the operator do not support EDGE. GSM has been winning because of its open standard and that is the reason why they have more varietirs of handsets. CDMA technology is closely guarded technology, hence there is no open ended settings like GSM that handset can be used across operators with all features. Even RUIM card can not transfer all features of network to another handset. CDMA has lost its charm due to stupid policies of qualcomm.

TD-SCDMA is superior, efficient tehnology and there are possibilities of it becoming leading technology because china has big stake in R&D and chinese government want it to be popular. I hope NP come in force soon. for 3G yet long way to go. Even technology is not as efficient as it is marketed

I have used PPC right from WM2003 (XV6600) and PPC 6700. Also in Palm OS Kyo 7135 and Treo 700p. WM has its own advantages, when it comes to add on softwares and compatibilities with other systems. Palm too is very powerful OS with limitations like no real multitasking. No real file system as we have seen in windows etc. But Treo 700p has superb battery life, quite stable than WM5. If we talk about Sycronization with PC than I must say that Palm is far far ahead of WM5. It practically syncs every thing except your software registration info. That too can be saved with resco backup. E mail client I use on 700p (Snapper) is better than "POCKET OUTLOOK". Browser on 700P S**KS. Its primitive sort of browser you can compare with IE4 not IE6. Opera Mini does not work properly on Palm OS 5. It crashes very often. To me it seems to be Opera proxy server problem than PALM OS problem but hte fact is it does not work. Its 1800 mAH Battery life is really amazing. It last more than Nokia 6155 in same given conditions. Screen is way better than 6700. So choose as per your need. Treo need some tweaking knowledge. There are other members too who has used WM and PALM as well as MAC OS PDA better ask them too.

Can be done but it may turn out to be more expensive than phone itself. Because serial cable will cost you Rs. 1200

probably yes because it has same hardware and software as 700 / 755P. But centro has very small battery (I think 1100 mAH) so I doubt its talk time / stand by time. 700P has 1800 mAH and belive me it works better than simple phone with 1000 mAH battery.

Voice recording of both the patrties depends on hardware and implementation of voice codec. In WM5 phones no one has been able to record both the parties conversation with native hardware and native softwares. Same applies to phones. Nokia disabled it in its java phones due to legal constrains. Symbian its possible. Palm OS its possible so far but it records only in wav format.

If this is the case why you want to carry such big handsets? Any handset will do for you.

This phone except EVDO and display resolutions does not seems to be better than k1M.

Frankly for wired line I have no respect for Tata, Airtel and reliance either. They all are pathatic. Chosing tata is because 1 . They responded to my querry in 24 hours. 2. They only can provide connection at my residence in next 5 days. 3. Airtel never responded to my querries to call center and web. 4. Reliance said technically not feasible. 5. BSNL says wait for 2-4 months. As they do not have capacity. Even if I buy modem from market. Tata is using Cat-5 cbles hanging over head. Reliance has DUBBA in my flat building but has not got permission to put some broadband DUBBA. I forgot to mention that now speed is UPTO 2 mbps. Still prices are from heaven.

This happens in all operators. Belive me. My wife has worked with AT&T CC. But in MTNL I think it must be reverted without any hessles, think of same in provate operator? You think same will be done so fast? Appearance of MTNL and BSNL is pathatic but efficincy is far more than any private operators.

In ahmedabd it is available in mobile market. Must be available in bangalore. Its better to pay little more to local guy than inporting.

If it is by USPS then no one can say about custom duties because postal custom guys are very unpredictable. If it is by courier then it enters India thru different route so usually duty charged is reasonable. You can visit site of customs if you are interested in knowing laws only, which may not be followed by officials.

It is not possible that diego delete contacts by itself. I have connected my mobiles 100s of time (i mean it). With diego, rewritten PRL, backed up and resotred, evenphone book back up and resotre etc. See if your diego has taken back up of your user data. If you have tried to upgrade software or disconnected phone while some writting in progress than it is possible and if so there is no waay you can recover your phone book. Unless you can find out back up file taken automatically by diego. Search your temp folders and diego folders. If you have synced your phone with outlook / other PIM, then try restoring it from there. While feedling with phone always take precaution to take uptodate backup before connecting it to software like diego / phoenix or PSTs.

You cant get every thing. Warranty cost company, so prices are so high. These phones (Chinese) cost almost 1/2 or 1/3 the branded one. You pay 3-4 time in branded yet you do not get 2 batteris, 2 chargers etc. So its better to throw away phone than having warranty.

Reliance is best, tariff wise, network quality wise and even customer service wise.

In ahmedabad airtel is available in very limited area. Also airtel split ratio is 1:2. So speed will be half if all connections log on at same time from same hub.

Not every where as per law, there is some cutoff date after which one requires birth certificate as a proof. Ofcourse no one asks and school leaving is accepted by all. But I will suggest to have birth certificate.

All major GSM operators seems to be shivering due to reliance's entry in GSM. If they are really offering great services what they are afraid of? I know they offer poorer services than reliance and even TATA. But they have been able to market themselves as consumer friendly service providers.
