The World's Number ONE phone?

v0ov.jpg

baio.jpg

Initial Observations :

1. Very convenient size to handle.
2. Absolutely brilliant build quality. The HTC's Aluminum Unibody is a class apart from Samsung. Feels very solid in hand.
3. 4.7" Super LCD 3 screen is brilliant and brightness is better than Note 2. Though overall the Super AMOLED of Note 2 can be called slightly better.
4. The Beats Audio sound quality is just brilliant, the best I have seen yet on any phone.
5. The 4MP camera is again brilliant. Don't go by mega pixels, the sensor quality is far superior to anything seen on many phones. Front Camera is 2 MP.
6. It is on stock 4.3 and as a existing Note2 owner, I had no issues transitioning to this device. If anything the level of customisations is now miles ahead.
7. Easily handled with One hand.
8. GPS locking is without any error and very very fast, even better than Note2.
9. 32GB in built memory but NO option to add micro sd card. Though I feel that amount of memory is sufficient. Also the micro usb/mhl port supports usb chips upto 64MB by special cable.
10. NO dedicated camera button.
11. Notification light is present.
12. Sufficient 2300mah battery lasts a day but Note 2's battery is still the benchmark which lasts even upto 2 days for normal usage.
13. The back is all aluminum with sandwitched poly carbonate and is NOT openable. Micro SIM slot is on the side which supports GSM sims with full 3G. So this in effect is the First World Phone (CDMA+GSM) that I have owned. Though only one netwrok works at a time. Also there needs to be some GSM sim installed (working or non working) otherwise the phone gives 4G error.
14. Awesome 3G speeds.

What I don't like:
1. I am told that some people are facing "Purple Photos" problem in low light shooting. No such issues faced by me.

2. Some people are also getting 3G speeds problem, not faced by me.

3. No flip case in box (cost cutting nowadays?).

4. No kickstand.

Even with these, it is now the arguably one the BEST DESIGNED phones in the world at the moment.

HTC crafted the One out of a single block of anodized aluminum, sprinkled with polycarbonate accents throughout. It's incredibly intricate: each unit goes through at least 200 minutes of CNC machine cuts, and the aluminum is etched into channels filled with polycarbonate -- a technique called zero-gap injection molding. Add chamfered, polished edges that connect the sides of the phone to the glass (Gorilla Glass 2, to be specific), and you have a handset with one of the best industrial designs we've ever seen. The amount of detail here is staggering, and it reflects just how crucial this device is to HTC's future.

Now for some PHOTOS:

Welcome to HTC one. How does it feel after note 2?

Feels easily handle-able in hand. Battery life is lower. Camera seems slightly better. Hope I don't face any issues as said by some other members of purple photos and 3G speeds. Aluminum Unibody is the highlight of this phone. Both are very good phones in their own right.

If you like the One, you would have loved the One Max

Surprised you went for the one-gen old One with the One Max and Z Ultra already out, and the S5 due in less than a week

Nope, wouldn't have. I did not want a 6" phone in my hand that is why shifted to something more manageable like HTC ONE. It may be a year old but it is still revolutionary cutting edge in design and feel in hand.

Yes, it has a 3300mah battery on the max. But then the screen size is bigger too. May last similar which is say a day.

@dhirajji Can work CDMA with omh card?

Havn't tried but have heard someone who has tried something similar.

Low Light Photo Comparison between HTC ONE and Verizon Note 2 -

HTC ONE

5gom.jpg

Verizon NOTE 2

96l7.jpg

As you can clearly make out HTC ONE wins hands down on clarity and detail. No post processing has been done except reduce the size to a 600 pixel width.

As you can also see there is a slight Purple Tint in the HTC photo as HTC adds more Gamma to low light photos so the clarityy increases but dark regions gets a slight purple tint.Purple is the colour which is last in rainbow spectrum. It is the colour which has the highest angle. So basically it's a trade off between a slight tint vs low light image quality. But the results are testimony that still HTC wins hands down. No such tint issues in full light.

Hope that clears.

PS - Yes the above full light photo was of a custom Harley Davidson Superlow at IBW 2014 which I attended recently in Goa on my Harley!! (Lolz... No, I went by air and we hired Bullets there as 2000km was quite a distance for me to drive my Harley)

Though the EVDO speeds on HTC ONE are quite good (upto 2.51 Mbps),

post-18748-0-08672600-1390623201_thumb.p

they are still beaten by the speeds of my wife's new Verizon Note 2 (2.74 Mbps). Speed tested in exact same conditions and time.

post-18748-0-35596900-1390623249_thumb.p

Earlier it used to be opposite and HTC always used to triumph over Samsung phones...

Food for thought.

Wifi Hotspot works perfectly. Had to try it today as someone cut the Airtel landline broadband cable in my lane and my internet was down.

Got the 4.4.2 KitKat Update today. But ran into major trouble after install. Most probably due to new radio being flashed the phone went into activation mode after a restart and downloaded back all sprint settings and prl. The cdma mode was showing no network and only gsm mode was working. Had to reflash my phone (thanks to Hetal's program FlashPhone) and got back all my Reliance settings and everything is back to normal including evdo. And no more going into activation mode even after restarts. I see no major changes in Kitkat till now, though Sense has also been upgraded to 5.5 and now some apps have been added like 'Do Not Disturb' which is similar to Samsung's Blocking Mode.

Few screenshots of upgrade messages-

Is this issue on 4.4.2 Kitkat or previous rom?

Hmmm. Even I felt that today. Meaning it stops charging on reaching 100% and starts discharging till charger is disconnected and reconnected.

Suggestion by HTC for battery problem.

"Sorry to hear that, Vishal! Your best bet is to calibrate your battery. To do so, shut the phone off then hold Volume Up Volume down and Power for two full minutes. The device will power cycle a couple times. Once done, ensure it is charged and let us know if that has helped"
