Reliance launches India's first 1-day recharge under its 1 Nation - 1 Rupee plan

Monthly,Weekly and Daily recharge options to benefit all customer segments

DAKC (Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City), Navi Mumbai, January 27, 2006

Making long distance calls convenient and easier on the pocket, Reliance Infocomm today launched new recharge options with daily and weekly validity under its pioneering `One Nation - One Rupee' plan.

These recharge options have been designed specifically keeping in mind subscribers who have low outgoing calling needs, but may need to make occasional long distance calls.

These one day and one week validity options are the first-of-its-kind mini recharge options in India offering Re 1 per minute rate for calls to any phone in the country. While the daily validity recharge is priced at Rs 75, the weekly option costs Rs 275. These recharges carry talk time value of Rs 40 and Rs 185 respectively.

Reliance Infocomm had on January 1 this year launched the country's first One Nation - One Rupee plan offering a rate of Re 1 per minute for calls to any phone within India. The Rs 1,100, thirty-day recharge option comes with a talk time of Rs 750. What's more, as an introductory offer, this option comes endowed with 1,100 free SMSs to any phone, anywhere in the State.

"Our One Nation - One Rupee initiative announced on the New Year Day has been a runaway success. Our study of calling patterns has thrown up a number of subscribers with a high propensity to make a large number of long distance calls in a short interval. These innovative recharge options will prove extremely useful for them in particular," said S P Shukla, President - Wireless, Reliance Infocomm.

"Other categories of users are those who have to be in touch with their business partners at different places on an adhoc basis, or those who make a lot of long distance calls during social events or festivals. Now, such subscribers can make their calls without worrying about high tariffs or waiting in queues at PCO booths," he said.

For instance, the one-day and one-week recharges will be very useful to those subscribers who normally recharge their prepaid accounts with Rs 149, Rs 200 or Rs 330 vouchers to stay connected and have an occasional need to make long distance calls.
