As previously mentioned, I reached Patna today. I had forwarded calls to my alternate Idea number at airport only. On reaching Patna, I saw 1x at airport, so disabled forward made a few calls. But as soon as I moved to other parts of city, network was non-existent. I forwarded all my calls again to idea as soon as I got one or two bars. I visited Reliance Mobile Store, near Saguna More, they had put up a board "No Query regarding Reliance network", that was funny! I entered the shop and told him that despite his board I would like to know the status as there is no network in my phone. He replied that he left franchise of RIM 2 months back. Then I went to Raza Bazar store. They have absolutely no clue, no idea about any tentative date, any SIM, any plan, anything at all. I was told they have no official communication except for the fact that no more CDMA to be sold. This is a classic example and case study of "How to ruin your business". Reliance RTL was the first to launch mobile telephony in the name of SMART in Bihar way back in 1990's. They had an excellent customer base of GSM and when they launched CDMA they almost gave every Bihari a mobile. Even today most of the people, businessman, contractor, student, labour etc everyone has the CDMA one and then SMART as another alternate number. They messed it by choice! People who give anything for such a loyal and vast customer base. Anil Ambani I guess cannot manage it well. There were so many customers at store asking about CDMA and no one knew a word about it! When their 2G network had gone, they had no proper communication to give except for the part that they asked everyone to port out!

I would like to confess, my ex gf had RGSM number. I had to dump her coz she refused to change her operator. Nah, just kidding. But it was extremely frustrating not be able to call her, or frequent call drops or delayed sms delivery.

Received a call today on my Delhi postpaid number from someone claiming to be calling from "Reliance" The lady started with saying that CDMA service is going to be closed down so Reliance is offering GSM service. The "field officer" would come to my address and collect address proof, ID proof and 2 photograph. Then I can choose from one of the "great" plans. When I started countering that the 4G SIM is supposed to be given directly and there is no requirement for providing any papers, the girl seemed surprised that I am aware of the actual details. Still she tried to persist saying that later you have to go to the webworld and pay more etc etc. I told her to go fool someone else. But it shows that some franchise are trying to fool people into porting to R-GSM (the requirement for fresh KYC was what alerted me).

everyone is so eager for 4g, its like the moment these sims get activated and the ultra high speed bandwidth starts working..........something is going to explode and give way to new means instantly. it is going to be exciting but doesnt matter if these connections start working in a week or few weeks from now. its not going to be a life altering experience straight away, yes in longer run it will lead & pave way for great possibilities. till then hold your horses all the enthusiastic people. being prepared for the new tech is great, the anticipation is fascinating but there isnt gonna be much change once the top of your smartphone screen shows LTE instead of EV, 3G or H+ i know this is not going to stop any of our forum members craze but i just had to vent out here.
