  1. Nokia 3105

Third party Java applications that connect to an external server doesn't always work, maybe the settings in that browser is incorrect.
  2. Effective R-Connect Speeds

ofcourse, it should get slower when you are sharing the same connection in another computer. Already, R-Connect speed is just fine for 1 computer, so sharing it in 2 computers will be slow. Also, pinging will reduce some speed too.
  3. If your town/city has access to Broadband connection, then it is always better to get them than R-Connect as your primary connection. R-Connect is best suited for users with laptops or where only dial up connections are only available. The Freedom plan comes with 1 GB bandwidth limit, but I havent heard anything like "credit limit of Rs.1000/-" as you have said in your post. Can you throw more light on that issue, inluding from where you have heard it ? It entirely depends upon what you surf. Some people may end up 1 GB in just a couple of days, itself while 1 GB could be more than enough for 1 month for some. It depends on your usage.
  4. Nokia 6225 Review!

satyamsharma, can you write to the Chariman's Office email regarding this and when they expect to enable the features that are deactivated now ? Most of the functions that you mentioned could start to work once they develop the required stuff. Anyway, its a bad practise by Reliance to launch handsets without full functionality and users the consumers to test the new handsets !

Can you post a screenshot of the error message that you are getting ?

  8. Software Upgrades For LG 6000 / 6130

Thanks for informing it to us... lets hope many problems in 6130/6000 will get resolved by this upgrade.
  9. All about LG 6130 - Camera Phone

Are you sure that the sender's number is in the right format ? Most GSM numbers add 0091 to the number when received. I don't think such a problem exists in the handset.
  10. I don't have a Nokia 2280 to check it out. Please do post more information regarding this !
  11. Get an @ Ricmail.com Account

If you have subscribed for the data plans of R-Connect, you can activate your account by entering the MDN number. But www.ricmail.com service is not officially launched, so everyone may not be able to register up. You cannot send ringtones/wallpapers via SMS, but you can send via MMS only. Check out: http://www.rimweb.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2030 Please read through all forum posts as possible before posting a new topic like this, as you will notice that both your queries were already answered in the forums.
  12. Codes For Lg Rd2030

You mean you lost your lock code ? Well, you'll have to spend Rs.160 bucks at the nearest LG ASC for resetting it, if you do not have a data cable to check it out. Anyway, if you have warranty, they will do it for FREE.
  13. Another Bug In Reliance Prepaid

  14. CDMA group pushes for 1900 Mhz frequency allocation The Hindu Business Line New Delhi , Feb. 23 THE Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA)-based mobile phone service providers and equipment suppliers on Wednesday came together to push for allocation of additional frequency in 1900 Mhz. At a joint press conference, attended by representatives from Reliance Infocomm, Tata Teleservices, Ericsson, Nortel, Lucent, Qualcomm and LG, the CDMA Development Group urged the Government to follow global standards while allocating radio frequency. "We want 1900 Mhz frequency, which is a world standard. Any other frequency will be unique to India which will not be growth of CDMA in India," said Mr B.B. Anand, President, Regulatory Affairs, Reliance Infocomm. These companies form part of the CDMA Development Group. The debate revolves around the allocation of the 1900-Mhz radio frequency band for both CDMA operators and Global System for Mobile (GSM) based operators. While CDMA operators say that offering services in any other band would make the business unviable, GSM operators have expressed concerns of interference if the band was shared. Mr Eshwar Pittampalli from Lucent said that world over, CDMA mobile service providers operate in 800 Mhz and 1900 Mhz frequency and if some other frequency is provided to Indian operators it would push up the cost of equipment and handsets. "Spectrum should be allocated fairly in line with the global standards so that consumers will benefit," said Mr Greg Young, Chief of Network and Value Added Services, Tata Teleservices. However, manufacturers of both GSM and CDMA technology equipment were non-committal in their stance. Mr Rajan Mehta from Nortel said that both GSM and CDMA mobile service providers need additional spectrum and it should be provided to them. Ericsson also said that it would not take sides in the ongoing debate and would go with the decision taken by the Government.
  15. Reliance Info to cover 100 towns in UP Thursday, 17 February , 2005, 14:55 Lucknow: Reliance Infocomm targets to cover over 100 towns in Uttar Pradesh by month-end as part of its ambitious phase II network expansion, under which the company plans to reach 546 towns in UP and Uttaranchal. Reliance Infocomm, Circle CEO, V V Singh said here today the CDMA based mobile provider had already connected 64 new towns in Phase II in addition to 41 towns where it was already operating. The company plans to network 36 more towns in February to complete 100 by month end. The towns being targetted this month include 20 in UP (West) Circle and 16 in UP (East) Circle. This would also provide Reliance coverage in about 200 villages falling under the periphery of these 36 towns. Singh said the company would cover about 60 towns every month to achieve the target of taking Reliance network to 546 towns in both the state to reach 4 lakh villages, 5,700 towns and 65 crore people. Prominent towns where Reliance intends to complete its network expansion in February include Varanasi, Allahabad, Sitapur, Saharanpur, Mathura, Ghaziabad, Hathras, Pratapgarh, Aligarh, Azamgarh, Unnao, BaraBanki, Kanpur, Moradabad and Basti. Others town which would be covered this month include Pratapgarh, Mubarakpur (Azamgarh), Mahmudabad (Sitapur), Nawabganj, Bagarmau and Safipur (Unnao), Nandgaon (Mathura), Purquazi (Muzaffarnagar), Ghosi, Khalilabad, Amla, Chandausi, Khurja, Shamli and Lakshar. Importantly, the company would provide Internet access in all towns and villages that are being connected under Phase II.
  16. February 18, 2005 mid-day.com Reliance may not want to go to town with it but after the l’affaire Dhariwal of Manikchand fame, Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance industries seems to be going slow on using his flashy style statement — the Rs 5.6 crore Maybach. According to sources close to Mukesh, they have not seen the Maybach at Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City at Vashi, Navi Mumbai. “It’s his Mercedes that we see here normally. But I don’t know whether Mukesh Ambani’s family is using the Maybach or not,” said a senior official of Reliance Infocomm. Though in terms of asset size the Ambani empire would dwarf the Manikchand group, Rasiklal Manikchand Dhariwal, an accused in the Interpol’s wanted list, is the only other owner in India of the super luxury car Maybach manufactured by Daimler Chrysler. Mukesh Ambani’s secretary, on being contacted, said, “How can you compare Mukesh with Dhariwal? Why are you interested in knowing if Mukesh would retain the car or sell it off? It’s his personal matter.” Dhariwal, it may be recalled, has been charged with having links with Dawood Ibrahim by the Indian police authorities and is absconding. Mukesh has been painted out by his younger brother Anil Ambani as trying to cheat him out of his rightful share of the family’s wealth. When contacted, a Reliance spokesperson said, “This is a private matter of Shri Mukesh Ambani” Interestingly, Daimler Chrysler sees no reason to change its attitude to Dhariwal. “We do not comment on the personal situation of our customers. There is no need for the company to change its policies. Services will continue to all customers without discrimination,” said Hans Michael Huber, managing director and CEO, Daimler Chrysler India. Maybach’s service centre say Mukesh still uses the car The Sanghi motors service centre of Maybach in Mumbai that has been providing after sale service to Ambani, however, said that Mukesh continues to use his opulent luxury car. “Mukesh Ambani is still using the Maybach and only a couple of days ago we received feedback that he was happy with the performance of the car. He had categorically stated that he has been using it on all important occasions. We are still providing him service and maintenance work as required,” said Abhimanyu Singh, sales manager, Sanghi Motors.
  17. MTNL to disconnect Reliance POIs Friday, February 25, 2005 Irked over the non-payment of bills, the state-owned Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) is gearing up to disconnect the points of interconnections (POIs) with Reliance Infocomm. Reliance is yet to pay Rs 209 crores for the alleged routing of its long distance traffic through MTNL network. This has prompted telecom service providers in Delhi and Mumbai to start the process of disconnecting those POIs, where Reliance had not paid up fully. Reliance is understood to have paid a total of Rs 100 crore, of which an equal share has gone to MTNL Delhi and Mumbai. Sources said MTNL had slapped a bill of Rs 309 crore on Reliance Infocomm for routing international calls as domestic ones. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) had also alleged that Reliance was routing international traffic illegally through its network. Reliance Infocomm had moved the Delhi High Court against BSNL on the issue of routing international calls on the PSUs network. Reliance has claimed that the bills presented by the PSUs were inflated. - UNI
  18. Press Trust of India Feb 24, 2005 16:17:00 - New Delhi Concerned over the alleged scam involving hundreds of crores in rerouting of international calls, premier investigating agency CBI has launced a probe into working of Reliance Infocomm and some other top private telecom operators. The probe by CBI comes amid a major crackdown by Department of Telecom and its PSUs which have imposed stiff penalties that have been challenged by Reliance Infocomm. The CBI, which has initiated the probe suo-motu, has asked the concerned authorities to furnish relevant details of international telecom traffic which is alleged to have been rerouted as local calls to avoid payment to levy to telecom PSUs, CBI officials said. The investigating agency stumbled upon the case during its investigations in the illegal telephone exchanges busted in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh recently during the agency's special drive on February two. CBI officials said that during its investigations into the functioning of illegal exchanges in the Southern states, it had found involvement of certain private telecom companies and some officials of Department of Telecommunications. The official said the companies had been asked to provide relevent details to the Economic Offences Wing of the CBI. The officials, however, clarified that no case has been registered against Reliance and other telecom companies
  19. Reliance "Ownership Issues"

The Reliance saga could finally be reaching its climax. Businessworld | February 25, 2005 Ambani vs Ambani - A Final Solution in sight ? According to a news story published in the latest issue of Businessworld, ICICI CEO K V Kamath may have succeeded in brokering a deal between the two Ambani brothers -- Anil and Mukesh. Kamath, who is acting as an arbitrator in the dispute, has prepared his final report, which suggests a way to carve up the empire between the two. The brothers are expected to present it to their mother Kokilaben Ambani in the next few days. Over the last couple of days, Kamath has had several rounds of meetings with the two Ambani brothers at his Bandra Kurla Complex headquarters in Mumbai, sometimes separately with each one and also together. According to the terms of the division, Anil will now get to run Reliance Energy and Reliance Capital. Additionally, he will also be given the petrochemicals business of Reliance Industries. It is expected that the petrochemicals business of RIL would be hived-off and merged into IPCL, which will then be managed by Anil. Mukesh, on the other hand, will get the oil and gas business of RIL and also continue to run Infocomm. On the face of it, the division appears equitable. Before Reliance Petroleum was merged with Reliance Industries in 2000-01, both the businesses were almost of the same size. So what Kamath has apparently now recommended is to once again split RIL into two -- giving the brothers a mutually acceptable share of the company. This way, he has also allowed each brother to retain the businesses they had initiated. For example, Anil gets to keep the two businesses -- Reliance Capital and Reliance Energy -- which he had initiated, while Mukesh gets to keep Infocomm. If the final settlement finally proves acceptable to the brothers, it would mean that Mukesh is now willing to climb down from his original stand of not splitting RIL.

  21. Reliance Info 2nd phase expansion by December Ahmedabad February 23, 2005 Private sector telecom operator Reliance Infocomm has set a December deadline to complete its second phase roll-out of both CDMA cellular services and data services. In the second phase of its expansion plan, the company is expected to add four lakh villages and 5,700 towns across the country to its network at an estimated investment of around Rs 10,000 crore. According to company officials, the expansion in rural areas may not have any impact on the company’s average revenue per user (ARPU), which stood at Rs 320.39 in the third quarter of the current financial year. “The second-phase network expansion work will cover major national and state highways and railway tracks connecting major cities and towns even as this phase is a part of our Rs 25,000 crore national roll-out programme,” Vijay Grover, circle chief executive officer, Reliance Infocomm, told Business Standard here on Tuesday, on the sidelights of the launch of its phase two expansion plan. Reliance Infocomm plans to cover 85 per cent of Gujarat by September this year. In the second phase, the company will use 80,000 km of fibre cables and 92 per cent of national highways along with 85 per cent of India’s existing railway route. Also, the company is esscriber base to 40 million from 20 million. Sources said it is looking to cover 56 per cent of the country’s six lakh villages and these villages account for over 38 crore population. The company is also targeting to set up 5,000 basic transceiver switches (BTS) which is currently at 4,000 BTS. Reliance Infocomm had witnessed a 12.71 per cent rise in its APRU at Rs 320.39 during the third quarter ended December 2004 against Rs 284.25 in the corresponding period of last year. Only two other Indian cellular operators Idea Cellular and BPL Mobile had reported an increase in ARPU at 3.03 percent and 1.08 percent, respectively, during the quarter. Hutch had reported a 0.80 per cent decline in its ARPU. “The rural expansion would not have any significant impact on our current ARPU as we have always played the volume game and we are confident that a large volume in our rural market will more than compensate for the lower ARPU. That does not mean that we will not look at creating appropriate and sustainable revenue streams out of these markets,” said Grover. He also added that the company would not come out with more amnesty schemes for defaulters. Interestingly, though Reliance Infocomm reported the highest surge in ARPU during the third quarter among cellular operators (BSNL data are not available), its ARPU stands significantly lower than other major players. While its peak ARPU stands at Rs 320.39, Hutch, which witnessed a dip in its ARPU during the period under consideration, posted an ARPU of Rs 484.08 and Bharti’s ARPU dropped 4.52 per cent to Rs 413.76.
  22. yes Rakesh, Gujrat is next ! Ahmedabad February 23, 2005 - Business Standard Reliance Infocomm, which has eight lakh subscribers in Gujarat circle, plans a massive rural push by adding 16,000 villages under its cellular network by end of this year. It would add 181 new towns during the second phase of its roll out. Reliance Infocomm, which at present lacks proper network coverage on major national highways and even on Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway, now would cover all major national and state highways connecting Ahmedabad with major cities in Gujarat and Diu, a union territory. Addressing a media conference here on Tuesday, Vijay Grover, circle chief executive officer, Reliance Infocomm, said, “Post phase-II roll out, Reliance would be covering more than 94 per cent of urban population of Gujarat and 16,000 villages which will help us increase our subscriber base substantially from the current eight lakh. The expansion would also mean that the subscribers in the proposed towns and villages would be able to use the company’s high-speed mobile Internet service R-Connect as our study reveals that people living in villages in Gujarat have a strong demand for Internet services.” At present, Reliance Infocomm provides service in 55 towns in the state which would be hiked to 236 towns once the phase-II roll out is completed which is part of Reliance Infocomm’s second phase national roll out. “With data capability, Internet now will be provided in these 16,000 odd villages and we have also decided to initiate unique marketing campaign targeting the rural population in the state. We also have decided to expand network coverage sectorwise such as religious towns, industrial areas, maritime zones and places of tourist importance under which network will be extended to towns such as Mandali, Alang, Metoda, Mithapur, Atul, Palej, Sikka, Thangadh etc,” said Grover.
