  1. Tuesday, 30 December , 2003 New Delhi: Mobile phones subscribers of Reliance, Tatas and Bharti can expect a change in numbering scheme shortly, as Government is likely to allot 10-digit numbering starting with 93 series to Reliance and 97 series to Tatas. With this TRAI is also believed to have deferred, yet again, the proposed introduction of the new IUC (Interconnect Usage Charges) regime by at least a month to February from the earlier scheduled date of January 1, 2004. "The numbering and IUC could be implemented together from February 1, 2004. The new numbering scheme has to be implemented with IUC to enable us to differentiate between fixed and mobile calls to compute the charges," TRAI sources said. When contacted Telecom secretary, Vinod Vaish said "We are agreeable to TRAI's proposal for change in numbering and have decided that a 30-day period (starting from January 1) should be given to operators to switch over to the new numbering scheme." As per the scheme, all full mobility phones including CDMA technology phones will have ten-digit numbers. Department of Telecom has decided to allot 92 series to Bharti, '93' series to Reliance and `97 series to Tatas, while the smaller players would remain in the 98 series, sources added. Simply speaking, all Reliance Infocomm numbers which go fully mobile, will now be prefixed with 93 instead of 3 and the length of the number will increase from 8 digit to 10 digit.
  2. UNBILL INFO at R-World

I've noticed it too, in LG handsets. I have 2 LG handests, one with Budget Plan and other with Pioneer offer. Other than the software version, there is no other difference between the handsets. Even after resetting R-World many times, it won't show up. Also, the 'New Year' option in 'New Arrivals' is shown on the first handset, and not shown in the other. Anyone else have faced the same ?
  3. Data cable and software

No ! Never ! Yes it does as normal, but no guarentee well, it has been reported that the connection speed is good is some parts of the country, and for users with Cable/DSL, etc., it doesnt seem to be a good option. For me, the connection speed is only comparable with a dialup. Yes, its kilo bits per second, which means about 14 kilo bytes per second.
  4. Effective R-Connect Speeds

R Connect speed varies depending on the SDCA where you are using. If it is a bigger SDCA with more customers, the speed would be less, while in less populated SDCA's, the speed should be more. Also, the speed is better during early mornings.

  7. DAKC (Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City), Navi Mumbai. December 22, 2003 Reliance Infocomm and Citibank today unveiled India's first online mobile credit card payment solution enabling direct payment from Reliance IndiaMobile handsets. The first application to use this payment mode is "RIM-Bill Payment", a service that facilitates Reliance IndiaMobile subscribers to pay their mobile bill at the touch of a mobile phone button from the R World. The solution works by setting up a secure connection over the air between a Reliance IndiaMobile handset and the mobile payment gateway of Citibank. RIM Bill Payment is a wireless data application under the R World suite of data services available on Reliance IndiaMobile handsets. Using the facility, customers can view billing details and make payment by entering a personal four digit PIN for security and authentication. The service also provides the facility to check details of the last transaction. All Visa, MasterCard and Diners Club credit cards can be used for the transaction. "With this new feature added to R World service portfolio, RIM customers have the convenience of paying RIM bill anytime, anywhere", said Mahesh Prasad, President, President, Applications Solutions Group, Reliance Infocomm Ltd. This arguably is one of the most simple and convenient ways of paying bills remotely. Apart from the ease of use, this innovative application provides many benefits to RIM customers - · Ability to pay anytime anywhere, · Option to Store Card details through a one-time sign up process or to enter card details at the time of transaction without storage. · Free credit period of up to 50 days · Rewards points on credit card as a result of the usage. · What's more - this service currently comes free of charge to the customer! Citibank Credit card customers have a special inaugural privilege. All Reliance bill payments made through the R World application with their Citibank credit would earn double the reward points till March 31, 2004. "The transmission of data in Reliance IndiaMobile network is more secure than conventional channels due to multiple layers of security. CDMA air-interface, through which the data is transmitted, automatically scrambles voice and data, making interception nearly impossible. The second level of protection is provided by 128-bit encryption and secure socket layer (SSL), which ensures data is transmitted from the handsets in encrypted form. The third level of security is provided by the fact that Reliance IndiaMobile handsets are hardwired to communicate only with Reliance Application Platform (RAP), which is secured behind impregnable firewalls and physically located in the highly secure data centers operated by Reliance Infocomm. And lastly, all critical customer data like PIN and credit card number are always stored and transmitted in encrypted formats," Mr. Prasad added. Sarvesh Sarup, Consumer Bank Head, Citibank India said, " We're proud to pioneer in partnership with Reliance the first Online Mobile Payment Gateway in India for card members. This unlocks the potential for payment and M Commerce applications on the mobile phone, hitherto restricted to the wired Internet world".
  8. DAKC (Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City), Navi Mumbai. December 18, 2003 Reliance Infocomm today announced nationwide roaming for all Reliance IndiaMobile (RIM) customers at no extra charge. They can now carry their Reliance IndiaMobile phones across the pan India Reliance network and make calls at the home tariff plan rate for which they have subscribed, while retaining their home mobile number. The rates applicable for all out going calls while roaming will be same as that in the customers' home tariff plan. For receiving incoming calls while roaming outside their home circle, RIM customers will have to pay only the tariff rates that are currently applicable for a long distance call from RIM phones to CDMA mobile phones. For example, a Kolkata based customer with Budget 149 tariff plan needs to pay only Rs 1.99/minute to receive any call from anywhere while roaming in Chennai as opposed to Rs 6.44/minute charged by most mobile service providers. With the introduction of roaming, RIM customers, just like customers of other mobile service providers, will not have to pay incoming charges for receiving calls while traveling within the home circle. "We are moving away from the concept of airtime charge plus surcharge for roaming, which mobile customers have been compelled to pay for the last several years by other mobile service providers. This provides a saving of up to 70% for a RIM customer over customers of other mobile service providers. Other advantages for RIM customers include SMS and voice mail access at home tariff rates while traveling outside their circle. We believe the true value of mobile phones comes into play only when customers can use their mobile phones anywhere in the country without having to worry about the high tariffs outside their home circle and paying deposits or rentals for availing of roaming service. This move once again reasserts the leadership role being played by Reliance IndiaMobile in redefining mobile telephony in India", said Mr. SP Shukla, President - Wireless Products and Services, Reliance Infocomm Ltd. Reliance's pan India network ensures higher call success rates and guarantees that customer service is just a call away for RIM subscribers. The toll free access number *333 for RIM customer service in multilingual helpline is available when roaming across the country.
