  1. IP.Board 4.1.13.2 was released couple of days ago and I have upgraded the forum now. I am hoping this would iron out previously reported issues. So please let me know if your issue is resolved now and if you notice any new issues.

  2. Tapatalk has finally released an update for IP.Board a couple of days and I have upgraded Tapatalk (1.2.5) along with IP.Board as well. Can you check if the previously reported issues are still there or not and let me know?

  3. IP.Board has been upgraded to version 4.1.12.1 now which should fix some of the issues in the new version.

@nitink That looks like an issue with cookie as you are unable to use the new password as well. If it is still not working for you then please contact me via PM and I will try to login to your account.

@NanduNaada I have seen the double notification sometimes as well. I am not sure if the new version fixed that issue; if not I will have to check with the devs again.

For Tapatalk related issues please use this topic:

Earlier, when "unread content" was clicked, it would show a list of threads and also the links for individual pages beside  each threqad, so we could directly open a particular page of a thread directly from the list. Now the last is shown only at the top when the thread is opened. So First we have to open a particular thread from the unread contents list, and then go to a particular page of that opened thread.

You can click on the last update time link below the topic title to go directly to the last unread post. For example in the following Unread list, clicking on "13 minutes ago" will take me directly to the last unread post in that topic:

    regarding second issue,

I am using firefox and every time I opened a page a pop-up was coming up  "www.rimweb.in .... Would you like to receive notifications from this site? ". now found the option to block it.

That is a notification feature in your browser where updates (like reply notifications) can be pushed to your desktop when the browser is open (or running in the background) even if you haven't opened the website. To manage browser notifications you can check your browser settings. For Firefox see: https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2016/01/25/firefox-can-now-get-push-notifications-from-your-favorite-sites/

Tapatalk for IPB 4 has been installed now. Please let me know if it is working fine or not.

In the new format, there is no option to directly go to a particular page of a thread. This means that every time we have to first open the thread then go to the last page. It makes viewing more difficult and also uses more data.

Not sure if I understood your question. This is the menu bar that I see which has the first page link (<<), last page link (>>), Next page link (NEXT), individual page links and option to enter a particular page number to go to that page:

Also, the continuous prompts to accept notifications is very irritating.

Can you let me know which notifications are you referring to?

  7. I have activated the OneWorld SIM yesterday (using HTC Incredible 2) and I have noticed that 3G/EVDO is connecting randomly on my Droid Ultra. I'm trying to figure out what is causing it. I was able to get 1+ mbps and 500+ kbps up on SpeedTest when it was connected.

BTW if you have traveled overseas, do you know if missed calls and incoming SMS are still free of charge on the OneWorld SIM?

  9. Reliance Jio begins trial, employees get services’ free run

    The Financial Express - December 2, 2015 12:41 AM

Ahead of the launch of its mobile services, Reliance Jio Infocomm (RJIO) on Tuesday commenced the beta services of its 4G mobile services. With this the company employees will now use Jio mobile services during a trial period of two months.

According to industry sources, after successfully completing the trial run, RJIO is likely to roll out its 4G mobile services in selected circles. During the trial period RIL employees would get free unlimited data on purchase of handset, which is priced between Rs 9,000 and Rs 32,000.

In a letter written to its employees last week, the company said that the “Jio is set to enable everyone in India to live a Digital Life. As we make Jio ready for India and work towards the commercial launch, there is a special role for each one of us. We invite you today to start using Jio, and with your feedback (on quality of network) together we will ensure that Jio is ready for India. This is how we will connect the dots together with you…”.

The RIL employees can chose from a variety of new 4G VoLTE smartphones that come with the latest features such as crystal clear voice and video calling, at a special employee price, according to the letter addressed to RIL employees.

These handsets will also be made available at Digital Express stores from next week. It would also have a coupon worth Rs 13,200.

“A Jio prepaid SIM is at no cost loaded with voice, SMS, high-speed data, public Wi-Fi, and full access to Jio apps all together worth above Rs 13,800, plus additional benefits such as a power bank, extended warranty, insurance and Reliance Digital vouchers,” the letter stated.

Employees can also purchase a personal Wi-Fi device, a mobile hotspot that boosts all Wi-Fi enabled devices to 4G speeds. This will come with a Jio prepaid SIM and services such as 75 GB of data, public Wi-Fi, and full access to Jio’s apps worth above Rs 12,000.

Jio mobile users will even be able to recharge at no cost during the trial period in case they run out of voice, SMS or data.

  10. According to Zauba, an import data tracker website, nearly 5 lakh sim cards have been imported by Reliance Jio in the last month, which confirms the impending launch of the 4G services in the country. The sim cards have been imported from China to Delhi and carry a per unit price of Rs 19. Majority of the units were imported in October itself, which proves that Reliance might have been conducting some tests before the actual launch.

Since it says "GSM SIM CARD", will it be RCom's GSM network for fall back?

  11. Economic Times Bureau | The Hindu Business Line - 02 November 2015

Anil Ambani owned Reliance Communications is merging the telecom business of Sistema Shyam Teleservices (SSTL) with itself in a cashless deal worth around Rs 4,500-5,000 that will lead to the first major consolidation in the intensely competitive sector since 2009.

The move will be a challenge to Reliance Jio, which was the biggest holder of 800 MHz spectrum before this deal. With this, RCom has overtaken Jio as the holder of the biggest amount of 800 MHz 4G spectrum in India.

n addition, RCom will assume the liability to pay the government installments for SSTL's spectrum, amounting to Rs 392 crore per annum for the next 10 years.

"RCom will acquire approximately 9 million customers and approximately Rs 1,500 crore of annual revenues by virtue of the transaction," the company said in a statement.

In addition, RCom will acquire SSTL's most valuable and superior 800/850 MHz band spectrum, ideally suited for 4G LTE services, to complement its own unique nationwide footprint of minimum 5 MHz contiguous 800/850 MHz spectrum aggregating 148.75 MHz.

"SSTL will get around 10% stake in the combined entity, but no board seat and no veto powers," a person directly involved in the deal said. ET had first reported on May 20 that Reliance Communications (RCOM) is holding talks on a possible takeover of SSTL in an all-stock deal that could give the latter's shareholders a stake of around 10% in the merged entity.

The deal will give India's fourth largest carrier access to airwaves in the 850 Mhz band which can be used for 4G services that it plans to start by year-end. Moreover, it will be able to extend the validity of its licenses by 12 years in eight high revenue generating circles like Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. On the other hand, holders in SSTL, which has been struggling to grow its CDMAbased telecom business, will get to be a part of a stronger company.

Three people familiar with the matter said every shareholder of SSTL, the Indian unit of Russian conglomerate Sistema JSFC, will get one share of RCOM for 11.5 shares of theirs.

RCOM is valued at around Rs 19,000 crore according to the company's BSE closing stock price on Friday of Rs 75.25.

Besides the stock, RCOM won't take on any loans from pure play CDMA carrier's books, a relief to investors worried about the company's debt, which stood at Rs 38,595 crore at end of June. The company though needs to pay the roughly Rs 400 crore a year, including interest, for 10 years starting February 2016, that SSTL owes to the DoT for the spectrum won in the March 2013 auctions, sources said.

Excluding interest, SSTL, which operates in India under the MTS brand, owes around Rs 2,500 crore to the DoT which RCOM is taking on its books. "Post RCOM's board approval, it should take about five to six months for the deal to close, post approvals from CCI (Competition Commission of India) and DoT. This won't need an FIPB (Foreign Investment Promotion Board) nod," the person said. The promoter group holding in RCOM will come down to around 54% from nearly 60% currently.

The person added that Sistema JSFC may infuse more funds to raise its stake in the new entity at a later stage, but "nothing concrete has been decided on this issue". Sistema JSFC, which entered India in 2007, holds nearly 57% in SSTL. Other shareholders include the Russian government with more than 17% and Shyam Group holding 24%. Minority shareholders own the rest. Once the deal closes, it will be the first major consolidation in the sector since Telenor bought into Unitech Wireless in 2009.

"The MTS brand will cease to exist, while there is a non-compete clause with Sistema," the person said, adding that details on taking over MTS's employees are being worked ou. RCOM's board is meeting on Monday to consider the merger. Sistema's board cleared the deal on Saturday. Spokespersons at RCOM and SSTL declined to comment.

SSTL offers services in nine of India's 22 service areas to around 9 million subscribers. RCOM is a pan-India operator offering both CDMA and GSM services and has around 110 million users. "MTS brings in about Rs 1,500 crore of (annual) top line and around 10,000 sites, besides IT infrastructure," the person cited above said.

Analysts said buying MTS, which possesses airwaves in Delhi, Gujarat, TN, Karnataka, Kerala, UP (West), Kolkata, West Bengal and Rajasthan, may work well for RCOM given the latter's focus on 4G LTE. MTS bought spectrum in eight of those circles, excluding Rajasthan, in an auction in 2013. Thus RCOM won't have to pay anything more to the government.
