  2. anybody has ever used data plans RNC 600 unlimited and RNC 500 fredom plans. these plans can also be used on phone. RNC600 gives unlimited download while 500 has cap of 1GB and Rs.2/mb after that. any idea whether is it worth or not.
  3. frankly speaking, reliance dont have any good instrument in that range. if you opt from this forum then you can get any windows mobile in that range or little more. my personal feeling is that touch pro or similar is better but may cost more. reliance has pathetic instruments which highly overcharged and limited features. other option, wait till Jan for MNP, which is not far... many will be after my life after this post...
  4. Choosing A Television

the energy consumption is comparatively high in plasma and LCD. if you are buying below 40" then LCD. if >40" then plasma.. plasma is better when you watch sports compare to LCD. but difference is not so visible. in India, everyone will promote LCD and that too Sony. its like they odnt know what is Plasma and that other cos make TVs. since HD is very very remote in India, it does not make sense to go for flat panel. the quality does not make any sense unless watching DVDs. even though sun is providing HD, none of the channels are in HD negating the sun benefits. over a period, plasma have solved problems like burn-in issues and are now at par with LCD. for normal viewer, both are same without any problem. manufacturer plays vital role. in the long run, i think LED will prevail.
  5. reliance is master in tweaking the govt policy. they are highly "educated" to read between the lines and can go to any extent if they can save money at any cost. they are known for bribing the officers and get the policies tweaked to benefit them. dont be surpise if DOT does not find anything. we all know Mr. Raja. ever saw any reliance co punished except for monetary fines? monetary fines does not mean anything to them. the benefits that they achieved by twaeking govt policy far exceeds the fines. what happen to rcom for international calls being shown as national? so, in India, do something wrong on a big scale. if you do it on small scale, then govt. will screw you, if you do it on large scale, you will be in position where govt will not touch you.
  6. Help ! Problem With Brand New Touch Pro !

  7. Times of India, Mumbai has published following 2 articles (clubbed together) related to MNP.. From Dec 31, cell users can switch service, retain nos TIMES NEWS NETWORK New Delhi: Cellphone users in India will soon be able to change their service providers while retaining their numbers. Telecom regulator Trai on Wednesday issued regulations that will govern telecom mobile number portability (MNP) when it is launched on December 31 in metros and ‘A’ category circles and in the rest of the country by March 20 next year. MNP allows subscribers to retain their existing mobile telephone number when they move from one service provider to another in a licensed service area, irrespective of the mobile technology. It is thus a highly consumer-friendly initiative as it helps increase competition between service providers, catalysing improved quality of service. The deadline for implementation of MNP has already been extended twice, following resistance from operators who fear losing their high value, post-paid subscribers. “Implementing MNP by December 31 will be a real challenge as there are many unresolved issues,’’ director general of COAI, T V Ramachandran admitted to TOI. According to the regulations, MNP will be available only within a given licensed service area. User Friendly Users can switch service providers while retaining their existing numbers irrespective of the mobile technology A mobile subscriber can make a porting (switch) request only 90 days after his connection is activated If a number is ported once, it can be ported again only after 90 days from the date of the previous porting Subscribers will have to pay porting charges, if any Trai allows a maximum of 4 days for the completion of the porting process in all licensed service areas except J&K, Assam and the North-East MNP norms within 15 days: Trai New Delhi: Under the telecom mobile number portability (MNP) scheme, any mobile subscriber is eligible to make a porting request but only 90 days after the date of activation of the mobile connection. If a number is already ported once, the number can be ported again only after 90 days from the date of the previous porting. Subscribers must approach the recipient operator (the operator to whom the subscriber wants to port his number) and pay the porting charges, if any. “A separate regulation for porting charges will be released in 15 days,’’ Trai chairman J S Sarma told TOI. The subscriber making the porting request has to give an undertaking that all billed dues to the donor operator have been paid as on the date of the request for porting, that he shall pay dues to the donor operator till the eventual porting of the number and that he understands and agrees that in event of non-payment of any such dues, the ported mobile number is liable to be disconnected by the recipient operator. While a subscriber can withdraw his porting request within 24 hours of its submission to the recipient operator, the porting charges will not be refundable. Trai allows a maximum of 4 days for the completion of the porting process in all licensed service areas except J&K, Assam and the North-East where the maximum time allowed is 12 days. However, efforts will be made to further reduce the porting period, it says. It is the responsibility of the originating operator to route the call to the correct terminating network. Through these regulations, the telecom watchdog is laying down the basic business process framework for implementation of MNP in the country. TRAI placed the draft regulations on its website on June 27 for consultation with stakeholders. These regulations follow a careful review of written comments and open house discussions a month later.

  11. you should go to consumer court.. i think they do keep the record of all the winners. you can also make contest organiser party in court case. its like may be in front but actually contest organiser might be some other company. you can file case against both the cos. if you received a call from them, then they should have record about your win. the court can force them to disclose that..

its soft launched in Mumbai. but will take time for commercial launch. they dont want to repeat the mistakes they did while launching cdma.. further, if you knwo anybody in RCOM you can get GSM in next phase. they will be providing service to "recommended users".
  15. Importing From Usa Directly

good carriers like DHL, UPS, TNT etc. handle all the formalities. if all docs are proper, like invoice etc. then courier co will clear the parcel and delvier to you. they will give receipt of custom duty, octroi etc. custom duty is not fix. generaly its 15 or 16% and other levies totalling to nearly 19% and octroi extra.

  17. Sprint Htc Touch Diamond

HTC Touch Diamond on sprint. Hope we may get the same in India through this forum... While the official announcement wasn't supposed to cross the wires till next week, The Wall Street Journal went early with its story (please don't get me started on this) and published a review of the HTC Touch Diamond for Sprint. Yes, that's right. The Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone is officially part of the Sprint family; not that it was a complete surprise. The HTC Touch Diamond, as well as the HTC Touch Pro (no announcement on this model yet), were long rumored for a CDMA carrier months before Wednesday's early coming-out party. So now that the floodgates are open, here is what we know. There are a number of differences between the Sprint HTC Touch Diamond and the unlocked version we reviewed in late June. First, it sports a purple/burgundy backplate to add more flash to an already sexy phone. The smartphone is also a smidge thicker and heavier at 4 inches tall by 2 inches wide by 0.6 inch deep and 4.1 ounces, but keeps the same 2.8-inch, 262,000-color TFT touch screen. Of course, one of the highlights of the HTC Touch Diamond is the TouchFLO 3D interface, which provides a toolbar along the bottom of the screen where you can move left to right with the swipe of your finger to launch applications. Sprint's version is optimized so that you can access things like live TV, weather, e-mail, photos, contacts, and more. In addition to the toolbar, there are several programs, such as e-mail, the camera, and music, where you can go flip through your files and messages by swiping your thumb/finger up or down the screen with a cool animated 3D effect. Moving on to the features, the HTC Touch Diamond for Sprint runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Edition, but rather than being content with the standard Microsoft Office Mobile Suite, the smartphone also ships with Dataviz's Documents to Go Suite and the Opera Web browser. We're sure many will be pleased with inclusion of these applications, which are arguably more robust than the former. Wireless options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth (with A2DP support), EV-DO Rev. A, and GPS with support for Sprint Navigation. For fun time, the Touch Diamond works with Sprint's various multimedia services, including Sprint TV and the Sprint Music Store. HTC also developed a YouTube application that allows you to view said clips, and the handset is equipped with a 3.2-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities. There's 4GB of internal memory, but it appears, once again, the phone lacks an expansion slot. Tsk, tsk. The Touch Diamond's 1,340mAh lithium ion battery is rated for 4.2 hours of talk time. The HTC Touch Diamond for Sprint is expected to be available some time in September for $249.99 with a two-year contract and after rebates and discounts. Though a specific release date was not available at the time of this writing, you can sign up for updates from Sprint's Web site. Now, Katherine Boehret of the WSJ wasn't particularly fond of the device, noting major issues with Windows Mobile in her review and how it's not as intuitive as the iPhone. We had our own set of problems with the unlocked version of the Touch Diamond, namely the sluggish performance, but we're wiping the slate clean and approaching Sprint's version with an open mind. Any initial thoughts? Source: cnet.com
  18. Bad Quality Of Htc P3000 Handset

I realy pity on those who purchase reliance HTC models (p3000 and S720) and costs 'million' when you compare features, specs, looks etc. if you read the specs, they are quite old lot. chipset and other specs are very old. even p3000 model by itself seems similar "age old" O2. they provide USB 1 or 1.1 while USB 2.0 is in circulation for more than 3 years or so. as kshah, said u can get good handsets from sadik. other option, Nokia 6275 is the best. my dad is using since it was launched. dont go for any other. low end nokia phones are of no use.
  19. its not only handset, qualcom charges royalty on equipments also. they do not charge any royalty on handsets sold in US. Qualcom's entire income is based on such royalties. if they stop royalties, then their stock price will suffer and they will not be able to make more money. Further, nokia is also reducing their CDMA output because royalty. they tried a lot to reduce or minimize the royalty. Qualcom CEO had visited India, abt 2 years ago or so, to request Tata & Rcom not to migrate to GSM.
