@mgdelhi: I sourced it locally for about Rs.2700 last month. Prices must've dropped now. The reason I did that was because of the 5 year warranty. If something happens to the card I preferred having to go back only to a local vendor to get a replacement.

Boss, read my post carefully: Extract the zip file, to your computer, which by default opens up in a Folder called Karsewa. Create a Folder called Destinator apps on your memory card. Copy all extracted files from the karsewa folder into the Destinator apps/ One India folder you have created on your memory card. Two folders need to be created on the memory card, one called Destinator apps and then a second folder INSIDE the Destinator apps folder called One India The Maps have to copied into the One India folder in the memory card, NOT the main memory. You have solved the issue though, so that's great!!!! Happy GPSing

Go ahead and buy the 8GB SDHC by SanDisk. I've been using it from the day I got my HTC Touch. Lovely card!!! Comes with a 5 year warranty and its own card reader too.

Add your custom logos to these two folders Animations/240x320 and SplashImages/240x320 in the BuildOS folder. Ensure that the images are of 240x320 ratio though.

@Dhiraj: In fact this evening, my clock went 1 hour FORWARD, not back, after using GPS. lol I will try and find out if there is some way to rectify that issue which Deepak has pointed out. Probably it is a Destinator issue. But as for now, I dont mind correcting the time after using GPS, atleast it doesnt charge you for correcting the time, while Google charges you for using GPS @Gaurav: Make two folders. First create a folder called Destinator apps. Inside Destinator apps folder create a new folder and name it One India. Download all the files from http://www.rimweb.in/downloads/India/ and place them in the folder called One India. Then upload the Destinator apps folder to your memory card. Follow rest of instructions as stated in my post earlier.

No, haven't had that problem about clock slowing down, as yet. Probably I need to run the gps program a lot more extensively, which I plan to do over the weekend, as I will be driving about 600kms on Saturday/ Sunday. I will update here if I come across any issues.

Download and install the Destinator software according to my previous post. Now get these two additonal softwares also and install to your phone: 1) GPS Toggle. The software available in Ashok Karkera's Thread "Find Your Way With The Htc Ppc 6800 - Mogul, PPC 6800 has a STANDALONE GPS!!! - And It works here too" in Post # 20 2) GPS Test. Download the software from HERE Install both softwares and follow Step 3 from post #14 of Ashok's thread to enable COM 4 and Baud rate 4800 in your connection settings on your phone. You will now notice that you have a GPS toggle on your Today screen. Switch your GPS on, using this toggle. Go to Programs and run GPS test and go to Menu/ Settings and ensure that Connection settings is COM 4 and Baud rate is 4800. Let the GPS Test run now till you get 3 or more satellite fixes on your phone. Make sure you are standing in a nice clear area if you need to get a quick GPS fix. Now open your Destinator software. Go to Options/ Settings/ GPS Signal/ Set.. make sure GPS settings are in COM 4 and baud rate is 4800 here also and click OK. You will see a screen which says your GPS is now connected with the number of satellites. Using the Back button, go one page back and click on the Map button on the bottom right of your Destinator screen. You will now be running on pure GPS without internet

@Dhiraj: The unzipped file size of One India map is 51MB. It can be extracted to your memory card in the following path Mem card/Destinator apps/ One India. Download the One India map from post# 76 by Gaurav in the thread "Find Your Way With The Htc Ppc 6800 - Mogul, PPC 6800 has a STANDALONE GPS!!! - And It works here too" by Karki It is a zip file called karsewa hosted on rapidshare. Extract the zip file, to your computer, which by default opens up in a Folder called Karsewa. Create a Folder called Destinator apps on your memory card. Copy all extracted files from the karsewa folder into the Destinator apps/ One India folder you have created on your memory card. Download the Destinator software which is in the same post by Gaurav. When you first extract the Destinator file you have downloaded, it will extract by default to folder named WM and will contain a cab file called Main and a dll file called Destcore Copy these two files onto your mem card and run the cab file. The Destinator software will install to your phone ( It will install by default to the main memory of your phone) Now copy the Destcore dll file you have copied to your memory card and paste it to the following path on your phone to the main memory : My Device/ Destinator Apps/ Destinator/ It will replace the old destcore file there with the one you just copied. Now you will be able to run the Destinator software with the One India map

Yes it is possible to use gps without net connection, only if you're using Destinator or other software of that sort. For google map you need internet connection as the maps are loaded from the Net, not from your memory card.

@hetal: Boss, a few of the shortcuts on the Today of the new ROM are left blank or do not point to the intended applications. eg: The iContacts shortcut on the main tab, the Internet shortcut on the Net tab, Multimedia shortcut on media tab etc. Is there some way I can edit those broken shortcuts and get them to work again? I presume that installing the iContacts app should take care of the first shortcut, but I dont want iContacts as I already have PhotoContactsPro loaded instead. Is there some way that I can point the Photocontacts shortcut to the missing shortcut on the Today tab? Absolutely lovely ROM this time Hetal. Great work mate!! Thanks.

Could somebody explain how to connect the PPC to the computer using the USB cable and enable the phone as modem? In ActiveSync mode the computer does not detect the phone as a modem on any of the COM ports. Do we have to enable the DM router first and then configure the phone? If someone could point me to a thread which has the requisite info to configure the phone to use as modem please help me. Thanks

That's weird. I have been playing entire playlists of 30-40 songs in mp3 format on windows media player without any hassle. The issue of reliance recorded message being replaced by 3 beeps is not an issue with Hetal's ROM. I'm running on the original leaked rom and even I have that issue, so I doubt it has anything to do with Hetal's ROM. @ Hetal: You have 96 MB free RAM in Program? wow!!! That's absolutely mind blowing boss!! Isnt total Program memory only 104 MB?? Which means your phone just utilises 8MB RAM. Now that's what I call memory management!!! As for me, the free memory I have is 47MB RAM in Program and 104 MB RAM in phone Storage memory.

Here is the link to the Sprint 3.37 ROM for Touch Link

Original Sprint 2.13 or Leaked Sprint 3.37?? Original 2.13 : ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Vogue/Users/ImCoKeM..._NV133_Ship.exe If you cant access the ftp let me know, I'll upload to rapidshare. I dont have the link to Leaked Sprint 3.37 but I can upload it to rapidshare for you if you like. Let me know if you need it.

@ dhiraj: Vijay is on the Mogul while I'm on the Touch. The speed issues (or lack of it) hanging, etc are more to do the difference in memory between the two models. Even with about 7-8 apps running simultaneosly, the Touch barely slows down. But I ensure that I dont have that many running most of the time, I was using 8 apps open at the same time just to check the perfomance of the phone. Its very smooth.

Have you tried reinstalling the registry editor program ?

I am using a software called GetPDAScreen with which you can take screenshots of your phone when it is connected to ActiveSync. I am getting an error when trying to upload the software for you here, so I will give you the link instead. You can get it from here Save the screenshot files as JPEG images and upload to your post under "manage attachments" using the small icon wtih + sign in there. Hope this helps

Yes Dhiraj, I'm assuming the procedure should work on the Mogul as well, since both are running on more or less the same platform. To start right from the beginning: (1)Hook up PPC to computer thru ActiveSync, with Hetal's extended ROM extracted into SD card so that two folders called Boot and Service and a SD Config text file are located in the SD card. (2)Bring up the bootloader and flash Sprint Leaked ROM and let it install. (Please ensure you have already unlocked using Cokeman's unlocker if you are doing this for the first time!!) (3)Remove USB connection to computer and let Initial booting up of PPC happen, giving about 30 seconds time before calibrating stylus, etc. (4)Soft reset BEFORE Sprint customisation takes place ( when you see you have 3 seconds for Sprint customising to begin, immediately do the soft reset!!) (5)After the PPC boots up completely, check connection setting to see if Hetals cabs have been loaded, if not, run the cabs from Service folder in your SD card. The cabs which need to be installed are HP_Rel_MobileWorld, HP_Rel_NetConnect and Reliance3.sa. (6)After making sure now the Reliance settings are visible in your connection settings, soft reset once more and let PPC re-start. (7)On your desktop, right click and create new text file and rename it as HTC_CM_Guardian.exe. (8)Download and install Total Commander (cab or windows installer version) from HERE on your PPC. (9)Now connect your PPC to computer and upload the HTC_CM_Guardian file you had earlier created and save it on your SD card. (10)Browse to the Program folder on your phone and delete the folder named IOTA from there.(Use Total Commander if the folder is not visible with File Explorer) (11)Using Total Commander, browse to Windows folder and replace the HTC_CM_Guardian.exe file you will find inside there, with the 0byte HTC_CM_Guardian folder you have in your SD card. (12)Close all applications, disconnect from USB cable and soft rest your PPC. (13)When PPC has fully booted up, Go to Setting/Connections/Manage my Connections and delete the Sprint dialer you see inside there and click OK. (14) Next go to the Advanced tab and under Select Networks, select Reliance MobileWorld as your Network and click OK. (15)Test you connection now using Internet Explorer, your phone should be able to connect to the Net directly. (16)Soft reset once more, and after phone has fully restarted, click IE and check if Net is being connected. It should be working perfectly fine. ENJOY!!! This should solve the issue once and for all. Hope you guys will find it useful.

Use Resco explorer or Total Commander, you'll see it listed in the Windows folder as an exe file, alternatively if you have Resco explorer, just search for the file using the given name followed by.exe It is also visible if you use the File Explorer, only make sure you have "Show all files" setting ticked in the file explorer first. The HTC_CM_Guardian.exe file is immediately after the HTC Camera file in the list.

Mine's more of a "permanent" solution bhai If you try it, let us know if it works for you as well
-
Eureka!!!! The Net connection problem of the Sprint dialer has been fixed!!! This is the procedure: Install Hetal's Reliance cabs and make sure they're seen in your network settings. After that use Resco Explorer to first delete the IOTA folder from inside the Programs folder. Now create a dummy text file on your computer desktop called HTC_CM_Guardian.exe . Copy it to your SD card and then using Total Commander (Mobile version) copy and replace the file by the same name in the Windows folder of your Touch. Go to Connections Manager and delete the Sprint Dialer and make the RelianceMobileWorld dialer your default dialer. Soft reset. You will now be able to connect to the Net using Internet Explorer or Opera from your PPC. This procedure worked perfectly for me, I hope it works for you guys too!!
-
Thank you for the good news Hetal. Looking forward to seeing your new ROM being uploaded here soon.
-
Your profile states that you are a subscriber from "outside India". The Ext. Rom which I think you are mentioning,is Hetal's extended rom which is needed to install Reliance cabs on your phone, which, I dont think would be useful to you, since you are not on the Reliance network.

I'm unable to upload files of more than 1 MB in size. Is there some kind of a restriction, cuz I'm getting an "Access denied" description in the Error report on the page. Additional even before uploading any file there's already a message on the attachments section of the upload page which states "Attachment space used 949.85K of unlimited" Would somebody please clarify this issue for me? Thanks
