  2. @Jayant @ Kumaar Shah

you r welcome my friends. Although as compared to other members i'v got very little knowledge about mobiles, but whatever i know i'll surely share it with friends.

But u know what really surprises me is that almost 90% of Nokia mobile users face the same problem what Jayant has faced. even i have corrected hundreds of other users too.

Well now i'v started feeling that its not just being unaware by the user but its more like a bug in Nokia Phones.

I'v never used 6265 or 6275 but i have a Nokia 6230 (gsm) but as all nokias have same interface i knew what was the error.

    Regards :(

  3. ^^^

either way, the backlight on my 6265 goes off within 15 secs as it has been set to that time. SO how is it different, anuragz?

actually 'Media player' is meant to play all type of media that a handset supports i.e. video formats like mpg, avi, 3gp & audio formats like wav, aac, mp3,amr etc.

U must have noticed that while playing videos the backlight never turns off. It is designed that way.

'Media player' is basically designed to play videos but when u play audio files in media player it treats them also as video format & thus keeps the backlight on while that track is playing.

Now when u play audios on media player or even when u browse mp3 through galary & select to play, the track is played in 'media player' by default. & the backlight remains turned on.

That's why mp3 should always be played through 'Music Player' application in the phone.

Jayant also quoted that problem appears only when playing mp3 but not while listening to radio.

its only b'coz u cannot play radio in media player & radio has a seperate application to play.

I m sure Jayant must be playing mp3 in 'media player' & not in 'Music player'

  4. I have this query for the technical people to answer.

    This is quite tricky......

Tata allows all its mobiles 'Roam like home' features. That means if you ever take your mobile on roaming then it will act as a local mobile with local tariffs in that circle.

Suppose i take 2 tata mobiles

    A(Delhi number)

    B(Mumbai number)

    & i keep both A & B in Mumbai.

Now if i call from A to B, I can call on local tariffs. (Roam like home tariff)

(& if i take free Tata 2 tata pkg on mobile A then all my calls from mobile A to mobile B will be free {while both mobiles are in mumbai})

Now if I divert all incoming calls on mobile A to mobile B.

then will I be able to receive all incoming calls (on mobile A) while roaming for free on mobile B?

(As incoming call from Mobile A will be diverted to Mobile B & all calls from Mobile A to Mobile B are free. & mobile B is a local number & not on roaming so all Incoming calls to it are free.

    Is it possible ??

  5. Rs1/min that too for listening a song is too much. i think it's very expensive.

it's rather better to buy a phone with fm. there r more than 10 fm stations in almost all cities & on some station or the other u can always listen to your favourite song.

& if u r a bigger music fan then go for a phone with mp3 player, just load your favourite stuff. thats it.

I even received a sms regarding mobile fm on my gsm phone. their service is even more costlier. it costs somewhere between Rs3-5/min.

Although such a service is good as it shows develepmont in technology. But their t high tariffs & availability of better alternate options at cheaper prices makes them useless for consumers.

  6. i would like to disagree about some of the above comments..why?..well

first..tata, air tel and reliance all are offering cheap on net std rates...so it might not be very useful for people who call off net std..

second..if one has to make random std calls from delhi it would be best advised to take the 444 postapaid plans from hutch and idea which has a rental of 444 and gives full value talktime applicable to local and std on net as well off net besides 444 sms a month.the call rates are flat at 1 rupee for std and 6 paise for local calls.

For sure 444 plans are among best plans available. But these are only good for moderate/normal users, for those who need heavy std calling that too at particular numbers, for them these plans will prove to be quite expensive.

& above all this thread is only dedicated to find out the cheapest std rates available. :)

  7. I have a friend with a RIM Nokia 6255. He considering a shift to Tata because of the more attractive tariffs. Does anybody have any positive info on whether this handset can be used on the Tata network?

6255 was not activated through a RUIM by reliance although it has a RUIM slot. I think it should work wtih tata, but only our rimweb handsets experts can confirm this.

  8. Oh ok. Guess i missed that page ...thanks for pointing it out. But for obvious reasons the Tata plans still seem much better ...esp. since there will be no rental ...and the night time addon pack!

    Hi Raccoon,

You r right, if anyone wanna go for a landline connection than NO ONE CAN BEAT this TATA plan

    http://www.tataindicom.com/t-2reasons-to-smile.aspx

i'v never seen such cheap tariff for any phone connection. that too with zero rental, even clip is free.

This is really a great plan. i wonder if someday mobile tariffs would be as low as this.

  9. Dear friends,

right now i am residing in delhi

I want to purchase two sets of tata indicom.my expected usage is 3 to 4 hrs per day between these two nos.

I want to know that how stable tata network is i mean voice clarity.

also howz the performance of tata indicom samsung hero nxt and Huewai( FM phone).

I can also go for RIM so suggets me what should i opt.

    manish,

well i m too in delhi & fortunately i have both Samsung Heronxt & Huwai Rythem(fm phone).

Earlier i had two reliance connection which i got disconnected due to improper plans & bills.

    I am quite satisfied with Tata's network/bills/service.

    Read This

As far as handsets are concerned both the handsets u mentioned are fine for Talk & Text.

Display is good also good battery life. Heronxt is a good handset for a price tag of Rs 1000/-.

But i must tell u this that i m not very satisfied with the speaker of these cheap phones.

The speaker sound bursts at high volume. So i use a good handsfree with them & handsfree sound is perfectly clear.

    Read this

Huwai is also good but i found some trouble when using it with a handsfree. Some vibration sound is heard by the other person if huwai user is using it with a handsfree.

I'd rather recommend that u go for Motorola W170 fm phone(2300/-) which is slightly expensive than Huwai (1900/-) but a beter performer.

u can pm me if u want me to suggest u a good plan & tell u who's giving best deals.

  10. i dont understand why people are so amazed & happy to hear these new roaming plans ???

whatever BSNL & Reliance have done now after planning for so many days, TATA is giving much better roaming plans since its begining.

Even now Tata has unbeatable & very econimical, simple & attractive plans.

Since begining till date Tata is giving 'Roam Like Home' tariff while roaming. & just by paying Rs 150/- extra on any plan, you get 750 mins (i.e. 12.5hrs) incoming free & after 750 mins .50p/min incoming.

Now u decide which roaming plan is more favourable for subscribers ??

  11. Tata has launched a very attractive add on pkg for onnet std on one particular number....

    Most Dialled Lite -STD

All T2T Calls & SMS to One Tata Number anywhere in India to be charged @ 25paise/min & 25paise/SMS (Rs.25/ mth )

    Most Dialled Jumbo - STD

500 minutes T2T Calls + 500 T2T SMS free per month to One Tata Number anywhere in India. Additional usage charged @ 50p/min & 50p/SMS (Rs. 100/mth)

    Most Dialled Local

    500 minutes T2T Calls + 500 T2T SMS free per month to One Local Tata Number. Additional usage charged @ 25p/min & 25p/SMS (Rs.25/ mth )

I think Having STD calls as cheap as .25p/min that too on a very nominal rental of Rs 25/month is indeed very cheap.

  12. i really hope that after abolishing roaming charges the whole scenario of Indian telecom industry will change. Roaming charges should be abolished. after all India is one nation so why different tariffs ?

All telecom companies are capable of giving free intra circle calls atleast on their own network, & many provides it too under different schems. (for eg. rel fwp gives free onnet std on rental of 1500/-, tata gives onnet std at Rs.1 for 3 mins).

But these are only seasonal offers just meant to attract customers.

When this will become mendatory then operators will be forced to provide free roaming.

& this will be the biggest step by telecom industry to call India actually 'One Nation' not different business territories.

  13. I did that ...it looks good and all ...but its always another thing to get a review from someone who has actually used it! :good:

Hey, can you tell us how the Samsung and Tata handle texting? Can you send and recieve SMSes longer than 160 characters as ONE SMS ...like GSM phones?

well i tried LMS on tata Samsung Heronxt handset.Although the handset manual says that it supports LMS of upto 480 chars. But when i tried typing & as i exceeded 160th char, an alert appeared asking ' Do you want to continue on 2nd msg ?'.

I even tried to send a very long msg from my gsm to tata. my msg was 1000chars long which was splitted to 6 sms when received on tata. Hence my experience says that 'Tata Do Not Support LMS'
