  1. I have the 999 plan - you can get it from the guy that sold the device to you - RCUTSTAR999 is the name of the plan. The other plans are RCUTSTAR499 and RCUTSTAR649 MP3 Ringtones work perfect for me! - Infact I have a 2.8 MB file set as a ringtone. Also, I still havnt experienced any delay in ringing. About the Internet Connection for Push Mail - I use Push Mail too - The internet has to always stay on for this. However the best thing is that the MS and UTStarcom solution for push mail is much better than blackberry because it actually puts the data call in dormant mode while you actually dont get mails so you can receive calls at that time. However you are charged for the time - this is why I use the unlimited 999 plan for my use.
  2. cool - nice to see people experimenting with applications Try spb suite of software - they have some amazing tools like spb pocket plus, diary, time etc. Also for voice one of my favorites is Microsoft Voice Command - Here you can actually talk to your PPC - Say things like When is my next appointment and you get a voice response reading your outlook organizer - this is quite cool Ofcource - I also use the Adobe Acrobat Reader 4Talk - This is a P2P voice messenger over wifi - works great if you have more than 1 PPCs or a network of PPCs and laptops - here you can use this tool to talk to each other over the wifi network like a walkie talkie Splashblog - I use this for photoblogging - I post my photos as soon as i click them on the PPC directly on the web Also try the opera mini browser for windows mobile - quite nice again TCMP Core media player for multimedia (audio / video etc) SpbDVD for making DVDs play in PPC Mercora - cool application - with this you can play your playlist on your desktop PC at home from anywhere in the world - in my case - I have a 40 GB music collection - now i can access that from anywhere on CDMA in india and if you have wifi then even better SOTI Pocket Controller - super app for giving PPTs / trainings off your PPC directly (obviously through a PC/Laptop) try it out to see what i mean
  3. I havent worked with MAC OS and Windows Mobile integration before but I guess this tool should do you good (called missing sync) http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_windowsmobile.php You can select handset model as either of these UTStarcom PPC6700 UTStarcom XV6700 FYI - the OS on the phone is Windows Mobile 5.0 http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_wm_screenshots.html
  4. Guys, you can use the Pocket PC to connect to the internet on your laptop via BT or USB cable both. For BT: Just go the conn manager and enable BT and then go into BT settings and check on a box that says "Make this device discoverable". Then just enable your BT manager on the PC and search for devices - you will see the device - once you do so just configure DUN. Number is #777 and username and password will be your phone number. For USB Cable: See attached zip file for all instructions and drivers. This a Reliance network message on all their phones - unfortunately there is nothing you can do to disable it. However - I have noticed that you can continue to work without clicking on dismiss at that moment. usbmodem.zip
  5. On top of the phone next to the antenna you will see a slit with a dummy plastic card in it. You need to push that dummy in and it will pop out. You can keep that plastic dummy safe elsewhere and then insert the actual card in until you hear a click. The card will have to inserted only 1 perticular way - donot force it in if it is not going smoothly. The printed part should be facing towards you and the cut should be on the bottom right when inserting.
  6. HERE ARE THE INTERNET CONNECTION SETTINGS FOR OPEN ACCESS AND MAILS Video Tutorial Reliance Mobile World connection settings are with proxy are meant for accessing RWorld only. 9. I noticed - a lot of people had questions about the brand. Ive looked up and found something interesting, UTStarcom or formerly Audiovox is close to a 30 yr old brand in USA. Just that it was called AUDIOVOX earlier and sells only in North America. It is infact 1 of the only companies to sell to every North American carrier which really says a lot about the company. Just do a google for "UTStarcom PPC6700" - as it turns out UTStarcom sells the same pocket pc to Sprint, Verizon, Alltel, Cellular South and loads of other carriers in USA. Also worth a look is their range of devices UTStarcom has on offer in USA UTStarcom Data Devices Trust me this kept me drooling for a long time - Looks like Reliance good it spot on this time. UTStarcom seems to be specialized in CDMA Pocket PCs considering they sell in USA (which is basically all CDMA market) which makes them a perfect choice for Reliance as against other GSM based brands. GOOD CHOICE I'd say!
  10. Just adding to this - I got the chance to see the device first hand(it was on display at Mobile Asia in Delhi a few weeks ago) - you get a lot of freebies too - there is a Car Charger and a 256 MB mini SD card free with the device and also unlike the GSM version you get a desktop charging cradle inside the box. (So in a sense you get accesories worth close to 4-5K free) My cousin has been using the same UTStarcom PPC6700 with Sprint in USA for a few months now - its an amazing peice - finally i can get a piece of him too Also, I noticed that Reliance device comes with the latest AKU 2.2 addition to Windows Mobile 5.0 - so actually the OS is trully latest and for the first time Reliance is giving its customers something fresh and brand new the world over - Cheers! Another cool thing from Reliance - Check out the data plans on this phone - you get unlimited data for 999/month (with the kinds of data speeds available on CDMA getting unlimited data for 999 is an amazing offer) I think there are 2 other packages for 499 and 650/month also. Fast Internet on the move wherever! Its equivalent to carrying a laptop with a datacard in it.
