  1. RConnect & Linux

Hi guys, I tried this, and still no success. This time I'm not able to get beyond the following response: --> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.55 --> Initializing modem. --> Sending: ATZ --> Sending: ATQ0 ATQ0 OK --> Re-Sending: ATZ ATZ OK --> Initializing modem. --> Sending: ATZ --> Sending: ATQ0 ATQ0 OK --> Re-Sending: ATZ ATZ OK --> Initializing modem. --> Sending: ATZ --> Sending: ATQ0 ATQ0 OK --> Re-Sending: ATZ ATZ OK Thanks!
  2. RConnect & Linux

I'm having trouble setting up Rconnect to work on Ubuntu with the LG2030 handset. I've followed cracker's "Four easy steps to setup Rconnect on Linux," but when I run wvdial R, it tells me that the device is not found on /dev/ttyACM0. Later I randomly (i.e. following my own guesses) substituted ttyUSB0 for ttyACM0 in the wvdial.conf file, and was able to get a little further. I saw the red light on my Rconnect cable light up and the script tried to execute the ATDT command, but never succeeded in getting a connection. I appreciate any help u guys can give me. (Note: I'm connected through wireless hub to Airtel broadband at home, but want to use Rconnect through prepaid Reliance account when traveling). Here's what I did: (1) ran sudo dmesg with the following results: Linux version 2.6.15-27-386 (buildd@terranova) (gcc version 4.0.3 (Ubuntu 4.0.3-1ubuntu5)) #1 PREEMPT Fri Dec 8 17:51:56 UTC 2006 [17179569.184000] BIOS-provided physical RAM map: [17179569.184000] BIOS-e820: 0000000000000000 - 000000000009fc00 (usable) [17179569.184000] BIOS-e820: 000000000009fc00 - 00000000000a0000 (reserved) [17179569.184000] BIOS-e820: 00000000000e0000 - 00000000000eee00 (reserved) [17179569.184000] BIOS-e820: 00000000000eee00 - 00000000000ef000 (ACPI NVS) [17179569.184000] BIOS-e820: 00000000000ef000 - 0000000000100000 (reserved) [17179569.184000] BIOS-e820: 0000000000100000 - 000000001ef40000 (usable) [17179569.184000] BIOS-e820: 000000001ef40000 - 000000001ef50000 (ACPI data) [17179569.184000] BIOS-e820: 000000001ef50000 - 000000001f000000 (reserved) [17179569.184000] BIOS-e820: 00000000fec10000 - 00000000fec20000 (reserved) [17179569.184000] BIOS-e820: 00000000feda0000 - 00000000fedc0000 (reserved) [17179569.184000] BIOS-e820: 00000000ffb80000 - 00000000ffc00000 (reserved) [17179569.184000] BIOS-e820: 00000000fff00000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved) [17179569.184000] 0MB HIGHMEM available. 3. Lg2030 Won't Install With Third-party Cable

Sorry for the lack of details, guys. OK, here's what I did: (1) I discovered my buddy gave me a blank install CD (2) I went to reliance web site and downloaded the drivers for XP/LG2030 (3) I followed installation instructions (4) I ignored XP warnings about unsigned driver etc (5) Modem installed but wasn't recognized and I got an error message to that effect. (something like it wasn't installed properly and may not work, which it didn't) (6) I looked at the troubleshooting options, which essentially told me to uninstall and try again, which I have done repeatedly. Note: My specific problem isn't covered by the troubleshooter, though I did run into some of those problems as well on my retries. Specific errors: (1) It seems to have trouble installing the hardware, as when it detects the LG USB modem and asks me for the driver, it won't find the driver automatically and tells me that the directory with the driver has "no information about your device." (2) In the device manager, there is no converter device listed under USB devices (3) A new problem is that once the installation failed, my built-in modem for landline use also won't work, and my Com ports are no longer listed on device manager hope you can help! Jason For the steps I have already tried, please see the following discussion forum on this site Lg 2030 Usb Data Cable Cannot Install As Modem ranjan2001 28 283 16th July 2004 - 12:28 PM Last Post by: ranjan2001 I tried all the stuff that people advised Ranjan to try, without success.
  4. Hi guys, I have tried and tried to install R-Connect on my windows xp machine using the Reliance software. I'm using an LG 2030 phone and a data cable made by an outfit called HK 7000 (maybe that's the name of the cable) that I can't locate thru a web search. I followed the instructions given to a user with a similar problem (Ranjan2001) without success. Here's my theory: both Ranjan and I downloaded the drivers from Reliance, even though we're using third-party cables that automatically charge the phone while it's connected to the laptop. Maybe I need to get different drivers from the cable maker? (Note: the guy who passed the cable on to me gave me a blank CD by mistake, then left India). This is a real mystery, so please don't go thru all the rubbish about uninstalling and reinstalling etc. I tried the troubleshooting instructions before bothering to register for this site etc. Also, an open question: How come you can always find somebody with similar problems in discussion forums like this one, but it's such a b**ch to find somebody with a solution?
