Spoke to a supervisor - who sure as hell did not know what he was doing - and they confirmed that this plan is only for people who have received an SMS from reliance - and not for others. Looking at possibly terminating my numbers and migrating to prepaid going forward. cheers karki

Try backing up your contacts - and formatting the phone.. Without signing into google services / restoring via HTC sync ... try to receive a few texts (before contact DB is updated) and then see if it helps. It could be an error with contact names having non-supported ascii chars in it. Just a passing thought cheers karki

Guess the 25 Rs SMS pack from reliance and 1p calling plans seems to be nailing Airtel. I've already migrated 3 of my accounts to reliance from airtel - and will do so for the others too ... the only thing that keeps me jostled on airtel at the moment is the unlimited internet for 199 that i have on !

Not really... Aircel launced 1000 Rs plan with 1000 SMS + 75 Rs topup for 1500 additional local and national SMS in mumbai. Airtel does not really plan on countering that
