  1. cant believe this shi* just came to know abt this "Under the Home 500 plan, consumers will be able to surf the net at 256 kbps, can download or upload matter up to 1 GB and get one mail account free with a space of 5 MB." http://cities.expressindia.com/fullstory.php?newsid=113607 middle finger to BSNL
  2. Both Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) will launch the Broadband Services through out the country from 15th of January, next year. While MTNL will launch the services in Delhi and Mumbai, BSNL will do it from Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad on the same day. source: http://pib.nic.in/release/release.asp?relid=5801 now its confirmed that we'l get 256kbps speed for rs.500 a month. now we have to see wat would be the download limit
  3. Who Offers Fastest Net Connectivity?

hyderabad 800 per month 48kbps dl & 32kbps ul speed unlimited bandwidth provider: www.digitalcablenet.com (anyone know abt this isp? does it do business in ur city?)
  4. check this news http://www.indiantelevision.com/headlines/.../nov/nov185.htm according to the article, NETWAY is quite FAR from now. i guess we put put a fullstop to this thread as Netway is NOT gonna rollout in Oct-Nov according to that article All we can talk abt is reliance broadband now
  5. reliance's broadband plan is has unlimited data transfer wonder wats up with bsnl
  6. now this is a great news No registration charges i guess .. cos we already have a copper cable for bsnl phone..may be theyl provide another short cable for internet for no charge .. lets see and abt the third point, googled up for ADSL CPE cost found this link http://www.techtree.com/techtree/jsp/shows...oryid=5047&s=ln which had this to say "Other than this, while taking up a new connection, users need to pay Rs.500 for the CPE (Customer Premise Equipment)" its abt MTNL though .. and article dated march 2k4 .. so i guess it wont b more than 500 Now im sure the monthly rates for bsnl broad wont b more than wat we r paying now.. im paying 800 p.m for 48kbps connection but i wonder if theyre gonna put a download limit what do u undertsand by these two : "# To provide a means to bill for the aforesaid services by either time-based or volume-based billing. It shall provide the customer with the option to select the services through web server # To provide both pre-paid and post paid broadband services" theyre from the bsnl link given above wonder if those two points imply that the billing wud be based on volume of download. any idea? and ya .. moderators pls dont move this thread to some other location .. even though this is not abt netway, its helping us share info .. so in the intrest of users, i hope u wont move this thread to another place
  7. Dd Direct+ Faqs

thanks .. that was very informative
  8. dont know abt netway but for broadband, http://www.relianceinfo.com/Infocomm/Broad..._advantage.html this is mentioned in the above link " Flat monthly bill, no renewal coupon or additional usage charge. " i guess no additional usage charge = no download limit .. rite?
  9. ya it is .. i pay rs.800 pm for a 48kbps connection. jus calld both brdband and netway numbers .. they both r separate products .. and broadband isnt commercially launched yet .. no info abt netway only 4 brdband, its 700pm for 128kbps ... it means netway which includes brdband, cable tv and etc will b costlier rite? lets wait n see wats in 4 us but one certain good thing abt rel helpline is the girl who tals to u. sweet voice lol. i guess il have a gud time with her until netway rolls out
  10. good news .. where do u live zeus? anyone from hyderabad here? yesterday, i was vexed with my 48kbps constant download speed, and i called my own ISP to ask if theyre planning to increase the speed. surprisingly, i got a 'yes' from them .. they have a meeting in the 1st week of november and theyl decide the increase in speed etc., my isp never even thought abt increasing the speed bfore.. i pulled some more info from them and i came to know that theyre planning to increase speed to b on par with reliance and bsnl. i asked em when reliance was rolling out and he said may b in december on the eve of dhirubhai's b'day or d'day(im not sure which one it is) one more hint towards an early launch and ZEUS, did u ask them if theres gonna be a monthly download(bandwidth) limit??
  11. 400 to 600 fine .. but wat if the monthly download(bandwidth) limit is 500mb or something .. wud b worthless, all we can do is watch tv channels thru the connection thats it
  12. DOES THIS MEAN WE HAVE TO WAIT TILL MARCH 2K5 FOR NETWAY http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/899189.cms an excerpt from this article " Though RIC sticks to the mid to late-2005 date for the much-awaited roll-out, sources said the soft launch could happen much earlier. RIC officials have already begun talks with local cable operators to distribute the service. " i guess the soft launch wont reach many people.. and the ufll launch willhappen not bfore march2k5 ------------------------------ and this one abt BSNL http://www.ciol.com/content/news/mgas/2004/104102502.asp " Sinha said the growth in customer additions for wireline phones was negative in the first six months of this business year but he expected the rate to turn positive by the end of March as customers switched to its new broadband services. " does this mean BSNL wont roll out broadband till next march? all this tell me i shud wait till next march .. but i wonder how sumit got the info that irl launch in oct-nov
  13. ya tanveer "Meanwhile, Reliance Infocom, is expected to start providing its broadband service to subscribers post-Diwali. A senior official informed that the service is currently in its preliminary stages and that they are currently making advance booking. ‘‘Initially, we will provide only Internet service. Post-Diwali, we will be able to state what added features will be offered,’’ said an official." thats wat was in the article. but strange, no other news source made this point. only expressindia.
  14. i just called reliance helpline 30335555 got the number in this thread she said there is no intimation abt when its gonna roll out. i asked if its this yr or early next yr. she said they just dont know. seems like itl take time .. so wat abt this sumit123? r u sure its gonna rollout this oct/nov?
  15. a major QUESTION MARK - will there be a monthly limited bandwidth? i mean, will the downloads b limited? unfortunately i think they will b.. even in the broadband policy, while defining 'broadband', the download/bandwidth limit was not taken into acount. il choose which ever package gives me unlimited download. otherwise, having a 40kbps unlimited download connection(which i have now) for 30 days is equal to having a limited download 256kbps connection for 5 or 6 days. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF NETWAY IS GONNA ROLLOUT THIS OCT-NOV as said by sumit ??
