  1. ^ @Fevin Does the camera slot align correctly?
  2. Faced with the same dilemma, I finally chose Optimus One over Ace. The reason being - I am not completely dependent on phone camera; for occasional 2-3 snaps 3MP will suffice. and second 200MHz of increased clock speed may not result in highly improved performance. Also O1 can be safely over clocked to 700MHz I read, if needed!! What I feel is O1 is worth every penny for its price as an entry level android. gaming may not be its strong point. Angry birds did work but not as smooth as on high-end phones. The only bad point (which is common to all androids ) - battery!! Getting 12-13 hours if usage is high (and on 3G).
  3. Reliance Launches "My Statement" Service For Prepaid

  6. While trying to reduce my call rates their site says "USE FRC-56/ WITHIN 7 DAYS THROUGH C-TOP UP, BRINGS YOUR 3G PLAN AS ALL @ 49 IN GENERAL PLAN" What does 'C' mean? Does recharging through bank or those online websites qualify as C-Top Up? and which one to choose 'Top-up' or 'Recharge' from the site?
  7. I request our DoT and Mr.Sibal to please look into inter-circle number portability on a priority basis.
  8. Update: Today all the problems I was facing after porting to BSNL has been solved. - No more problems of receiving calls/sms from Reliance. - Outgoing SMS working. - Full 3G network access. So in this case, entire process took 12 days (7 days if excluding saturday, sunday and 26th Jan) !!
  9. Continued from post #41 Current Status - Incoming calls problem solved for all networks except Reliance. Calls/SMS still not coming from Reliance. - Unable to send SMS from BSNL. Message Center number is correct. - Phone not latching on to 3G network. It shows "3G" momentarily and switches back to "E" - Unable to recharge. Because number not recognized by BSNL!!! Today is the 11th day after submitting porting request. Edit : Continued in post #69
  10. Hello Friends, My experience of porting my number from vodafone to BSNL 3G. Reason for porting - To be on a 3G network that is not only available in cities but also in smaller towns. I have been using BSNL 3G from the day it was launched and am happy to see their coverage where private players may take some time to start or may not even think profitable!! So decided to port one of numbers to BSNL. Grievances of existing operator - No 3G spectrum for Vodafone in my circle. They may start 3G with tie-ups with other operators, but frankly lost hope on tariffs from them. Process Timeline - 21-Jan Morning - Sent PORT Request, Instantly recieved UPC, Submitted CAF+MNP form and 120(FRC) at BSNL 21-Jan Evening - Acknowledgement SMS from Vodafone. 27-Jan 6PM - Porting approved by donor. Time of porting-Midnight. 28-Jan - Donor SIM deactivated at around 0015HRS. 28 Jan 6AM - Inserted sparkling new BSNL SIM into the phone, waited for "3G" to appear. But "SIM Card Registration Failed" 7AM - same!! 9AM - same!! 10AM - same!! ... 12 noon - SIM Registered on to BSNL. But where is "3G", I can only see "E"(though the plan says 3G)!! and the biggest shock, I can make outgoing calls, but no incoming - getting "Number doesn't exist". Later noticed that calls from BSNL and TD is coming but not from other operators (Checked with RCOM and Uninor). I think its the delay in updating the LRN database. Overall the experience was not great as it should have been but I WAS expecting such delay in this process and hence was not porting my primary number(Thank God!!). But such delay (when the promised no service period is 2 hours) may not be acceptable to people who are porting their primary number. And as I write this, still no incoming or SMS coming through from many operators. I will keep you all updated once the problem is solved. Edit : Continued in post #56

  13. ^ Won't the existing SIM stop working?
  14. ^ once documents are submitted to your recipient operator, you have to place cancellation request within 24 hours.
  15. "The Big gets Bigger" seems to be working here. Some what expected to be like this at-least in the initial phase; people seems to be getting on to networks based on the brand, jingle or ad rather than network quality. Its good to see Tata GSM and Aircel getting a good number of port-ins. But why is there no mention of MTS in this article?
  16. ^ you can get the UPC and not go to a new service provider. The UPC will expire after 15 days and you can continue on your current network.
  17. ^ Its an open offer. I remember seeing banner stating the same. and here's the link http://www.mtsindia.in/mtsreebok1/
