  1. BSNL 3G Speed

oh.. i am wrong they do support speeds upto 3.6Mbps Please check whether 3G is enabled on your BSNL sim
  2. BSNL 3G Speed

AFAIK, Idea netsetter doesn't support UMTS. Hence you get only EGPRS speeds.
  3. CDMA 2000 1X Advanced, DO Advanced

^^^ SVDO --> Simultaneous Voice and Data Optimised After reading through some other forums it seams SVDO is a handset feature and not a network feature. CDMA is already the ideal choice for data and if voice and data together becomes a reality, there is no competition till LTE is a reality,
  4. CDMA 2000 1X Advanced, DO Advanced

Any fresh information on if and when RCOM/TATA is going 1X Advanced and SVDO?
  5. Subscriber additions for the month of August 2010 is out. Airtel added 2.03m while vodafone added 2.3m. The great news is BSNL and Uninor added 2.29m and 2.2m respectively in august. 1 2
  6. well... It is a good move considering that WiMax is the current technology and RIL can hopefully start services towards the end of this year around the same time 3G also starts. The only doubt is whether the current WiMax standard is afford-ably upgradeable to LTE?
  7. wonderful plan for frequent roaming. Any similar voucher for prepaid?
  8. some good news on MNP front ... Telecordia's issue should be resolved before the MNP deadline, else we can expect another delay in implementation
  9. Reliance Slashes Data Rates for NetConnect 1x in UP

I think this is for just 1X speed. In that case this is totally uncompetitive compared to Tata Docomo's offer of 6GB for less than 100. and at present Tata Docomo's speed is better than RCDMA 1X.
  10. A small giveaway from my side to this community. I have 4 Coupon Codes for Spice Jet flights. 11. yay. at last some good news on 3G front. now hoping for good news on MNP on 31st OCT.
  12. well... with so much corruption in govt, how can one be so sure that data will not be used by a third party(like competitor as in your example)? All this security measures like monitoring BB, banning prepaid services are just an excuse from the govt. who is terribly failing to provide real security(in form of border/coastal security and internal police force)to its citizens. Take the case of 26/11 attack. The failure was at providing timely action. No force at the site instantly. No proper weapons to conquer the terrorists. I believe instead of spending energy and time on issues of BB, govt. should divert money to increase physical security infrastructure.
  13. Reliance SMS Blackout Days

RCOM is going just opposite to what it was in last year. Hope the benefits are not snatched from old customers atleast.
  14. Defence refuses to free 3G spectrum for CDMA players The defence forces have again rejected the demand to release third generation (3G) spectrum for CDMA operators thereby ending the possibility of the government carrying out auctions of these airwaves. Reliance Communications (RCOM), Tata Teleservices and Sistema Shaym offer mobile services on the CDMA platform. The recently concluded 3G auctions, which enables telcos to offer high-end services such as ultra-fast internet, interactive gaming and videoconferencing on mobiles, were held in the 2.1 GHz frequency band. GSM operators migrate to this band for offering 3G services. The government garnered over Rs 67,000 crore from the 3G airwaves auction. But RCOM and Tatas, which offer mobile services on the dual technologies — both GSM and CDMA — are unlikely to be impacted significantly as they have bagged 3G frequencies in many circles in the recently concluded auctions. These companies are currently in talks with other telcos for roaming agreements that will enable them to offer GSM-based 3G services on a pan-India basis. Besides, they also enjoy the unique advantage of having the provision to shift some of their CDMA customers who require 3G services to the 2.1 GHz platforms (GSM). CDMA companies can offer 3G services in the three frequency bands — 450 MHz, 800 MHz and 1,900 MHz. They currently offer services on the 800 MHz band which has been largely exhausted, ruling out the possibility of using these airwaves for the auction. Telecom regulator Trai had recommended that 3G auctions for CDMA be held in 450 MHz and 800 MHz bands, while also adding that the 1,900 MHz frequency band could also be used after the DoT verifies the technical feasibility of the co-existence of this band. Tests by the CDMA industry lobby AUSPI and the Department of Telecom (DoT) had revealed that 1,900 MHz was feasible and that 3G services could be offered on these airwaves without interfering with the operations of GSM players. The DoT had earlier decided against carrying out auctions in the 450 MHz frequency band for two reasons — this band is currently occupied by state agencies, and internationally, this has not been allotted for 3G services. The defence forces during a series of meets with representatives from the communications ministry rejected the latter’s demands to vacate spectrum in the 1,900 MHz band, officials with direct knowledge of the development said. Instead, the armed forces sought exclusive rights to frequencies in these bands. DoT sources said the department has rejected the defence demands intensifying the ongoing standoff between both ministries. As per documents viewed by ET, the DoT has also told the armed forces that the 1,900 MHz band could not be given for defence use as it represented “the only growth path for CDMA operators and had already been allocated for auction”. It is also learnt that during the meets the defence forces had refused to commit to releasing 10 MHz of 2G spectrums, the frequencies on which all mobile services are delivered today. As per an MoU that both ministries had entered into last year, the defence was slated to release 10 MHz of 2G spectrum in phases, based on the progress of the alternate communication network that BSNL and MTNL are jointly building for the forces. The DoT has sought immediate release on the ground that 90% work on this alternate fibre backbone has been completed. Source ------------------------------------------- The future of CDMA players hangs in balance, particularly MTS with no GSM spectrum for any further growth.
  15. Am I getting 3G Services?

not possible. they are yet to receive spectrum from govt. It might just be a glitch in the speed monitoring software. 200kbps which is constant is edge speed.
  16. ^^^ Tried online Top-up for Rs.64 on RGSM(Kerala). Received Rs.0.01 in main balance and Rs.66.34 in Promo2 Balance. But Promo TT has validity only till 25/08/2010
  17. How to use internet on laptop using LG 6300?

There is no need for installing drives when using bluetooth to connect phone to laptop. The phone's modem will be detected as a 'standard bluetooth modem' and you can create dialer using this modem. I have tried it using LG RD6600.
  18. How to use internet on laptop using LG 6300?

Connect the phone to the laptop via bluetooth. Create a dial-up connection from network settings Use your mobile number 93XXXXXXXX as username and password Enter the number to be dialed as #777 you are online. Cost Rs.0.60p/minute
  19. Suggest A Cdma Phone

Friends, Please suggest the CHEAPEST CDMA phone(Not dual sim) available for use with Reliance. The phone will be used just for Voice calls(most important) and sms only. Nothing else. Is there any OMH option in entry level so that I can swap RUIMs easily for other operators too? Edit: Even though posted in LG forum, I am open to others too.
  20. Source Bharti objects to Sri Lankan mobile phone prices COLOMBO: Bharti Airtel has petitioned Sri Lanka's Supreme Court to stop a new minimum mobile phone price plan announced by the telecom regulator, an official said Sunday. The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission on Thursday fixed a floor price of two Sri Lankan rupees (0.2 US cents) per minute for outgoing calls on mobile networks, after two years of stiff competition plunged the industry into massive losses. The regulator said mobile phone operators reported a combined loss of 23 billion rupees (200 million dollars) in 2009, for the first time since cellular phones were introduced to Sri Lanka in 1989. Airtel, the fifth entrant in Sri Lanka's five-player mobile market, believes the floor price was against consumer interest, its Corporate Communications chief Yohan Munaweera said. Petitioning the Supreme Court on Friday, Airtel said a floor price "will only help the market leader and maintain the status quo at the expense of the consumer." Prior to the watchdog's ruling on Thursday, the cost of making mobile phone calls had fallen to 25 Sri Lankan cents (0.0022 US cents) per minute, the regulator said. In its petition, Airtel, which began operations in January 2009, said unless a new player offered cheaper call rates "any newcomer will not be able to attract subscribers." Besides Airtel, the island's 15-million user mobile market is mainly shared between Malaysia's Dialog Axiata, Dubai's Etisalat, Mobitel Lanka and Hong Kong's Hutchison Whampoa. The telecom regulator Anusha Palpita was not immediately available for comment, but he told AFP last Thursday that losses made it difficult for mobile operators to invest in new technologies to expand their network. Regional technology think-tank LIRNEasia said while a floor price could steady cashflows, the absence of a competition regulator had forced the government to step in. A number of Sri Lankan mobile users own multiple SIM (Subscriber Indentity Module) cards, either from the same operator or from rival operator, to make use of discount call packages. The regulator's ruling only affects new packages issued from last Thursday. "Since the minimum prices affect new customers, we think it will create a grey market for SIMs," said Helani Galpaya, Chief Operating Officer of LIRNEasia. ------------------------------------------------- see how Airtel is crying against minimum price in Sri Lanka as they are the fifth operator there... and here, being the leader they try to prevent competition.
  21. Its not dreaming, It actually happened with Landlines. See how people have stopped using landlines as mobiles are becoming cheaper. The reverse can also happen!
  22. Samsung Galaxy I899 Launched In Reliance CDMA

The phone is already available in many web worlds in Kerala. They are selling it only at MRP which is Rs.19990. But there seems to be no good deal if we go for Prepaid. After 30days there is only default plan which is charged in per minute. Can we use HSD recharges in prepaid?
  23. Suggest A Cdma Phone

one big thank you to all for your valuable suggestions. As most of you pointed out, I chose LG rather than ZTE/Classics. Just bought LG RD3540 for Rs.1050 from Web-world.
  24. and regarding Sunil Mittal's comments, I feel, Mr.Mittal is trying to psychologically tamper the minds of new players who won 3G spectrum so that at least on 3G front these new comers follow incumbents pricing. He's just trying to artificially hold the prices high, see the recent Fair Usage Limits by Airtel in broadband; 5/8/15/25 GBs- joke!
