Vodafone Essar, which had 97.2 million subscribers as at end-February, becomes the third mobile operator in India to have topped 100 million subscribers after larger rivals Bharti Airtel and Reliance communications. ohh i missed it, But in which circle they are decresed their subsciber sorry frinds, NEWS article is not giving truth In NOV they were having 3037147 subscriber NOV 2708706 DEC 3042741 ( add 3.34 JAN: 3256032(addition of 2.14 lakh) FEB: 3502491(2.46 lakh) That shows they are slower in monthly additon, And not NEGATIVE growth Same was happened wirh RGSM/DOCOMO Now it's time to get settled down to stabled addiiton of Appox 2.5L subscriber per motth And UNINOR/ STEL will also get slows down once their time will finish. I think major looser is RCOM in spite of Large product base gsm/cdma/ data card /hello- their addition is just 2.8 They have to spend lot of money to maintian all infrasture and not getting new subscriber, REALLY looser Some thing is wrong here. RCOM's addition is 2.8 Million and other numbers you have given in Lakhs. right??

^^^ well ... there is nothing disastrous in choosing CDMA. It may have saved millions of dollars in roll-out cost for MTS. Also there is a huge opportunity through data business. and... once the M&A guidelines are set, MTS can acquire a standalone GSM player(any guess who??) to become a PAN-India CDMA-GSM operator.

you are right. But more than tariff changes, I think 'CDMA' is hurting their growth the most. It is unimaginable for a new operator in "the fastest growing mobile market" to show negative growth.
