i would rather prefer WD or IOmega's media players to this bluray player.. this sony bluray boasts of just bluray + divx compatibility but considering the WD player i get the following video formats.. -MPEG1/2/4, WMV9, AVI (MPEG4, Xvid, AVC), H.264, MKV, MOV (MPEG4, H.264) Is it that this bluray player doesnt support these formats or is it just not mentioned... and maybe its for the guys with the hyper-expensive plasmas and LEDs

yes.. besides when we increase the earpiece volume, the phone vibrates with the speaker and it feels sick to continue the conversation..

Another Apple Iphone 4G Leaked In Vietnam
faizone posted a topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Source Pre-production iPhone 4G device carries Apple A4 SoC and looks more finished Apple is in a soup, again! Yet another fourth generation iPhone handset that was leaked out was displayed by Vietnamese site - Taoviet. A brand new 16GB iPhone 4G was flaunted in front of a camera and then pictures of its teardown were uploaded on the Vietnamese forum. Despite the whole lost/stolen iPhone 4G drama that took place last month, this is yet another incident of an iPhone 4G device leak. It seems like a pre-production iPhone 4G unit, since a pair of screws at the bottom of the device have been removed, the back panel of the iPhone 4G unit contains XXX for the model number and FCC ID number, and carries a 16GB label. The teardown of the iPhone 4G unit exposed the Apple A4 System on Chip and also text N90, which is its rumored internal codename. This phone doesn't have any iPhone OS loaded on it but runs the "Bonfire" test. Check out the photos -

getting 6275 panels was a big hassle some time back but then things started to look up... With nokia winding up its cdma segment, it would be tough to get panels for 6275/65 in the short run... Even the panels that we get dont seem to fit right even after shelling out close to 500-600 bucks!

HSPA, HSDPA, HSUPA: whats the difference?? The moment we decide to step into 3G enabled world these terms are thrown at us.. HSPA, HSDPA, HSUPA.. What do they really mean and how are they really related? Evolution of Mobile Broadband One of the most important features of a 3G mobile service is the high speed data access. As the market expands, requirement also increases, thereby bringing in the necessity for new standards. Most of the data access traffic is downlink oriented or just like in an internet access biased towards the end user. Improving this will result in a better user experience. HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) is a 3G mobile communications protocol in which the networks can offer higher data transfer speeds and capacity. Currently HSDPA deployments support down-link speeds of 1.8, 3.6, 7.2 and 14.0 Mbit/s. Its true that most of the traffic is downlink oriented, still, there are a few applications that will benefit from an improved uplink. Typical examples are large pictures, movies etc. The 3G service which provides an enhanced uplink is the HSUPA (High-Speed Uplink Packet Access). So whats HSPA then? HSDPA and Enhanced Uplink are together known as High Speed Packet Access (HSPA)! Another term you might encounter in the near future is HSPA+ (also called Evolved HSPA). This is an upcoming wireless broadband standard which is expected to provide data rates up to 42 Mbps in the downlink and 11 Mbps in the uplink. Now we are better equipped to handle the average cellphone salesman who uses these jargon just to confuse us

Prepaid plans have become highly volatile.. Companies like RCom etc use these wonder tariff plans as publicity stunts... People who understand market dynamics look through the bait but there are people who get caught unawares thinking that prepaid addons/plans are there forever... Topping on that... RGsm's network is not that good either..

Femtocells... The Future Of Cellular Connectivity..
faizone posted a topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Femtocells are sold by a Mobile Network Operator (MNO) to its residential end-users or enterprise customers. A femtocell is typically the size of a residential gateway or smaller, and connects into the end-user's broadband line. Integrated femtocells (which include both a DSL router and femtocell) also exist. Once plugged in, the femtocell connects to the MNO's mobile network, and provides extra coverage in a range of typically 30 to 50 meters for residential femtocells (depending on the existing coverage and output power — usually 20 mW which is five times less than a WiFi router). From an end-users' perspective it is plug and play, there is no specific installation or technical knowledge required — anyone can install a femtocell at home. The end-user must then declare which mobile phone numbers are allowed to connect to his/her femtocell, usually via a web interface provided by the MNO [1]. This only needs to be done once. When these mobile phones arrive under coverage of the femtocell, they switch over from the macrocell (outdoor) to the femtocell automatically. Most MNOs provide means for the end-user to know this has happened, for example by having a different network name appear on the mobile phone. All communications will then automatically go through the femtocell. When the end-user leaves the femtocell coverage (whether in a call or not), his phone hands over seamlessly to the macro network. Femtocells require specific hardware, so existing WiFi or DSL routers cannot be upgraded to a femtocell. Once installed in a specific location, most femtocells have protection mechanisms so that a location change will be reported to the MNO. Whether the MNO allows femtocells to operate in a different location depend on the MNO's policy. In any case international location change of a femtocell is not possible. [edit] Benefits for end-users The main benefits for an end-user are the following: * "5 bar" coverage when there is no existing signal or poor coverage * Higher capacity, which is important if the end-user uses data services on his/her mobile phone * Depending on the pricing policy of the MNO, special tariffs at home can be applied for calls placed under femtocell coverage * For enterprise users, having femtos instead of DECT or WiFi dual mode phones enables them to have a single phone, so a single contact list etc These currently are provided by some telcos in Europe and APAC. Lets see when India gets it!!! Poor signals would be a thing of the past... -
Femtocells... The Future Of Cellular Connectivity..
faizone replied to faizone's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Development on the CDMA front Qualcomm, ZTE partner on femtocell tech Source ZTE Corp. has reached an agreement with Qualcomm Inc. to develop femtocell technology and use its Femtocell Station Modem chipset to develop CDMA2000 femtocell products. The unprecedented growth in mobile data consumption, driven by smart phones and other data intensive devices, has created the need for improved coverage and increased data throughput for subscribers. Up to 70 per cent of wireless data originates indoors and femtocells allow operators to target areas where the solution is needed. Qualcomm's FSM platform features flexible and fully integrated SoC solutions consisting of base band, RF and power management ICs coupled with commercial-grade software, resulting in femtocells with low power consumption and high levels of integration. This technology will allow operators to improve coverage, add capacity, increase data throughput and enhance the end user's wireless experience while reducing operating costs in supporting mobile broadband applications. "Femtocells improve the mobile data experience for users while driving down the cost per bit for operators," said Ed Knapp, senior vice president of marketing, Qualcomm. "We are pleased to be working with ZTE in their efforts to bring femtocell products to market." "ZTE serves the world's top mobile operators based on our ability to consistently deliver high-quality and high-capacity network performance," said Li Jian, general manager, CDMA product line, ZTE. "Our ongoing relationship with Qualcomm will enable us to bring leading-edge femtocell technology and small base station products to market. We look forward to collaborating with them on this technology." Qualcomm's FSM platform supports the full range of 3GPP and 3GPP2 modem features contained within the base band SoC while also integrating network listen, GPS, crypto acceleration, Ethernet and a host CPU to support all protocol stack and radio network controller functions within the access point. The integrated RF device features multiple receiver channels that enable traffic, beacon GPS and network listen functions to operate simultaneously. The RF devices support all major wireless bands for both 3GPP and 3GPP2, and the FSM platform features innovative interference management techniques between femtocells and the macro network. The target markets for the ZTE-developed product are mainly in North America and China, helping operators supply better services to home users and enterprise users. -

Blackberry-Like Device Was Predicted 100 Years Ago
faizone posted a topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Source BlackBerry-like Device was Predicted 100 Years Ago Famous inventor and physicist Nikolas Tesla had, over 100 years ago, predicted that there would be a hand-held device that would be used to communicate and be able to send messages across the world. Way back in 1909, Tesla predicted that one day, it would be possible to transmit wireless messages all over the world using a hand-held device. The device would be simple to operate as well. He had added that the device would help a businessman in New York to wirelessly communicate with his colleagues in far way London - almost instantaneously. Tesla had said all this in an interview to The New York Times. It had also appeared in the October 1909 issue of Popular Mechanics. Almost 101 years later, the interview was referenced by the magazine's current technology editor Seth Porges. Looks like the brilliant scientist had the vision to predict technologies that would make waves - a century later! -
Docomo.. Bb Service Activation Problem (Nightmare)...
faizone posted a topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I am going through a nightmare activating blackberry services on my 8830 on Docomo (prepaid).. When i had initially checked, the CC told me that i just need to send the sms "SUB BB 85" ( for the weekly mail+IM only plan) to 121. Did that around 1.30pm yesterday.. and got a reply saying "Aapke javaab keliye dhanyavaad. Aapka din mangalmay ho." They had said it will get activated within 4hours max but nothing happened.. called 121 and BB tech support 1800 number many times but nobody was ready to help!!! they are simply passing the buck to each other. Finally i sent the same sms again at 9.30pm yesterday.. got the same reply.. "Aapke javaab keliye dhanyavaad. Aapka din mangalmay ho." Woke up today morning.. still no sign of activation. I called CC and have raised a complaint. They gave me a complaint number. They have said it will be resolved by 11am tomorrow.. Do u people think that i will finally get this done.. please share if u have had similar experiences.... -

Source Sony Ericsson, Motorola Loose, RIM Gains International Data Corp. (IDC), a market intelligence firm, has released its quarterly statistics pertaining to the worldwide mobile phone market. According to the report, Nokia continues to dominate the worldwide mobile phone market, followed by Samsung and LG. There hasn't been much of a difference in the table when it comes to the top three players. However, things begin to change when we go further down. At number 4 is RIM- which for the first time since its existence, has made it to the top 5 list. At number five is Sony Ericsson, which has seen a drop in its sales. RIM has managed to sell 10.6 million BlackBerry devices in the first quarter of 2010 - more than the total number of phones sold by Sony Ericsson and Motorola. As for Motorola, once the once largest maker of mobile phones, it now finds itself out of the top 5 list for the first time. RIM plans to launch BlackBerry 6 OS later this year and will try to strengthen its grip even further. The report also states that the worldwide mobile phone market grew 21.7 percent in the first quarter of 2010. Nokia leads with 107.8 million phones sold. Samsung follows with 64.3 million units sold, and LG takes the third place with 27.1 million handsets shipped. Overall, 294.9 million mobile phones were sold around the world during the first quarter of 2010 - a 21.7 percent increase over the first quarter of 2009.
