What Are Your Views On Per Sec Billing
SUDYEcaZ posted a topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I really don't think per sec billing will stay for long.. not unless termination charge is phased out or done on sec basis.... its just the way to add the churn.... this churn is assumed to move within a year for a better offer... so the companies can claim such offer for lifetime.... RCOM-CEP, just a way to add churn and add subscriber to get additional spectrum.. once they got required addition, no good offer comming up..... Airtel/voda.. never comes with such offers, they believe in retaining high usage customer and thus both of them enjoy highest ARPU in the industry Same goes true for Aircel... they can never come with pay per sec billing in Tamil Nadu...or in circles where they operate since long -

Tata Docomo Launches Pay-per-character Diet-sms
SUDYEcaZ posted a topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Tata Docomo, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices, on Tuesday launched a short messaging service (SMS), called Diet-SMS, which enables customers to pay on a per-character basis. "The cost of any Diet-SMS will be only one paise per character used, thereby providing complete value to customers," Tata Docomo said in a statement. The company, frontrunner in the pay-per-use business model in the mobile telephony segment, will not charge for space between words. Tata Docomo has launched services in eight telecom circles and a countrywide rollout is expected to be completed this year. "In all of the eight circles where we have launched our GSM services, we made the promise of introducing path-breaking innovative products and services, and never-before tariff options. Diet-SMS is another way of fulfilling that promise," said Tata Docomo president Deepak Gulati. "We broke the per-minute pricing paradigm for voice calls when we launched our services. With Diet-SMS, we are doing it again, this time on the SMS front." -

Dot Rings Mobile Number Portability
SUDYEcaZ replied to coolrajiv's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
Mobile number portability not before Dec 31: DoT NEW DELHI: The government on Thursday extended to December 31 implementation of mobile number portability, a facility allowing subscribers to retain their numbers even after changing service providers. The 100-day delay in the scheduled execution of the MNP is attributed to operators' inability to upgrade their network as well as to the delay on part of regulator TRAI to come out with tariff for the service. "The implementation of MNP is under progress. However, this required customisation and upgradation of the existing network to be capable of providing the MNP service. Certain technical and commercial issues related to it are also being resolved. All this requires considerable time and effort. Therefore, it has been decided by the Department of Telecom to extend the date of implementation of MNP in Metro Category A service areas to December 31, 2009 in the first phase", DoT said in a statement. Accordingly the service is likely to be available by end of 2009 to begin with in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, it said. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had issued guidelines for for its implementation in the country in August last year. -

Updated: 3G Auction completed after 34 days of bidding
SUDYEcaZ replied to Arun's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Just 1 Slot for CDMA??? Wat is the future for Ev-DO service offered by TATA/RELIANCE/BSNL in some circles?? I personally feel that 3G will be gr8 flop in India, Just look at the Subscriber No of BSNL 3G? If they dont get subscriber the service cost will definately high to recover the bidding money?? I wont prefer a video call which is 3 or 4 times the normal charge? nor will i prefer Mobile download charges of 1p/kb, when i get a Ev-do service for 1k for 10Gb -
should I do that??? i was just using it as secondary no??
-
I had taken a R-SIM under CEP.. validity was till 10th june or so i guess.... i was out of town for a month so did not used the no from may-july... then i found out that my No has been alloted to some1 else... n now my sim is getting registration fail

Tata Docomo Postpaid Plans
SUDYEcaZ replied to iammanuarora's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Have a doubt why Tata-Docomo is just giving 50 STD mins as top up . Is 50 STD mins = 150 Local mins ? Even if we calculate STS at 2p per sec, it should have been 75 STD min. Maybe the STD charges will still go up in future This implies that in near future, the STD tariff will be 3p/sec or a whooping Rs1.80/min...?? Or it might imply that local call charge will fall further like local = 1p/3s n STD = 1p/1s -
reduce the resolution and try

4g Operators Will Need At Least 10mhz: Dot
SUDYEcaZ replied to savramesh's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
4G threatens to spoil Govt's 3G party NEW DELHI: As India dithers over a policy on 3G mobile telephony, US' Motorola wants to test the next level (4G) that could pour cold water on the government's plan to raise Rs 35,000 crore from selling radio frequency for the existing version. Motorola, which has tested the new next generation technology, called Long-Term Evolution (LTE), is all set to start trial services of 4G that can offer 70 MB per second (Mbps) download speeds on a mobile phone by the end of this year. The company is likely to approach the Department of Telecom (DoT) for trial spectrum, Subhendu Mohanty, a senior executive with Networks Mobility Business, Motorola India, told PTI. This development may, however, prompt operators planning to launch 3G telephony to wait and watch, thus spoiling the government's plan to mop up a whopping Rs 35,000 crore from auction of 3G spectrum. Asked whether Motorola is talking to operators, Mohanty said: "We would like to have trial with the players but the technology can also be tested on our own systems." In fact, the DoT is also understood to have prepared a concept paper on the 4G and the issue may be discussed at length in the days to come. Besides Motorola, other telecom vendors are also in the process of trials, industry sources said. MORE Motorola has become the first telecom vendor to complete throughput up to 70 Mbps, he said, adding that the LTE technology can be offered in 2.1-2.3 MHz spectrum band and the DoT is looking at the availability of this frequency. On how superior and different the LTE would be from the 3G technology, Mohanty said the applications are growing very fast and with the data and video download explosion the performance of 3G technology will reduce and LTE would fill the gap. When contacted, DoT officials declined to give any idea on when this (LTE or 4G) can be considered for commercial deployment, saying one needs to look into the availability of spectrum and also the viability of the services in Indian conditions. According to sources, some of the operators may wait for this technology to become commercially available rather than investing in the 3G technology. An empowered Group of Ministers has already been set up to frame policy on two most crucial aspects of 3G services - finalising the reserve price for auction of spectrum and number of slots to be auctioned in the first phase. -
Well surely this situation will improve as time passes. Slowly they will be installing more cell sites in weak areas. Also since they are operating at 1800Mhz, more and more cell sites are required and I doubt whether they will be able to cover very remote areas. RCOM having close to 40K cell sites, Tata having close to 20K....imagine the time it will take to even meet the coverage of reliance CDMA...forget abt the big three (Indus Tower) even after so many years CDMA of TATA dont have good coverage outside cities
