  1. Vista Launched

Well I don't know if the performance of games would be worse on Vista. There's a new DirectX version for Vista (v 10.0) and Vista by itself requires much much more video ram - at least 256 MB. So a machine with around 256-512MB video ram should work much better at games than an XP machine.
  2. Ummm dudes I know you think its a great business opportunity. But remember. ICICI, Amex & Airtel were screwed for 75L or so.

  5. Bsnl Broadband Tarrif Slashed

The problem might be simply in capacity. Ever since they opened up their bandwidth... they have probably been overwhelmed with new connections and simple cannot handle the load.
  6. Apple iPhone

the Aeon looks very cool I must say.
  7. Bsnl Broadband Tarrif Slashed

Yeah but dude if you're in class 12 now... it's not surprising you didnt know about the ipod when you were in the class 5. It wasn't invented yet!!!
  8. Which Service Provider Offers The Best Mms Service

In terms of service availability and options they are better. I have little hands on experience in using both services and from activation to usage, I found them to be pretty simple and easy to use. Of course the phuckup happens with compatibility between handsets and operators. MMS isn't a very firm communication standard like SMS and people (handset makers, network guys and networks) interpret it anyway they like. And the name is Anujit.
  9. Apple iPhone

I know a lot of people keep complaining about it... but I dont understand why lack of HSDPA would be a deal killer for the phone. 3G in USA is very limited. Infact most of the PDAs - Palm & Blackberry didnt have 3G till late 2006. Verizon (and I'm sure many other operators there) limits (or at least did limit till very recently) 3G access to your phone ONLY, i.e. you cannot use it as a freaky fast modem for your computer/laptop. Given how restricted that scenario is... I can't see why you'd take 3G services in USA in the first place unless you were really keen on watching streaming videos on a teeny screen. Question really is... how well does it handle Word, Excel and other productivity aps!
  10. Apple iPhone

HP dude: CDMA not happening for the iPhone. Unless they release a 2nd model and work around their existing cellphone contract with Cingular. But I doubt it. They're going to go GSM all the way on this... no matter what the market dynamics in USA is. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,2082059,00.asp When asked about a give-and-take leading to the Apple-Cingular partnership, Lurie said, "I'm not sure we gave anything." Later, he commented, "I think they bent a lot." That bending included allowing the phone to be locked to Cingular, just one of several restrictions on the new iPhone. Press reports today said the phone will not accept third-party applications, though Apple may allow third parties to program mini-application "widgets." "If you want an iPhone, you are going to get the luxury of being on the Cingular network," Lurie said.
  11. Which Service Provider Offers The Best Mms Service

I think Airtel and Hutch are fairly good with this. Though I don't think you can send international MMSs yet. And of course you cant send/receive MMSs to/from RIM either.
  12. RConnect & Mac Os X

Yeah even I was recently having some trouble finding drivers for my Nokia 6255 for a Macbook. Thankfully googling helped and I was able to get some universal nokia 2g & 3g scripts. I'll try to share them in this forum sometime (if I remember). Otherwise people are free to ping me for it anyways.
  13. Apple iPhone

Linux dude... once again... http://www.apple.com/iphone/technology/osx.html OS X All the power and sophistication of the world’s most advanced operating system — OS X — is now available on a small, handheld device that gives you access to true desktop-class applications and software, including rich HTML email, full-featured web browsing, and applications such as widgets, Safari, calendar, text messaging, Notes, and Address Book. iPhone is fully multi-tasking, so you can read a web page while downloading your email in the background. This software completely redefines what you can do with a mobile phone.
  14. Bsnl Proposes Free Voice Calls In Kolkata

Linux dude.... check out AT&T Callvantage or Vonage's site. Free calls. Unlimited. And unlimited means unlimited. To any landline or mobile in the USA AND CANADA. All at $50 a month.
  15. yeah but those files/folders might still be accessible through a program like nero etc... so its not very secure.
  16. Apple iPhone

Yeah the boss of cingular was talking bout how he's bent Apple to be the exclusive service provider. So dont expect any CDMA versions soon. Also rumour is that by the time of the European launch the phone will have 3G capabilities. Mind you of course that Cingular uses different 3G technology (HSDPA) in its GSM as compared to most of Europe and Asia which uses UTMS/WCDMA. Arun: While the details about the application support are pretty sketchy.... since it runs on OS X will it run some of the existing desktop aps?? But I think the whole concept of widgets is to extend the functionality of the device. Locking it would be pretty stupid and pretty difficult. Of course then again US mobile service providers are like that only. I doubt if the the "international" versions would have any software locks.
  17. Bsnl Proposes Free Voice Calls In Kolkata

Yeah dude... but the IP phones are connecting to GSM/CDMA/Landlines... surely theres an operational cost and overheads there! Its not just IP to IP its IP to any phucking phone.
  18. Bsnl Proposes Free Voice Calls In Kolkata

I think they're going to make up for it in data charges.... IPTV @ Rs. 200 but we'll only stream you 200 MB of TV with that. After that its Rs.5/MB. And GSV whats prevalent in (some countries) in the west is free local calls. It's not linked to how much of IPTV or broadband you watch. Of course the VOIP providers offer all USA & Canada unlimited calling at a flat fee of around $50 a month. How they do that god knows!
  19. What Do You Think About Our Present Indian Cricket Team ?

  21. Whats a chinese ipod???? If it's an Apple iPod... start it up in disk mode and format it as a Fat32 drive. Sometimes USB ports are the problem... if your iPod hasn't worked on that particular USB port before... try it on another system.
  22. Reliance has been in GSM for years (in very very limited circles)
  23. Best Handset For Playing Mp3
