  1. It seems to be a dual sim as u can see in its pic there r two signal strength bars... just my conclusions based on pic. Hav not checked it actually. Has anyone ?
  2. Still research is going on... Actually I will be shifting my office to new premises within a month & all this planning is for that new premises. So, I am devoting lot of time on research. Some of my findings are as below:- 1. I tired WINCE based NETCOMPUTER Thinclient. This are low cost chinese boxes & work over ethernet. Quality is crap. I got is around 4.5k but its not at all a VFM product. I returned it. 2. I got Atom based thin client (Config :- D945gcnl + 512 ram + 512 DOM with SUSE + DC-DC smps based mini itx cabinet Panache model no. 3311 which i mentioned in one of my previous posts. Its cost is around 9k. Quality is good. It supports high resolution. I tried using RDP on it. It seemed to work good but not best. Screen refresh was bit slow & ALT+TAB would effect on Linux & not on windows. After that, on same pc, I used UBUNTU thru pen drive. Booting time was bit on higher side. RDP worked fine with just 1 flaw that there was no effect of caps lock in windows & for caps typing, I had to press shift & then type. I know ALT+TAB & Caps can be solved. But still I feel its not 100% efficient solution. On power consumption side, this DC based atom + LCD drew just 0.2 Amps of current which translates to 40-45 VA. which is decent low when compared to 0.8 Amps for full fledged system with AC smps. Finally, I have 2 things in my mind to try next. 1. Try Ncomputing L300. I am already using Ncomp X350 but that is a PCI card based & have some limitations as far as distance is concerned. I have also tested Ethernet based L230 but again performance is not at par & refresh rates are bit slower. L300 as per website supports full screen video & I think will solve my problem. Cost : X350 around 11k, L230 around 6k, L300 around 8k. Power savings is great in ncomputing. 2. Try Atom based PC or All in one with sata hard disk & win xp. Power consumption would be more but system would be more stable. cost around 9k. Will post my further findings soon.. In the mean time, I had bought Kodak Duplex ADF Scanner for archival of documents to save paper n electricity in photo copying them. Model No. is Scanmate i1120 & cost is around 27k. Its a decent performer & lowest cost in its category.
  3. Request For Akey Calculator Download Link

Akey calculator attached.... Edit: File attached... Forgot to attach before... akeycalc.ZIP
  4. Pls mail me procedure to install winxp on pen drive...
  5. Hello all... I need some info on duplex adf scanner as to what is available in India n its price. Even mfp based will do. Have checked many sites but cud not find any in budget range. Adf in mfp are all single sided. I need it to scan forms and those have matter on both the sides. Any inputs?
  6. Need Advice On Duplex Adf Scanner

Finally I have ordered Kodak i1120 sheet fed scanner with Duplex ADF which can scan scan 25 pages back to back in a minute. I got it for 27k delivered to my office in Jalgaon. Redington India is its distri & my comp guy had ordered it sply for me. Will post my review once I use it.. Link :- http://graphics.kodak.com/docimaging/US/en/products/document_scanners/desktop/scanmate_i1120_scanner/index.htm
  7. I have already configured RDP on win 7 (p1rated) & also have a registry hack to enable concurrent users on RDP. I have alse done the same dynamic dns thing & access my pc from anywhere in world. But now want to expand this system for my other workstations too. As you said, u have done XP with nlite but then have u installed that xp on HDD or on Flash??? I wud not prefer putting any HDD so as to save cost + power.
  8. ^^^ I would be glad to get those DOMs atleast for testing purposes as I havent used any till now. Also, if things go as expected, then will expand it. Apart from that, for Embedded OS, I have following choices in my mind but have no idea how to embed them to pen drive. 1. Win XP or 2. Ubuntu or 3. PC Linux Actually doesent if any of them is there. My sole purpose is: 1. VGA / Sound & Lan drives shud be installed for using highest resolution, sound & gigabit lan if supported by lan port. 2. Any good terminal services client like rdesktop shud be there. 3. In case linux, i wud use all the things thru RDP but in case of Win XP, i need IE7, Java, Flash, good pdf reader, support for pdf printer & network printers, one 3rd part app called active image which is required for scanning forms. Its very small & needs to be installed. Thats it... Any distro wont matter if these things are accomplished. Also, today I tried booting Damn Small Linux, Ubuntu & PCLinux from pen drive & it took lot of time on my Athlon PC with 512mb of ram. I need faster booting times (under 30secs). Whatever is easy for u to explain & me to do can be done.
  9. With all my research & help from our forum gurus, I have tentatively finalised below config:- For Thin clients 1. Mini ITX Cabinets with DC-DC Smps (I have chosed DC-DC instead of AC-DC to save power. This eats max 25-30 watts) - Rs.2400/- 2. Atom D510 (or any that supports gigabit lan) : 3350/- 3. 512 MB Ram : 600/- 4. 512 MB IDE DOM or 2 GB Pen Drive : DOM = 600/- Pen Drive = 300/- Rest KVM as per requirement. This will cost around 7k. Now, have a doubts in this one i.e. to use IDE Dom or Pen Drive. Pendrive seems a cheaper option & I have even tried booting ubuntu from pen drive & then access win 7 thru RDP. But, still for speed issues, DOM seems a good option provided someone teaches me how to embed any linux distro in 512mb DOM which has all drivers for Sound / VGA & only RDESKTOP is sufficient. For Server Not finalised full config yet but probably Xeon with 8gb ram with ubuntu server + virtual box.if this sets perfectly, then ok else win 2k8 & concurrent rdp sessions. If someone has source for better pricing of above products, can mention the same or if required, I can share my source. Even this all in one from Zenith suits my requirement provided I get it for max 15k. Any comments?? Now that I am nearing my plan, gurus pls help on embedding issue as i mentioned above. Rest I will post updates whatever I test.
  10. ^^^ Odin will work fine in multi instance setup. Backup issue can be sorted out with manual backups... Apart from that, seems ur idea of setting up odin in different user directories will solver problem... will update once done. Have already though of Honda genset EBK2800S. Can anyone throw some light on its reliability & affordability??
  11. Dont even worry Hitesh bhai.. Will help you.. and thats what Rimweb is all about!! So go ahead and shoot ur doubts/clarifications on this post or PIM me and will take u thru step by step. To start off with.. below are a few steps 1. Download Ubuntu 10.04 LTS ("Lucid Lynx") from http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download (Choose 32-bit/64-bit) based on ur server's configuration. Already did that last night itself!!! Rejoicing... (Also let me know if ur server is a single processor or multiprocessor machine) As of now I have C2D 4400 2GHZ with 2gb ram. I downloaded 64bit for the same.. is it correct?? Also, if it runs successfully, my plan is to get corei7 or xeon based so that wud definitely support 64bit. 2. Download Virtualbox for Ubuntu at http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads Again already did that last night itself!!! 3. Installing Ubuntu on the server is pretty straightforward.. in fact its easier than Windows.. just select the default disk slice (partition) sizes. Will do it n post... Please message me or reply to this post so that we can go forward with the virtual machine configuration process. Cheers!! Thanks again........
  12. Exactly this is what I wanted... But, dont have hands on experience of linux. Have just installed PCLinux with help of ami1's psot on our forum.. Will try to find some guide on installing Xen or VBox on PCLINUX & try... Any help from our gurus here???
  13. TATA will not accept any foreign ESN. You can do below things.. 1. Give ur BB's esn & Akey to TATA & tell them to upload this Akey to their database. Concerned person for the same in TTSL is Shehnaz Shaikh & Imran Khan5. Once they send this mail to them, they will upload the Akey in their database, but after toooo much of followup. 2. Once they confirm Akey uploaded, after 2 days you tell TATA Hub staff to swap ur ESN without OTA Update. And SR will be closed successfully. Then just take MIN & put in ur BB. This will 100% solve your problem. Akey needs to be calculated by you. You can use this link to download Akey calculator. Once downloaded, you just put ur ESN & put any 20 digit number in Akey. accordingly, u the cheksum is generated. Once done u have to give your ESN, Akey (20 digit) & Cheksum (6 digits ) to tata for uploading. You also have to put your Akey in your BB by ##SPC. This should be same that you generated & type it full 26 digits in your phone. I have did the same & it took me a week to activate my phone. This is a recent change in TATA & they are not accepting any foreign ESN/MEID wither for post or prepaid. You must have patience & regular followup. Also, dont try to clone as they have enabled Akey, your cloned phone will not work. Hope this helps... Thanks to HetalDP, Hitesh.rimweb, Mufaddal & Parin for all their support during these 8 days.
  14. apart from all this, can we have a mainframe type solution where all cpu cabinets are kept in server room n vga/keyboard/mouse extended upto desks??? if yes then even that will help me to some extent...
  15. Hi.. Thanks for such a helpful n eye opening reply.. Will post my comments below ur points in your post itself... Thanks once again & waiting for your reply as well as comments from other gurus too....

  19. Hey friends... Vodafone users can now rejoice (But only prepaid) as Vodafone has now enabled full unrestricted internet in their gprs packs. Attached PDF is the copy of official circulation by Vodafone in M&G circle. Enjoy... Edit.: Forgot to press the attach button. Now attached. vodafone.pdf
  20. Dont worry boss... You will get it in few days... They started this with Kerela... Lets hope for earliest... Apart from that, 2 months back, Idea has merged Mumbai into Mah circle so outgoing calls from Mumbai to Out of Mumbai for a Maharashtra customer will no more be treated as roaming calls & viceversa. Airtel has did the same long bank. Tata & Reliance CDMA are also in the same boat. (Dont know abt GSM but it wud be same). Infact even BSNL did it AFAIK. God know when these insane voda people wake up...
  21. @ami1... One of the best posts i have come across on rimweb. +1 from me.. I thought the same way as sadikk. I had checked many opensource options like zoho & others. But, finally what ami1 says is true. For a small business like ours, managing its too time consuming & lengthy to follow systematic processes of CRM. Ultimately, we would end up wasting lot of our time. CRM I think is meant for very large companies who have interaction with 1000s of clients & have 10-15 people to just handle service issues. This is just my view. Most of the things have been covered by ami1.
