  1. Latest Mobile Number Series

Thank you for the file. But from where did you get hold of this thing ? Do you work in Tata ? This is a monthly report file for June 2007. Can you get hold of the latest file ? Thanks anyways.
  2. This flexibility is already there. Reliance Mobile (CDMA), Tata Indicom and Ping (CDMA-Punjab only) R-UIMs can be used with any R-UIM enabled open handset available in the market.
  3. Tata Teleservices got the 3 new LoIs for the circles of Jammu&Kashmir [JK], Assam [AS] and North-East[AR,MN,ML,MZ,NL,TR]
  4. Reliance Communications Ltd. has tied up with BSNL & HFCL Infotel Ltd. for toll-free number interoperability and not with MTNL. All numbers starting with 1-800-11 and 1-800-22 are MTNL numbers and therefore cannot be dialled from RCom and RTL phones. The BSNL series are 1-800-180 , 1-800-233 , 1-800-345 , 1-800-424 & 1-800-425 . Out of these, the 1-800-345 series cannot be called from RCom and RTL phones. I hope this clears the air.
  5. It only seems high because the Samsung is a touchscreen phone and the price difference is only 2,500 - 3000. But what the Spice phone scores on is the functionality of simultaneous dual network which the Samsung lacks. And there is also the issue of we not being able to use a RIM number on the Samsung phone. So the superior functionality more than makes up for the loss of a touchscreen.
  6. The Spice D-88 has already been launched and costs only Rs. 8,500 in my local market. And it is a true dual-SIM dual-working phone. Both the networks work at the same time and one does not need to switch. So it is a better option than the Tata Indicom locked Samsung Duo
  7. Yes, Samsung has an old habit of doing this to their customers. If you look up an old post of mine, I had even posted pictures of a serial data cable for Samsung phones that was available for less than 2 months. Then they suddenly took the cable off the market for fear of people cloning their phones. To this date, Samsung has not released any cable or any English/Hindi language software for any of the old phones. And they still haven't released any software for this phone. So please do not buy this phone until they make available the requisite cable and software.
  8. The above information has been culled from the following sources: http://www.moneycontrol.com/india/news/pre...ne/07/45/296187 http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/News/N...how/2253744.cms http://www.indiantelevision.com/headlines/y2k7/aug/aug47.php This phone has two slots. One for a SIM card (GSM) and the other for a R-UIM card (CDMA) But one thing is still not clear - Does only one slot out of the two work at any given time or both of them work simultaneously ?
  9. Dopod In India With Three Handsets

Their Indian subsidiary link is http://www.dopod.in
  10. Docomo Cdma Camera Phone On Baazee?

No the NTT DoCoMo handsets generally do not roam on the Reliance Mobile (CDMA) network in India. They only have 2-3 models that are dual-mode, i.e. WCDMA(FOMA)-CDMA2000 1x that have been designed for world roaming. Their partnership with Reliance Communications Ltd. is for mobile content , specially for deploying their i-mode (ccHTML) service at a future date.
  11. Yulong Coolpad Phones

Spice Mobile (the cellphone brand and not the Service brand) is going to launch the GSM-CDMA (dual -mode dual-working) handsets in India in June or July 2007. Since they do not manufacture any of theit handsets themselves (like most other brands) , they will most probably get them from Yulong. You may want to check out their website http://www.spicemobile.in at a future date
  12. Needed Charger For Krome

Redington India is no longer their service company in India. You can call their Indian subsidiary E-Charge Tech Pvt. Ltd. at 91-11-66625897 or send an e-mail to service@krome.com.au
  13. Sony Ericsson Cdma Walkman Series !

Let me get some facts clear. The SonyEricsson W42S is a CDMA2000 1x/EV-DO phone and is offered only by KDDI in Japan on their au service. (au is the brand name of their service just like Reliance Mobile & Tata Indicom in India) There are 3 main operators in Japan and the technologies they use are as under: KDDI au : CDMA2000 1x/EV-DO (All EV-DO handsets are fully backward compatible with CDMA2000 1x and CDMAone handets) NTT DoCoMo : WCDMA(FOMA) which is basically a modified version of WCDMA and most of their handsets are incompatible with the widely used WCDMA(UMTS) standard. SoftBank Mobile (earlier Vodafone Japan) : WCDMA(UMTS) (It means that the handset supports GSM/EDGE and WCDMA) So the above mentioned handset can be used in India on Reliance Mobile and Tata Indicom provided it supports the 800 MHz band that we use here.
  14. It is a good move by TRAI. Most of the telcos already have call centres and complaint redressal mechanisms. But this will result in published levels for complaint resolution. And this will force BSNL/MTNL to create a human interface option for their landline complaint resolution system.
  15. Death Of Sch-n191: An Epidemic

I have faced the same problem with my two N-191 phones about a month back. One of my phones went through the exact conditions as enumerated by Utsav. And the other one just does not switch on, neither does it gets charged. The local authorized service centre is no good. I have sent it to another city's service centre through a friend. Let us see what he says. Does anybody have a solution ?

  22. LG RD 6230 launched !

Dear Saurav Ideally it should support R-UIM. But you never know how the handset is customized for Reliance Infocomm by LG. But i heard somewhere that TRAI will mandate compulsory roaming irrespective of the technology used (GSM/CDMA). So this means that RIM will either have to introduce dual radio phones (GSM/GPRS/CDMA2000 1x) like China Unicom and Sprint or will have to come out with R-UIM enabled phones and/or cards for everybody. Hope this clears it.

  25. Use Non Reliance Handsets

They can be made to work. But it takes up a lot of time and tweaking to do so. As ashok pointed out, this can be done by indulging in illegal stuff like changing ESN / SID/NID / NAM / PRL/PID etc. I have done it on a handset from Canada but i will not indulge in any further discussion on this topic.( because of forum rules)
