If they are giving unlimited on net all over india for Rs. 79, why would one stay in Reliance's 440 unlimited plan or 990 truly unlimited plan ?

Dhiraj, When you download movies from net, most of the time they are in one of these formats - mp4, xVid, H264, mov, flv. The DVD player should support them. If not all, most of them. Plz. suggest one. Udaykiran, looking at the description it seems that this is the one that I am looking for. Does it play all these codecs ? Have you tried ? What is the price ? I guess, it would be available in US.

Yes Dhiraj, but does this support the major codecs, the ones that I mentioned above ? In one of the reviews of Philips player, somebody told that it wasn't supporting many codecs. At present, I don't have an LCD and I am not even planning for that, till the time the channels broadcast HDMI signals. I think, its a waste of money. When you don't have proper inputs it doesn't make sense for going LCD. I tend to compare LCDs with CRTs and I always felt that CRTs are better than LCDs. All the showrooms show Blueray disks while displaying LCDs. But we don't get that type of inputs even on DTH platform (except one or two channels on SUN Direct). Well... thats off the track. Sorry for that. However, the main requirement for me is codec support. I can do without HD/HDMI.

but Reliance also offers 50p/min in roaming. When Docomo will go to that level ? actually the war will start once again when the incoming in roaming will be freed by a provider.

Can you point me to some of these which can serve the purpose ? When I surf the web for these, the models dont show which codecs they support. Thanks once again.

I'll try near Pasodya Vithoba madnir. I went to the link. The device is of Rs. 3999. Basically, I want to watch downloaded films on TV from my laptop. This is prohibitive price for the purpose. It would be better to buy a DVD player with USB, which can play all major codecs- mp4, xVid, H264, mov, flv. Is there any such dvd player ? I know that Philips cannot do this.

The first link is VGA to 3 RCA (15 PIN VGA/HD15/RGB to 3 RCA COMPONENT TV/HDTV CABLE). I have already tried that. It is not working because it is 3 RCA not YCbCr. I think the 2nd link (VGA to TV S-Video/RCA AV OUT Converter Adapter Cable) can help me because it is VGA to 1-RCA composite video. But that is not available here in Pune.

The first 2 links are for VGA to S-Video - The TV doesn't have S-Video input The 3rd link is for VGA to HDMI - The TV doesn't have HDMI /? I think, buying the VGA to S-Video (Female) and adding S-Video to Video can help. Is that possible ? How will be the picture quality ? Isn't there a direct VGA t0 Video or VGA to Y Cb Cr cable available ? Will VGA to RGB help ?

I understand your frustration. But I dont understand how BSNL has increased the tariff in Gurgaon and not in Pune.

But BSNL service, in my opinion is not as fast as Reliance at least in some areas. The good thing is that you hv truly unlimited service for Rs. 650 (which the other boarders claim to be Rs. 999). The bad part is that the speed variation is huge. If you are lucky and live in an area where the speed is good, you get speed of around 600/700 kbps. But there are people who get speed of 30/40 kpbs too. Besides, if BSNL has really increased the monthly rental, then it has lost its advantage because at the price point of 999, Reliance would be far better.

This is a news to me. I have been using BSNL EVDO for more than a year now. I am still paying Rs. 550/month. My bill shows that it would increase to Rs. 650/month from 1-Jan-10. If I opt for roaming today then the tariff would be Rs. 650 from today on pro-rata basis. I think there is some confusion here. What is the source of revision of tariff to Rs. 999 ?

ZTE AC871 Looking into this thread, it seems that EC168 is no more available (though it is listed on reliance's site) So, which modem is better ?

True. And I dont think ppl have infrastructure and network to match Rcom's tariff.

Contests and promotions are ok. There is already enough buzz in the market. But dealers dont have the stock. What is the use of creating high level of awareness without actually selling the product ? I sent a mail to CC and they told me that the product was in shortage and would be available only at Tata True Value Hub in 4/5 days. TTVH didnt get it in last 15 days. And even after enquirying after 5 days they dont have the stock. They also dont give their contact number so that one can query about the stock on phone. It is good that they have contest. But it seems that they dont have their promotions and distribution network in sync. May be they are not yet ready for their launch in Maharashtra and launched the product prematurely.

I disagree with Kumar. Actually RGSM has overtaken stupidity I dont understand the logic of deducting 50p/day. Why they are indulging in such gimmicks when other offers 1p/sec all over india ?

I followed the steps. But it connects with the same credential of BSNL using ZTE Wireless Terminal even when the RUIM is inserted into it. While connected it shows EVDO sign on the ZTE Wireless Terminal. How to connect to Reliance netconnect ?

In Pune, there are big advertisements going on for Docomo. Banners, hoardings and bus stops are shouting for Docomo. BUT the SIM cards are not available anywhere. What a waste of money on advertisements.

I agree with this but then whats in a name ? People are anyway going to join the forum. Its true that majority of us have joined the forum to discuss about reliance and thats the reason that the forum is inclined towards reliance discussion. But still we discuss all providers. I dont agree to make any section commercial. That would mar the vary purpose of it.
