  1. Reliance To Reliance Free Pack In Gsm?

    Isnt it costly ?
  2. Google Voice

I guess, GV will never forward calls to Indian numbers, even if they start call forwarding to international numbers. Doing so will be a bypass of regulator and will have its legal implications. I too got my GV and ipkall numbers working. Thanks Dhiraj for assisting me on phone. But this is all about US calling. Is there anything for UK ? I tried searching net for this but unlike ipkall, couldnt find any free DID number provider for UK.
  3. Yes, like Reliance applied for GSM, they too will apply for CDMA.
  4. Google Voice

Gizmo5 dont give PSTN number but SIP number. You need to get a free PSTN number from ipkall.com. While registering there you can add the SIP number of GIZMO5. I have applied at ipkall since Friday. Its been 3 days now but they have not approved or disapproved my application.
  5. Yes, if they are able to do what they are saying, ppl will rush to CDMA even from GSM. I think that one of the biggest bottleneck in the CDMA growth is the handset. You need to pay royalty to Qualacom for each handset sold and that makes it really costly. Most of the people feel that they dont get the same things in the CDMA handset which they are getting in the GSM handset for the same amount. If the things will reverse the trend too will reverse.
  6. I think you people are very enthusiastic. But just a reality check - do you think this will happen in the Raj of Raja ?
  7. Google Voice

I have applied for ipkall. The application is being reviewed. The approval hasnt come for last 6 hours. I'll update here once I move forward.
  8. Google Voice

^^ Did you select the proxy of US ?
  9. Google Voice

@mathewvp, Yesterday, I left the GV registration in between. Now when I am login into it, it directly put me to a dialogbox where it is asking me to enter a Forwarding Phone (step - 3 of registration). If I enter the SIP of Gizmo, it says "Account must have atleast one physical phone". There are only three phone types listed on the dialogbox - Home, Work and Mobile and it doesnt list Gizmo there. The link posted by @djain says that : " 4. In Google Voice, click “Settings“, and then “Phones“. 5. Click “Add Another phone” and paste the SIP number from Gizmo into the box. " But while login to GV it directly opens this dialog box where “Settings“ is not available. So there is no way to “Add Another phone”
  10. Google Voice

I am assuming it because I think that if it doesnt work from real physical landline number then how it will work from GV. Anyway, I will try from GV and update here.
  11. Google Voice

As per post 20 you had problem that you were trying to register on Google voice and it was telling you that "Google Voice is not available in your country.". It is already described in this thread that it is happening because you are trying to do it from inidan IP address. If you somehow can do it with US IP then the problem will not come. Arun has also described that how he did it. But right now my problem is different. Though I know my SIP of Gizmo, I am not able to dial that SIP number from my landline. It says "You call cannot be completed as dialled plz. check the number and dial again". So if I add it to the GV, GV will not be able to call me there and so I will not be able to verify the number for GV. So I am not able to complete the GV registration.
  12. Google Voice

Yes, I can see my SIP number there. Thanks. But after login to the Gizmo Call window (Dialer window) when I dial the SIP number from my landline it doesnt ring. Am I doing something wrong ?
  13. Google Voice

I have so far used 4 gizmo5 numbers with my GV accounts. And they are free. Besides, google itself provides the option to select gizmo in the phone options. And here is the Grandcentral (former google voice) help page for using gizmo with google voice http://www.grandcentral.com/howitworks/gizmo I am not able to find any option from where it creates a phone number. As given on GrandCentral, I tried to "Edit" "My Profile" but the SIP remains blank and disabled. Can you plz. guide me as how to create a phone number ? I am attaching the screenshot of "My Profile" showing that the SIP is blank and disabled.
  14. Google Voice

Gizmo5 doesnt allow to create call-in number for free. Any other alternative ?
  15. I doubt. Because it seems that converter + PCMCAI card will cost more than the USB card. I think it would be better to go with USB Card. But still you buy the converter plz. update the forum with its price.
  16. That means : 1. you pay monthly rental of Rs. 60 extra to make 5 local airtel numbers at reduced rate of 20ps. !! Or 2. You pay monthly rental of Rs. 150 extra to make 5 Std airtel numbers at reduced rate of 50ps !!! Talwar said "It helps leverage our large customer-base across the country and thus gives the edge to our customers,". And he adds - The scheme is expected to benefit around 10 crore Airtel customers across the country. But it seems that Talwar is using this hidden talwar of rental and leveraging his customer-base across the country and by fooling them benefiting his company not the customers. Give me a break Airtel.
  17. No idea. But the guys at Shantinath are smart enough they will understand when you explain them. Just found this from google : http://www.roalan.com/USB%20to%20PCMCIA%20Adapter.htm
  18. The sarkari ppl, mostly are not interested in showing any demo.
  19. Not very sure about it. But you should be able to get it at Shantinath, near Manekbaug hall, Amdavad. From where did you purchased it. In Yerawada exchange, EVDO instruments are not available. I bought it from Bhavanipeth exchange.
  20. Yes. when USB datacards were not available there was PCMCIA to USB conversion available.
  21. The All New Rimweb!

    Thank you.
  22. The All New Rimweb!

The option is already there. "View New Content" has two modes, the default is to fetch active topics posted in since your last visit (as per 2.3.x) OR based on the topic marking system (as per 3.0.0). The option to switch that is in your "My Settings" > Settings tab > General Settings. The only difference from the earlier version is that you do not have to option to show ONLY past "week/s" or "month/s" active topics, instead it will lists all active topics from either your last visit (default) OR all content that you have not read (if you changed in Settings). The topics will be listed based on the date, so if you just need to go through the active topics in the last week then check the date and read the topics since the last week and ignore the ones listed after that. This "New feature" has made the life complicated. Here is - how: 1. "View New Content" on each page at upper right corner : As explained in earlier posts in the same thread, if we go by the default search setting - "Show me all new content since my last visit", then we are not able to get yesterday's post or for that matter this weeks posts. 2. If we want to see post of last 24 hours, we need to navigate to index page, scroll down to bottom and click on "Today's active content" which is above the Board Statistics. 3. Since both of the above processes are on different locations, cumbersome and neither of them offer the options that we had in the earlier version (eg. Today, this week, past 2 weeks, this month ...), I tried your suggested option. I changed the default search setting to - "Show me all content that I have not read" So has the life improved ? No. Here is how: 3A. Clciking on "View new content" now showing all the posts but the visited ones. Lets click on one - for example "The All New Rimweb!". After reading into the thread if you once again click on "view New Content", the thread disappears. Reason ? Because now "View New Content" shows only the new threads which you have not visited ! 3B. So, if after reading 3,4 threads if you want to post something in one of the visited thread, you need to search the thread from home page. or you need to keep "Your options" page open and keep changing the Search settings. so that it can show you the earlier thread ! I think all our members must be facing this issue. Is this new look woth this excercise ?
  23. The All New Rimweb!

Arun, I fully agree with Dkaile. The option to check the topics for Today, This Week, Past 2 weeks etc... were extremely useful and that was one of the features, I think hundreds of our members were using. This is one of the things which differentiates our forum from others. I think this feature is unavoidable and without which we all will miss a little old threads. I think we should not compromise on feature at the cost of the looks. I am not sure about others but I am ready to go back to the earlier looks if the feature cannot be enabled with newer looks. You may infect create a poll on this.
  24. Tata Docomo Launched

Its a cool plan - BSNL 525. I just jumped over it. But then I calculated for my usage. Apart from 250-300 minutes local usage I have 1000-1200 minutes of STD usage. With this plan I would cross 1200/1300 Rs/Month. I think, I am still better with Reliance 440 Unlimited plan where my bill never crossed Rs. 750. Btw, when docomo will start operations in Maharashtra ?
